Like it or not but one thing that might prevent the Packers from releasing Montgomery this week is the fact that he's scheduled to hold a charity event at Lambeau on Thursday.

https://amp.greenbaypressgazette.com/amp/1753674002

Packers rarely if ever under the MM regiment cut players mid season. It’s more realistic seeing a different kickoff return guy against the Patriots (MVS ). Hopefully it also eliminates Montgomery from taking away carries and reps from Jones. Maybe and prayerfully we see just a two RB rotation with Jones and Williams instead of this 3 RB rotation crap the rest of the year.

Montgomery showed he can’t be depended on to put the team above his own selfishness. He was visibly upset on the sidelines a few drives prior to that blunder because he was taken out, and wasn’t getting the touches he felt he should get that game. Again, he wanted to play hero and be apart of the narrative because he wasn’t being featured. Cost us the game IMO. He can be a gunner on kickoff now and that’s about it. He won’t be back next season anyways.

We will never again actually come out on top in a big game with MM as coach. He's lost his edge and has too much of an affinity for players like Monty. Which is why he will be on the roster @ NE. When is enough enough? When is it simply inexusable? When do they stop settling for mediocrity and coming up just short? If Ty is on this team come Sunday MM loses any sliver of credibility he had left.

How must this defense feel? They played their hearts out, especially Jaire

I have been trying to come up with ONE possible reason why it would be a good idea to take the ball out of the end zone. The absolute best case scenario is Ty montgomery (who is easily one of the slowest kick returners in the NFL) scores a touchdown. And then you give the Rams the ball back with two full minutes to play. That would have been the best outcome of him taking the ball out of the endzone. That’s almost a worst case scenario in itself.

He wanted to be the hero. That's literally the only reason.

If you want to give him the ultimate benefit of the doubt and suppose his coaches said something like "they wont kick it in the endzone because they want to get to the 2 minute warning" so he didn't even think about it.

But if these reports coming out are true, he's gotta be insta-gone. At least Bostick was man enough to own what he did. Ty trying to make some kind of petty point because he's pissed off is unforgivable.

"The Packers safety is entering a contract year and the team has a lot of depth at the position, according to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer."

https://www.phillyvoice.com/nfl-rum...on-dix-devante-parker-janoris-jenkins-eagles/

It just goes to show you cannot believe everything you read.

It's possible the Packer brain trust has concluded this is not a championship roster or that Williams can make the transition without losing mcu, but it won't be because of "depth at the position" which is an island of misfit toys.
“Misfit Toys”. Makes me LOL and cry at the same time. It’s truly a terrible group. If they could get something for HHCD now and move Williams to S it wouldn’t affect the S group’s production much. Might help. And with Alexander’s strong play, Williams could probably afford to make the move. HHCD’s INT numbers are inflated by being in the right place at the right time rather than by any playmaking on his part. I’d take a 2nd or even 3rd round pick for him. Maybe there’s a sucker out there who would give up a 1st but I doubt it.

If what is written is true, that he just did what he wanted and it cost the team, if you don't cut him then it pretty much just teaches everyone that I can do whatever I want, when I want and there are absolutely no consequences. You can't have that. TJ Rubley did that and he was gone within the week.

To those who didn't read the link:

Aaron was hot," said one Packers coach. "And he had a right to be. He yelled, 'Take a f------ knee!' He was very, very mad."

In the eyes of many of Rodgers' teammates, his ire was justifiable. According to more than a half-dozen Packers players and coaches who witnessed it, Montgomery had thrown a tantrum of his own on Green Bay's previous offensive series, becoming noticeably enraged on the sideline after being removed from the game. At least one player believed there was carryover from that incident to Montgomery's decision to disregard his coaches' instruction and return the kickoff.

"They took him out (the previous drive) for a play and he slammed his helmet and threw a fit," one Packers player said. "Then (before the kickoff) they told him to take a knee, and he ran it out anyway. You know what that was? That was him saying, 'I'm gonna do me.' It's a f----- joke.

"I mean, what the f--- are you doing? We've got Aaron Rodgers, the best I've ever seen, and you're gonna take that risk? I mean, it's '12'! All you gotta do is give him the ball, and you know what's gonna happen."

After I had cooled slightly last night I figured he’d be benched, lose kick return duties etc. but be unceremoniously not retained this offseason and the 88 era in GB would quietly close.

After reading what actually transpired, and if it’s true, I can’t imagine he’s with the team much longer.

Was trying to give him the benefit of the doubt. Today I’m reading about his tantrum and what really happened. Wow. Anyone at any professional level of anything should be beyond basic lessons. A spanking ain’t gonna do it. He should be gone same as a surgeon who gets mad at the hospital and Jams a scalpel into a patient. Little kids even know better.

Randall was around until the end of the season. That KR a few years back that played with Detroit afterwards wasn't though.

Randall was benched and came back and played much better. Inexplicably, Ty was benched and he apparently said “**** it, I’m doing my own thing”.

I would have expected that from Randall, not Ty.

Jeremy Ross and I still think he was treated harshly.

In an otherwise remarkably clean game, there were two other critcal mental errors in the first 58 minutes. It's pretty clear that Whitehead blew the coverage that left Gurley wide open on the 30 yard TD catch. And there was King's lack of awareness on the fake punt. Should we cut those guys? Oh, not King! But Whitehead? Who's he anyway, right?

I can live with mistakes. What I cannot live with is disobeying clear, simple orders from the coaching staff. That cannot be excused. The Ty situation is miles different than a player just making a mistake.

These are not blatantly undermining coaching orders and costing your team a chance to win the game.....

and all he couldn't do was hang on to the ball. Ty has that problem plus he completely disobeyed the coach. The announcement of his release can't come soon enough.

If what I'm reading about Montgomery's temper tantrum is right, then I withdraw my comments, but there is definately a trend around here for people to go from hero to zero fairly quickly and I get tired of it. Sorry, but that's how I see it at times.

Agreed. This is a crossroads for MM. I know he loves Ty but he can't be on this team next week, he just can't be. Make a stand for once. Hold someone accountable for once. Make it clear that **** like this is INEXCUSABLE for once. Grow a pair MM, forget this misplaced loyalty in a player that has ZERO ROLE on this team anymore. Cut him loose, make it clear that this insubordination was inexcusable. If you don't, how the hell are you going to look players like Jaire Alexander and Blake Martinez in the eye? They dominated this game, they spilled their hearts out for it. And to be robbed of a win by this useless crybaby. He has to go now MM or you lose all credibility with your players and fans.

The more I hear about it and think about it, cutting the s**thead is not an overreaction. It is justified.

It's almost compulsory.
