That is thing with people talking about Rodgers. I need to figure out if they think he is playing bad or do they think he is playing bad compared to Rodgers at his best? He is not playing bad. He just hasnt been as good as we have come to expect.
QB's all over this league are playing well. I can't think of too many I'd expect to miss both of those passes to end the game for our offense, let alone Rodgers. He's being outplayed by more than a handful of QB's this year and for every bad pass, there are others that we never see because they never get thrown. He's off this year, and it's not just a little bit.

I don't ever believe he's throwing games, I can't believe I even addressed it. But he needs to be better than this, mostly because almost every starting QB in the league at least goes 50/50 on those last 2 passes. and i'm only using those 2 because they happened back to back and should be obvious to everyone. I know it's football, and I know we're paying him to be better than a below average QB when it counts. this is 2 weeks in a row he absolutely just failed to deliver anything close to what I'd expect from a starting QB when it counted.

His play call on 4 and inches was terrible. The Vikings knew right where it was going. The offense is as stale as it gets.
MM figured that safety the last time he called the play was just a fluke, so he wanted to prove everyone wrong and call it again....Hey Mike, when the defense knows you are calling a run play up the middle....guess what happens?

Case in point, compare cousins stats to Rodgers this game. Most people on this board think cousins is trash and he was superior torodgers in every way

Serious question- is this team with Rodgers any better than we were with Hundley last year?
Well we have new players on the team.

Rodgers is forced to place a lot of his trust in rookies now that Jordy is gone, and Cobb has been MIA. Building that chemistry is going to take time.

I believe someone mentioned this before, but Rodgers isn't having a bad year, it's just that he's not playing up to standards we're used to seeing him perform. Plus the fact we're losing. Rodgers has been this amazing deodorant that covered up the awful odor The Packers have been over the past few years. Now it's like when you use up the last of that deodorant before you have to buy a new one.

...Yeah that was a weird analogy but you get the idea.

it wasn't up the middle, it was off tackle. If he passes and we don't get it, we should have ran. When we run, we should have passed. We should have faked it and ran rodgers around the end right? Didn't that work a couple weeks ago. If you can't get a couple inches, what good are you really?

The difference between the 2 QB's is the coaching and the players around them. Switch teams and see who is now the guy with the better stats at the end of the night. Also, toss in the defenses they are playing against. Cousins was garbage against a good Bears defense last week.

Was it successful either time? When have the Packers had a successful run game on short yardage? What did the Vikings do with a lead on 4th and short late in the game? They threw a nice safe pass to Diggs. MM would have either kicked a FG or ran another play straight into a defense that was stopping short yardage all night.

Like that pass in the dirt Rodgers had last week right? Should have called that one? or maybe he could have called his own number again and ran a naked boot and come up short again? that play? If you can't get a couple inches, what good are you. As true in football as it is for women.

Again I wouldn't say that he isn't playing well, but he's not playing to the standards we're used to seeing him play.
Which means he isn’t playing well. He had 198 yards tonight, he missed 2 easy passes in a row for a 1st down and a touchdown. This was all done in a must win game.

I don't disagree with you that Rodgers isn't playing well, but the game tonight is just further proof how frustrating his job is. A defense that can't make any big plays, a special teams that consistently screws up, an offensive line that continually gets blown up, one WR of value and a head coach that appears to be lost as well as unimaginative with play calling.

If you expect the highest paid player in the NFL to throw every ball in the dirt, why even pass, why play Rodgers at all? Had Rodgers run a naked boot with a RPO and not made it, I would have at least given them credit for being creative AND trying something that actually has worked in the past.

I don’t disagree with you either, I am just looking solely at Rodgers. As the highest paid player in the NFL he has to be better than those last two passes which are really just a microcosm of his whole season, missing both of those throws is inexcusable for a 30mil/year man

I'm saying none of it matters if you don't make the play. Everyone clamoring all year for more jone more jone more jones, we need to run, we need to ru, we need to run. Why do we pass on every 3rd and 4th and short, we only need 1-2 yards. All year i hear this. After every game I hear it. well if we can't run it for a couple inches, how good are we?

and i've seen Rodgers throw 2 in the dirt 2 weeks in a row in crunch time that are routine gimmes for any average QB in the past 20 years. and then follow it up missing a wide open TD for the curtain call.

No doubt Rodgers isn't playing well, but his play is influenced by 52 other guys, as well as the coaches. I have a lot less anxiety about AR being able to do his job in the future, than I do the other 52 players and the coaches doing theirs better than we have seen. If we all expect #12 to carry this team every week for the remainder of his career and the team and coaches around him aren't any better than we saw tonight, things aren't going to get too much better.

you're right on that, there are only so many wide open TD's you're going to get in this league and if you can't hit them, things won't get better. Poor play call, poor execution by everyone except the QB right?

It's a legitimate excuse. Thompson spent all the premium resources trying to build a re-do of the 2010 Packer secondary while tying up big $ on Matthew's and Perry while ignoring the offense which were seeing the results of. It's a total fail and some of us saw this coming over the last two years.

Despite all the injuries the defense got enough stops for us to win but we saw just how thin we are on the OL and lack of playmakers on the outside. Rodgers was under pressure all night and got sacked multiple times.

The key to winning in the "New NFL" is scoring 30 points a game and with the overall talent were not quite there to do that consistently. The offense needs multiple upgrades. Even if they get rid of MM the offense still needs help.

I'd love to see pictures behind the play on Rodgers sacks and see how many of them we have zero WR's open when all 4 receivers are running 20+ yard routes. We truly run such a ****** scheme and the current routes require like 3-4 seconds to just develop.

Studs:

Scott
ESQ
Adams
Alexander being physical
Jones
Clark

Duds:

MM again!!!!
MM with his bad decisions (You can't go for it on 4th and 1 on the 45 yard line at 14-14 unless you always go for it!!!!!)
ARod on his missed pass to Adams.
injuries
OL
Williams

You are arguing with the wrong guy then about running the ball. While I like Jones better than what we have had back there in awhile at RB, I have been saying it for a long time, our run game is only successful if the defense is respecting Rodgers and playing to stop the pass. I can't think of many plays this year when the defense played us to stop the run and we were successful running the ball. I don't even think we have an OL that is above average at run blocking and lately, not that great at pass blocking either.

so we can't run and we can't pass, what's the call? toss it in the dirt on 2?

We need better protection for Rodgers and more offensive weapons to get where we need to be.

Nobody mentioning Matthews? Arguably his best game of the season
You are right, Clay actually played a decent game. Have to laugh at Collinsworth's comment though, something about "Clay may not be back in GB next season because the Packers have "other options" at Pass Rush. Oh really Chris, please expound on that!
