if the outcome had been a W this wouldn’t be a post
No, but had next week or in 3 weeks been a loss, repeat and rinse.

I get it. The Packers had the 49'ers on the ropes and came up short. However, the Packers for the most part played a great game and even more importantly, had a great season, that legitimized Rodgers replacement.

Short of a Lombardi being raised in GB, some fans just seem to be unhappy.

Maybe a 24 hour cool down period before all the uplifting, bright future, sky is the limit comments can be displayed. We just lost a game that we should have won which would have put us very close to the Super Bowl. It could be years before the Pack is in that position again. So, since some of us are still pissed and were playing to win, 24 hours? Then, start handing out the participation trophies and lollipops ad nauseam.
That's the point some of us are trying to make. Over reactions to one game and the doom and gloom being painted by some posters is just over the top hilarious. I mean go ahead, have your melt downs, throw your hissy fits. However, it really doesn't take much of a Football fan to look at this season, the Packers youth, their upcoming draft war chest of picks, as well as finally getting cap healthy, to be pretty confident that this won't be the Packers final run at a SB in the next 10 years.

I agree with a lot of this.

However, I firmly believe almost every team feels like they're heading in the right direction. Dallas will run it back thinking they're talented enough and think they'll push further next year. Chicago believes they're on the upswing and have major draft capital in the upcoming draft. The Vikings believe they'd have been in our position if their QB didn't go down. The Lions no doubt feel like they're just starting to bloom now and have a lot of ways in which they can still get better.

Every opportunity, no matter how unlikely it may have seemed in hindsight, matters, and every time last night happens is an opportunity and year lost.

Who would have thought, back in 2011, when Rodgers held up the SB trophy, that he'd never get back? He was still in his 20s with a young ascending team. There are no guarantees or assurances, no matter how young or talented. We could go 14-3 next year, get a bye and then run into this year's hot version of ourselves only to see them finish the job.

We just never know. There's always next year, and then all of the sudden you look up and an entire era of opportunities has slipped you by.

Sounds like fun living in your house... :D

There is absolutely the chance that this is as far as Jordan Love ever gets, but I'm not going to spend one minute of the offseason thinking that way. Otherwise life is depressing.

Fantastic. We have another HoF regular season QB who learned how to choke in big playoff games from the best. Great job kicking your team in the nuts after they got a 3 n out and put you in position to demoralize the nines and silence th3e crowd..
Fire Bissaccia and tell him to take his kicker with him.

Gary got paid and disappointed when we needed him the most.
Did Wicks play in this game?

Tomorrow's headline news.

THE PACKERS FOUND A WAY TO LOSE TO THE NINERS IN 4RTH QUARTER YET AGEIN
Step away from the ledge. lol

Gee, in his first season starting our young QB, who most were none too thrilled when we drafted him, made a rookie mistake in his second playoff game.
Newsflash - there is a long list of franchises who will gladly take this bum off our hands today. Yes, it sucks to lose but there is only gonna be one team happy in February and it won't be the 9ers.

Our kicker had issues but one big mess Bisaccia cleaned up on ST was penalties! How many times in the past have we been flagged for holding on every cotton pickin' kick/punt? Gute never should have squandered a draft pick on a freaking kicker. Bisaccia also brought in our lone All-Pro kick returner. I have no issues with our ST coach. But don't get me started on our DC...

One more stud: everyone who came back at Niners dirty tactics.

When SF got down early they immediately started to try to intimidate our guys by trying to pick fights (and the refs were fine with it BTW) but the kids didn't back down and put it right back in their ****ing faces.
I too thought those 9er players were chippy buggers. The refs should have nipped some of that crap in the bud right away.

I suppose so. I'm just bummed that we didn't finish yesterday. I guess knowing how often you come up short is what makes you appreciate those special runs like 2010 more that nobody saw coming. Near the end of the 3rd quarter I felt like this team had a chance to do that same thing.

Short of a Lombardi being raised in GB, some fans just seem to be unhappy.

I think many people generally want and need to be unhappy. Internet is littered with people who only exist to be miserable and unhappy or try to make others miserable and unhappy.

I've been a sports fan since roughly 10. I've been on this earth over 50 years so, that means roughly 200 combined seasons of sports between Bucks, Brewers, Packers, Badger FB/Basketball and out of those 200, only 3 have been championship seasons. Yes, a Championship is the main goal, but if you are basing your entire happiness and satisfaction on sports on only that you are going to be miserable 99% of the time after the season ends. I used to be the angry abd let it impact my emotional state for days/weeks afterwards, but about 15 years ago made a decision that no more was I going to have something that I have no control over get me that upset for periods afterwards.

The last month or so has been fun. 49ers loss isn't taking that away. Looking forward to the offseason moves and how they can try to get back into this point next season.

If you want to be that upset afterwards and be upset at others that they aren't as upset as you. Have fun with that.

This might sound funny, but I bet you a lot of 49'er fans aren't fully happy about the outcome of that game either. Yes, they got the win and get to play in the NFCCG. However, it took 2 dropped sure interceptions and a rookie kicker ****ting the bed to get there. Add to that, Deebo got hurt, Purdy looked bad in the rain and a 7th seeded team knocked your team around a good part of the night. Yes, 49'er fans are thankful to advance, but if I was in their shoes, doubts would be creeping in after that game.

This team gained 2-3 years of lessons in one season. They learned the offense. They learned how to play through adversity. They learned sometimes you lose games you shouldn't and sometimes you win when you shouldn't. Then they learned to weather injuries. They learned how to win in the playoffs. They learned how it feels to lose in the playoffs. Those are stages every team goes through in learning how to become champions. It usually takes a good team 2-3 seasons to learn all of that, and they got to learn it all in just ONE.

They also learned that they have a pretty darn good QB in Jordan Love. With only 1 year left on his contract, THAT might have been the most valuable lesson of the season. Going into the offseason, I have no doubts that the Packers will want to extend Jordan and give him a pretty decent size contract. Now that might sound scary, but what would they have done if Love had a bad year or at least an inconclusive year?

Yep, you guys aren't wrong about the last two points. Even the Packers that won it all in 2011 with Rodgers didn't get there without experiencing heartbreak first (the 51-45 playoff overtime loss in Arizona).
And people forget that Lombardi lost his first NFL Championship 17-13 in 1960 to the Eagles in a game in which the Packers clearly outplayed the opponent. Lombardi regretted some of the decions he made and the plays they used.

Did anyone ever hear any explanation as to why there was no intentional grounding called on the play or two before the Kittle TD?

Purdy was clearly in the pocket, and there was absolutely NO 49er anywhere close.

I agree. This officiating crew and short arming every Packer spot and at least 5 SF non calls point to the NFL and gambling. Soon it will be unwatchable and fixed entertainment. Take a dive!

Yeah, I'm not down on Love, still think he's the guy and going to be a great one. Even the great ones have struggled in the playoffs at times. Peyton Manning generally sucked in the playoffs. We're fine.

I think if the Packers had a center like Frank Ragnow we make that 4th and 1 or even the 3rd and 1. This is what can make or break a red zone offense. With that said we only committed ONE penalty last night. Best of the season. So the focus was there. We forced 4 Niner punts and 2 very long FG attempts. To beat the Niners you have to play almost a perfect game. And we came up short. It's a game of inches.

I must say, I was thoroughly entertained this season. We really had no idea what we had and many of us were talking 5,6,7,9 wins and maybe at best a WILDCARD card game. We did all that and more. Whooping a Dallas #2 seed and nearly knocking off a #1 seed in their house.
Talk about maximizing a season. These kids should be proud of themselves, they really competed past my expectation and they can hold their heads high. We should’ve been the NFC #2 seed that’s how we played to finish out the season. It hurts to lose, but not so much here as we played great in adverse conditions against an exceptionally talented opponent. Plus the majority of our starters will be back next season.

Guys. We are ONE 2024 draft similar to our 2023 version away from a SB caliber team.

He is trying sometimes to do it all himself. He saw Rodgers move down the field in the last minute with 2 throws to Adams enabling Crosby to beat the Niners. He watched a lot of ARod in crunch time. He will get wiser and he will get better.

A lot of pluses and pleasant surprises. The downers were among it all : No Bahk, letting Douglas go, losing all those games to non- playoff teams, Carlson ineptitude, the injuries. Now on to 2024.

Every season new bunch of excuses.
You made payoffs. It's 1 game at a time.
Most played hard, some didn't show up, some cracked under preasure, some got manhandled. In any case, another big playoff game loss to the f.. niners.

Wonder what excuses next season they be leaning on.

Why and how would you trade something you don't have for something you already do?
What I mean is that Wilkes is a better DC than Barry. If the Packers could get Wilkes and dump Barry it would be an upgrade even though it's purely hypothetical given that Wilkes is very likely to not take another DC job before he gets a chance at a HC position. If you want to wash, rinse and repeat, by all means bring back Barry. I'd rather be a serious SB contender which they won't be with Barry. He has a proven track record.
