I probably got this a little off topic, so I’m moving my response to a thread @AmishMafia started

Packer Receivers in 2004

Were obviously at that point we can evaluate and it’s a fun topic and loaded also

Now reports that the owner wanted to bench Rodgers after week 4?

Going into the season I wasn't particularly rooting for any path to the Jets season. If they were successful, great. If it was a dumpster fire, great. Whatever path the choose your own adventure book "Aaron Rodgers, Jets QB" took was going to be entertaining.

At this point now I just want the dumpster fire for the entertainment value. The full on Saving Private Ryan scene where they torch the pillbox, guys are jumping out on fire and someone yells "Don't shoot, let 'em burn!"

I feel the same way about Rodgers and the Jets. I'm happy with the way this all turned out for the Packers, that is the draft capital from the Rodgers/Adams trades. Rodgers was a great QB for GB and for most of his career, seemed like an OK guy - some family/relationship problems but that covers just about all of us.

He got truly strange after the Love trade, and I mean truly strange. I get that he would be pissed off by the pick, but it seemed to motivate him to play his best ball for the next two years. But the ayahuasca and the darkness retreats and the condescending voice/attitude and inability to accept any responsibility - yeah it was time to move on.

Even so, had the Jets been successful, fine w/ me as long as as the Packers keep winning. It does seem like Father Time has caught up with him. And with his personality, can't see him doing any kind of network/broadcast work. Even Jeopardy told him "no thanks".

I'm in the same boat.

I actually have always been a Jets fan. Since I was a kid, I have liked, in order, Packers, Chiefs, Jets.

So a part of me really wanted to see the Jets finally make it to a Super Bowl and if it wasn't the Packers they were playing, win it all.

However, my disgust with Rodgers attitude and demeanor in his final years in GB took over. That never would have happened had Rodgers truly changed, which it appeared he did for awhile. However, Rodgers just can't stop Rodgering and he's pulled that franchise into the fray with him.

I am sure that they are making more out of it than it is, but just saw articles today that Davante wasn't too happy with Rodgers after a play. Did he stay mad? Probably not. Was it a big deal? Probably not. However, Davante's frustration after a single play, is kind of a glimpse of how a lot of Rodgers teammates probably feel about him and Davante was a guy that used to always have Aaron's back.

When I was watching the Jets during commercials; I saw Rodgers miss 2 or 3 times crossing the middle. Open and he just threw it behind the guy. Otherwise his throwing looks pretty good.

I agree, he can still throw a decent pass. Rodgers might be one of the best QB's to play the game when it comes to stepping out of the huddle, reading the defense and knowing what they are going to do. This is has been both a blessing and a curse for Rodgers. With such little time to snap the ball, chances are, the other 10 guys on the field with him don't exactly see what Rodgers sees or know just how to react to it if they do. When a play goes bad, Rodgers reacts with the look of "What the H where you thinking dude, didn't you see what I was seeing?"

That attitude grew the longer he was in Green Bay and I think he tried to squash it a bit in New York, but its back.

The other problem with AR today, his age and injuries no longer allow him to move as freely in or out of the pocket as he once did. Rodgers was the king of stretching plays and avoiding sacks. The Jets OL is taking a ton of blame for all the sacks and hits on Rodgers, and probably some of it rightfully so. However, Rodgers knows what kind of OL he has in front of him, he needs to adapt his game to that and he can't.

The few times I've seen him play his arm still looks good. In his prime, he was a master at escaping an incoming rush, sliding left or right and making something out of nothing. He can't escape that rush anymore, or not nearly as often.

There just doesn't see to be any chemistry with Rodgers and anyone else on the offense. Adams has done nothing since the trade, surprising me.

The media and Jets fans are ramping up their conversation for "what will happen to the Jets in 2025."

Sounds like a total dumpster fire brewing for the Jets. Rodgers is all but done there and if they can't trade him, which with his age and contract, I doubt they are able to, they outright cut him. That will come with a $49M dead cap hit. However, while $49 million is a massive number, it would get worse if they decide to keep Rodgers for 2025 ($63 million in dead cap), meaning cutting him this offseason is the better move.

Davante Adams will no doubt go on the trading block, but there again, his contract with the Jets might not be one that another team wants. If New York decides to release him as well, they would free up close to $30 million in 2025 cap space, while taking on about $8 million in dead cap.

What does 2025 look like?

Rodgers and Adams playing for the Vikings?

The Vikings rumors actually DO kind of make a little bit of sense...

Nobody else has really said much about it, but I saw Boomer Esiason talking the other day and he is totally convinced that Rodgers has been playing hurt all year long (I think he suggested lower body/hammy). Of course that's just speculation but if that were to turn out to be the case, for instance, it wouldn't be hard to seeing another team talk themselves into adding him, esp. as a "bridge" QB. Darnold is out of contract, and I don't know if they'd want to throw McCarthy right in as the starter coming off of multiple knee surgeries for what would effectively be his rookie year. If you think Rodgers HAS been less than 100% and could bounce back, bringing him in for a year could make some sense...

And I gotta say - even if they get a 75% Rodgers that could be kinda scary. AJ, Jefferson, Nailor, Addison, Hock...

You forgot to add ....Davante Adams to that list ;)

I read the same comments by Boomer, he suspects Rodgers left hammy is giving him issues. My guess is that at some point he and the Jets will play that up and try to increase his trade value, if there is one. A team trading for Rodgers, without redoing his contract, would be taking him on for a 1 year deal, with a cap hit for that team of $23.5M.

The more I looked at the idea, the more I agree with you and others, it isn't all that outrageous and one the Vikings probably would consider, if all it cost them was a late round pick.

If this is possibly the Jets (and Vikings) feeling right now, once the Jets are mathematically eliminated, they will shut Rodgers down for the rest of the season, siting the injury as the reason.

thanks for the info, I missed the rumor that Rodgers may be playing injured.

I think the Vikings will do all they can to keep Darnold. That may be risky, given Darnold's unspectacular past, but he's played really well in MN.

But Rodgers in purple? Stranger things have happened.

Very much agree. Perfectly said on the timing of Rodgers pathway to drama. It’s really who he was all along, we just needed a pandemic and stiff internal competition to bring it to a head. Lol

I believe Rodgers always respected us drafting at Defense in Day1 and he was ok not getting a “Weapon”. Personally that can be seen as a compliment (him doing more with less) However using a Day 1 on a QB probably put him over the Edge there from an ability to reason with FO decisions.

Well if Rodgers goes to the Vikings at least he has experience losing in NFCCG games so, he can really complete the Favre arc of his career.

I just can't see the Vikings bringing him in.... well I guess I could, since the SKOL franchise is Green Bay West, and a home for misfit toys. However, with the all out dumpster fire in New York this season, it would be shocking to see Minny bring the Rodgers circus that would surely follow, into their building, IMO.

That "hands on his hips death stare" really made me think a lot less of him, and that started early on. The first time I saw him do that was to Jermichael Finley in a playoff game, I think the 2011 season. Finley was coming across the middle wide open and Rodgers drilled him with a chest-high rocket that was almost behind Finley, and he couldn't quite twist around enough to gather it in.

He probably should have caught it, but still, it was not an easy pass to catch, and Rodgers could have made it easier - but he was wound so tight that day he was throwing like a bazooka, sort of like Favre used to do until he settled down.

I didn't particularly like seeing that, but as the years went by I saw a lot more of it. After Love got here, yeah... his attitude just went completely around the bend, and it didn't take long before a team that had revered him couldn't wait to get his attitude out of town.

And now I'm just amazed, watching him dismantle the entire Jet's organization. Throws his teammates under the bus, forces the team to sign and trade for player they can't afford and who then don't produce, gets his coach fired, gets his GM fired, and blames every single thing on everyone else. I don't think I've ever seen a single, individual player do so much damage to an organization before. That ego is just incredible.

If someone had told me that the Jets would trade for Davante Adams before trade deadline and Rodgers would be healthy all year? Then guess their record after 11 games?

I’d have assumed they were over .500 at trade deadline and in that 7-4 or
8-3 feel looking to bring it up a notch.

You make a good point, the Rodgers we saw at the end of his time with the Packers was the real Rodgers - all knowing, never wrong, condescending. It's been debated a lot here whether or not he knew a QB could be picked, but even that doesn't matter. He just had piled up so much success by then, he seemed to feel entitled. Entitled to what? I'm not really sure. It just came across wrong to a lot of people.

Yeah there is something terribly wrong with the Jets and it predates Rodgers arrival It's that goofball owner who has no idea of the concept of a "team". Spend enough money, get enough talent and that's the formula for winning in sports. First thought wrong Woody, again.

Rodgers' insistence on bringing in players past their prime is part of the problem with the Jets. The bigger problem imo is their owner. At least GB had the presence to ship Rodgers out before he could do more damage. I don't know why a control freak like Wooody Johnson would cede so much control to Rodgers. They deserve each other. The rest of the team and the fans deserve better.

And he did that "death stare" a lot, as if he could never be culpable for a play gone wrong. Maybe that's a big reason he won only one SB with GB. It's not entirely on him, but he had the wrong temperament to inspire teammates. 4 MVPs is an incredible accomplishment. Can't take that away from him. But I'd also expect a team with a 4-time MVP to have more than one SB. Again, that's not all on Rodgers.

If the Vikings think they have another Cousins on their hands with Darnold, they'll resign him. McCarthy can sit for another two years. Works well in GB, well, sort of.......

And the sad part is that they came into Lambeau in 2022 and kicked our butt.

Yeah it’s definitely not. In 2014 Rodgers essentially got us in position to at least represent in the SB, had it not been for our ST and then our D just utterly collapsing.
He at minimum should had 2 visits with 1 Win. Seattle nearly knocked off NE, so I think it’s possible we had a 50/50 chance had we not goofed up.
