The media and Jets fans are ramping up their conversation for "what will happen to the Jets in 2025."
Sounds like a total dumpster fire brewing for the Jets. Rodgers is all but done there and if they can't trade him, which with his age and contract, I doubt they are able to, they outright cut him. That will come with a $49M dead cap hit. However, while $49 million is a massive number, it would get worse if they decide to keep Rodgers for 2025 ($63 million in dead cap), meaning cutting him this offseason is the better move.
Davante Adams will no doubt go on the trading block, but there again, his contract with the Jets might not be one that another team wants. If New York decides to release him as well, they would free up close to $30 million in 2025 cap space, while taking on about $8 million in dead cap.
