Mike Tomlin might be available if the Steelers don't make the playoffs. Have read enough about him yet, but his record of 123–64–1 is better than McCarthy. Maybe like Mike he has run his course in Pittsburgh and needs a new team?

I don't believe the Steelers have ever fired a HC.

Since Noll-Cowher-Tomlin dates back to 1969, I don't think any of the previous guys, none of whom coached more than four years, is all that relevant. :)

Maybe he means Joe Maddon. Anyone who can get the Cubs to win world championship he must be some sort of miracle worker.
Funny how Back to the Future II only missed that by one year.
I was kind of hoping for never myself (my dislike of Chicago sports runs deeps), but my Cubs hate has subsided over the years.

I take that article as nothing more than Florio trying to take shots again at Rodgers. He takes these veiled shots whenever things aren’t going well or when he sees opportunity to put Rodgers in a bad light.

Rodgers comments seemed to be nothing more than a player saying they like the coach and will play for him. Florio turns it into Rodgers trying to steer the organization and being the person they need to placate in al of this.

Or to spite him. As if the rest of the team doesn’t matter. Keep driving Rodgers is everything.

Who you rooting for Amish? Where you stand on McDaniels?
Meh

(Which is pretty high on my scale)

I dont think I know of the best candidate yet. Pettine is the best so far, but I think we will find better.

What you got against Dungy and Arians?

Not likely we'll get them but still.

Well with the interviews starting to roll in, I know you're all dying to see my updated list. So here it is.
  1. Jim Harbaugh: I've rethought this one and come all the way around. Yes, he's kind of nuts, and yes, that means he usually doesn't last anywhere too long. But he's proven to be a great football coach, and if he only lasts as long as Rodgers' remaining seasons, does it really matter that he isn't long for the job?
  2. Ron Rivera: It seems a foregone conclusion at this point that Rivera is a goner in Carolina. That often happens with new ownership. But he's proven to be a pretty darn good coach there. In the last 6 seasons, he's achieved 11+ wins three times. In that time, his defense has been top 10 in DVOA four times.
  3. Dave Toub: Toub has been a stellar coordinator for years, comes off arguably the best active coaching tree in the NFL, and should come with great connections for building a staff.
  4. Kris Richard: Cowboys DC Rod Marinelli has long been doing great work in Dallas, but their defense has risen to a new level this season and it's coincided with the arrival of Richard from Seattle. He presided as the DB's coach over the hey day of the Legion of Boom and is now calling the defensive players in Dallas. He's a rising star.
  5. Eric Bieniemy: Like Toub, Bieniemy also has the benefits of Andy Reid's coaching tree. Ideally, he would get more seasoning before he took on the big chair, but you also have to like what KC has done on offense this year coinciding with his increased involvement.

Jim Harbaugh seems like the kind of guy who wouldn't take any crap from Rodgers - exactly what we need in a HC.

Amen to that.

Also as unlikely as this may be I WOULDN'T mind the thought of Lovie Smith being interviewed.
Ron Zook, former Illinois head coach. Lovie Smith, current Illinois head coach. Sorrry, I'd hate to see anything crossing north from that southern border.

Seems Rodgers and Adams are pulling for Philbin. I think most here hope that does not happen.

While the Packers keeping Philbin as their head coach might be comfortable for veteran players I truly believe the Packers need a fresh start to be successful again.

Neither of them are an upgrade over McCarthy. Dungy had a talented team in Tampa and got fired because he underperformed. Arians did well at first, then waned - maybe other coaches figured him out and he didnt adapt. Not sure.

I did forget about Harbaugh. He would be my top choice but I dont know if he will leave Michigan. He is a great illustration of coaching vrs talent. In his 1st year in SF the 49ers went 13-3 and made the NFCCG when they were expected to be a bottom feeder. In 4 yrs they went to SB once and 3x NFCCG. After he left they won only 13 games over the next 3 years. I was once on the sidelines with him and he came across to me as a complete *****. But I dont see why a coach has to be loved to be successful.
