If they need a blitz pickup, go back out and get a FB. We have 3 rbs, no FBs. I don't see how ty is an upgrade at any position at this time.
You don't need a FB. Did you see the Williams pickup on the long throw to Adams in the first quarter? He stoned the blitzer. Again. What you do need is a 3rd. RB on the roster or the PS in the event of injury. I think I'd take Montgomery over Tra Carson.

Does tra Carson return kicks by chance?

I was at the game. Very painful.
The INSTANT that Montgomery came out of the end zone, he made the wrong choice, no matter what happened.
First of all, he burns a “time out” (the 2 minute warning).
Secondly there isn’t anything he could’ve done successfully except maybe run 60 or 70 yards to put them in FG range. EVEN if he ran it back for a TD, that would be bad bc it would leave too much time on the clock for the Rams to come back. So a glaringly stupid move which was basically a lose/lose situation. If Zook didn’t let him know that, there should be consequences. If Montgomery disobeyed orders, there should be consequences (think Belichick-a REAL HC-in New England). Physical mistakes I can live with. Mental mistakes/coaching mistakes on this team I’m sick of. Wanna see a well-coached player use his brains on the field? Look at Todd Gurley stop on the 2 yard line and NOT score a TD so the Rams could run out the clock. Think ANYONE on the Packers except Rodgers would know to do that?

Well he’s not on the team anymore but Morgan Burnett attempted that once......

They really did. They gave the effort I have been looking for. I'll take that kind of play every week and roll with the results if they can duplicate that play.

I could see a potential re-match down the road back in LA.
I agree with that first sentence. I can't go as far as the second until I see a follow-up effort against New England..

I love Alexander. Talk about an answer to the prayers of Packers fans everywhere. We couldn't have asked for a better corner...

Alexander looks like a future perennial pro bowler. I also love King and Josh Jackson.

Running back depth. If used properly he is actually an asset. He has generally blocked well on blitz pick up. He is little bit of a run threat and real receiving threat. It would be pretty harsh to cut him for this. We may need him in a few weeks if Jones gets hurt. Of course, since we don't really like to use Jones very much perhaps that isn't a big risk.
If this 1 bonehead play that made the Packers 3-3 had playoff effects than players should be cut and coaches dismissed..but nothing will change...I am waiting for his explanation interview if he comes out of hiding.

Montgomery left the building, did not speak to reporters. I'm sure he's sick about it but it would have been classy of him to face the heat and man up.

They could have put 2 lead blockers back there. The offensive line was beaten so badly it just would have put more bodies in the end zone. Instead of 2 yards deep they would have tackled him 3 yards deep lol.

We are not a power running team. We run because they play pass or we get them moving in a certain direction and crest creases. We don’t line up and drive anyone.

Anyway, it was like the 1 foot line. Sometimes bad **** happens there. For the most part I think they overcame it as a team

Gotta disagree. I saw the formation and prayed they would fake a run, but just knew they were gonna run it and get stuffed. It was a horrible play call and as a previous poster said, in the big picture it was a bigger mistake than Monty's.

Wait you don't like that MM ran the ball there? Funny all I been hearing lately is that he doesn't run it enough.[/QUOTE]

No one in their right mind would run it there. Rams had a push almost the entire game and we did not have a lead locker. Yes us fans feel like we should run it more considering again Jones can put up great gains (7+ avg). But guys like you only hear and read what you want to. There is a difference between more and always.

We shouldn't even be discussing firing Zook. His coverage schemes have been excellent and that's the most important thing from your special teams by far.

Special teams are much better than the Shawn Slocum years, who McCarthy kept for at least 3 years too long, as he did with Capers and as did Mark Murphy with TT. I put no blame on Zook.

You kind of have to give the Rams special teams and punter some credit there as he kept the Rams in the game in the second quarter pinning the packers back when we really could of done some damage and took a comanding lead.

Cut Montgomery? First ask why the packers don’t have a dedicated kick/punt returner. Then kick back and think of what a great versatile player he’d be if the packers ever started utilizing his true skills. Catching short passes and racking up some rac yards

How did he get out-coached? I think the Packers proved they are improving with a ton of youth on both sides of the ball and they were every bit the match for the Rams today.
But how many bad decision did the Rams coach make versesMM

Weren’t they supposed to cut Crosby a couple of weeks ago?

There wasn’t an overreaction then so I doubt there’s one coming now.

As far as firing Monty this is total overkill. He’s been largely successful as an athlete and while I’m in agreement it was a bonehead move.. well, we’re all a bunch of boneheads that make mistakes all the time so if a fumble warrants getting fired I should probably be hung on the gallows.

Don’t think they would ever cut Mason he has been money to long, coach sends him in to kick an he missed several times but they never told him not to miss, Ty unfortunately and I don’t know what’s true, and if he was told to take a knee and he did this one on his own, and I cant recall Ty winning a game in the last seconds, and with 2 good backs ahead of him he might be gone.

Monty ignored the coaches and the plan and selfishly cost the team a chance at a W. His contributions to the team are negligible at best and that is why he can be cut tomorrow with Davis or Kumerow taking his place. There is no room for players going rogue.

MM was pathetic talking about this after the game. He said the plan was for him to take a knee if the ball was in the endzone....but then he goes and defends him by saying he is a guy making a decision to make a play? WTF is that? It is no wonder this team doesn't respect him anymore. Call the f-in guy out for costing you a shot at winning the game. Hell....tony brown is still on the team after trying to lose the team a game 2 weeks in a row.

He was in for pass pro when Rodgers was sacked today so don’t give me that garbage, did not pick up blitz
Didn’t the replay show there were two targets coming through the sloppy protection and he chose to block the one he saw in front and was already making the block when the other came from the far left side?

Not to make excuses, but he was only a yard in the end zone. Kick returners start their run up further back in the end zone. When he chose to field the kick he was moving forward towards the goal line while looking at the ball and with rams bearing down on him. Catching the ball, he wouldn’t have known if he had crossed the goal line. Maybe thinking he had, he chose to take off and make the best of it. Most all kicks these days either fly past the end zone or land very deep. Things happen in less than a second. If anything it was a perfectly placed kick that caused the poor decision and perfect storm to the fumble. Man had no choice but to run or risk pinning them down along the goal line... and we all saw how well that scenario ended earlier. A special teams coaches business is to know all the little things. Shoulda told Monty to stand right on the goal line. Ball goes over or past you... let it go.... ball lands and dribbles in front... go get it. Pretty sure this was a coaching instruction breakdown.
