In all seriousness the chance or discussion for a Rodgers departure or trade will truly only be a possibility as you state next year.
It becomes incredibly tempting to seriously listen to offers if Love’s improvement track angles up significantly this coming year.

I think part LaFleur and Gute's approach of being 100% adamant about Rodgers being the starter is based at least in part (even if it's a very small part) of what they haven't seen from Love so far.

I'll give Love a pass for not winning the backup job in year 1. If he can't win it in year 2, it's time to hit the panic button.

I'll be honest if say Jets offered Gute both their first rounders this year and of course like two more years of 1st round picks....you could instantly afford to sign Linsley or Jones most likely, doubtful both if I understand trades and contracts correct.

The Packers couldn't even afford to sign both first rounders acquired from the Jets with the cap space saved ($5.6 million) by trading Rodgers, let alone re-sign Linsley or Jones on top of it.

True, never said it was a realistic hypothetical LOL

Lol, it doesn’t matter a whit if we know. Gutekunst is getting the offers, not us.

Not that big a deal, but was

referring to offers for Rodgers or Love? If for Rodgers, the Pack certainly would like to know if Love can take over. If for Love, nobody is going to make Gute an offer if they don't see Love play. What am I missing?

Good point. If our guys were correct is feeling that another team REALLY wanted Love spent the extra draft capital accordingly, the might get something worthwhile. Don't remember other situations like this, but being a 60-some year Packer fan, I probably should have remembered THIS one. :) Thanks.

A Brett Favre type offer? Some new GM enamored with a player his previous team could not get.

Favre threw four passes during his rookie season though, already showing he had the ability like no other quarterback in NFL history to throw interceptions :D

The Packers D has this thing about making second rate QBs like Jamison, look like MVP candidate, its one week but this should not be how you start a run to the Playoffs

Absolutely understand the frustration. I'm seething too.

But I still believe we have one of the best O in the league. And one of the best QBs. Maybe slow to pick up steam, but still confident we'll deliver.

If he doesn't get a chance to play, how do we know?
I think Rodgers needs to be on a shorter leash and if he's this bad again, Love deserves a chance when the game is still within reach with the rest of the starting offense. I liked what little we got to see today. He had a nice composure about him out there. I think he can be a leader.

I've said it for at least 2 years...are you listening now? HE NEEDS TO PLAY IN PRE-SEASON! THIS ILLUSTRATES EVERYTHING!

Yet he was on point last year with no preseason.

Now, I'm not going to deny there can be a price to pay if you and your starters play zero snaps in the preseason. But don't forget we also lost Jordy Nelson from doing so, so the risks to losing important players in the preseason likely carries a worse outcome than not playing them then.

I really think trying to put the lack of preseason play as the culprit for today is an attempt at an easy out.

I'd really like to know if Gute and Murphy did in fact tell Rodgers they would trade him after this season. If so, I would say that was a bad move and making him a lame duck QB was a terrible idea. Ideally you'd think he'd stay true to what he said in his Erin Andrews interview about going on top. But after today ... Man I just cannot shake the feeling he looks like he just wants to run out the clock.

Love may not be ready yet but I really feel like the way this season is looking I could live with his growing pains.

Preseason is almost like a crap shoot, I wish we could get the season started but then again you have to cut your scrubs
