He was offered 8 mil a year, and if he accepted, he would still be on the field now making that money( in theory)
He could do it if he wanted to.
And don't think he walked because he was done. Imo he walked because GB ticked him off. He is a 4-3 dt in his mind. In Boston him and the other dt were unstoppable. And he cleaned up.
In Thompson's and capers scheme, he was good enough for capers to justify and invent the 1 man front... but you ask him if he was having fun? Or if his ideas were being listened to? He knew less Dlinemen was a bad idea. He seen it. He lived it... and after a couple years of 1 or two man fronts. He said Eff that. Find another guy. We tried to throw a reported 8 MIL at him and he said I retire.
I guarantee the guys here were echoing the GB brass who stood strong on the idea that raji was replaceable. Any 5th Round nt can do what raji did.....
Not true. If Daniels hadn't made the big step right then to great. And if Guion hadn't played so well. And both staying relatively healthy for a couple years.... Greenbay defense would've buckled worse than it actually did. Imo
Point is. You put big Mo daddy next to raji island on one side. And mad Daniels on the other. Get rid of capers and add a dline heavy scheme, 3 years ago. And raji never retires...
With a couple ears to miss the good things about the game. Seeing Greenbay seemingly fill holes and add star power where it was needed. It would be fun to come in as a back breaker. No more raji island. No more wore down into the ground. He is healed, rested, hungry, and coming in as a back up, he could blow guys up! Regularly.... that would be fun imo. And he would earn a big *** payday somewhere if he did. And a ring most likely...
Money isn't everything. And to someone who was over used and arguably misused, a good portion of his career. Being a back up has a certain charm... make 4-5 MIL without the whole defense depending on him to hold the front. A defense where he is an after thought on the blocking scheme.
