lol quick writing got me. Of course I wasn’t speaking to now lol figured most would recognize that
Yeah I got your point. But Lazard is falling fast. He didn't play well in NYC. I'm a little surprised the Jets didn't just cut him.

That said, he played well while in GB. He was a solid WR2/WR3 type and was an excellent blocker.

Lazard is a great WR3/4 for any team. Sure handed first down machine that blocks. He is never going to be a massive gainer or an insane YAC guy but you need those dirty yards and blocking types

I don’t know if it’s just me. But Favre kinda seemed like a Dirty Passer. Maybe it’s a combo of his Pad level and the way he moved around inside his clean pockets? idk
I remember when he was playing, there were a lot of Packer fans complaining that he would get cheap TDs by passing on the one or two yard line, instead of running it in. They said he padded his stats that way. That was on the Packer board I was on at the time, not this one. I never really agreed, it's not that easy making a TD pass from the one or two yard line.

Or another way of looking at it is that he's letting his teammates score the touchdown. Either could be true, really, on a case by case basis.

Brett had his flaws, of course, like everyone does, but it's not like he was completetely self-centered, glory-seeking greedmonster. I've read a number of times that his teammates regarded him as a very generous, helpful leader.

Not many of the Jets played well in 2024.

Those plays were money in the bank, you knew that pass was coming, and the other team couldn't stop it. That 1 or 2 yd TD pass was as effective as the Eagles "**** Push".

Yeah this sounds far fetched, that Favre would do anything but execute the best play for a TD - pass, run, or QB run. I don't buy it. The guy was a TD machine. Of course, he was also an INT machine. But he was always fun to watch.

That's true. They had talent - not enough for a SB but enough for a much better record. Firing the HC 5 games into the season likely destroyed the locker room morale. Truly a stupid move by Woody Whatever.

Lazard is 30 now and generally speaking it’s where WR’s oft go into decline in the Pass. Particularly the bigger guys like Allen. He’s already entrenched in his NY lifestyle and he offers a great asset in the blocking game. His recent paycut of $8.5M speaks to the general lack of interest outside of NY. His only guaranteed is $1.75mil, which isn’t that far off a Vet minimum deal. It’s actually one of the few smart restructures the Jets have made. It’s almost a replica of something we would do if in GB. I’d love to have Lazard on a 1yr like that, yet I’m guessing that ship has sailed. It’s like trying to date an old GF when you know there’s no future in it, many of us have done that including myself and maybe a hint of desperation there. lol

Good analogy. Yeah I don't wanna see any of the guys who left come back to GB, and that includes Lazard. He was solid here, given what was expected of him. He was a very good blocker and could get open. He also dropped a lot of balls and this continued in NYC.

While I think the Packers WR room is entering a period of unknowns for 2026, due to expiring contracts (Doubs, Watson, Hardman), I'd prefer they don't sign/trade for anymore Vet WR's. With the one caveat, unless that Vet is an instant starter and #1 WR, with a 2 or more year contract.

With the addition of Hardman, the Packers now have a WR room full of #2-#6 type of WR's. No legit #1 IMO. Potentially, they may use a high draft pick on a WR and that would probably instantly bump one of their current WR's off the roster. Also to consider, Wicks, Melton and Heath are all RFA at the end of 2025. So in total, the Packers currently have 6 WR's whose contracts are up at the end of 2025 and Reed's is up at the end of 2026, so 7 players competing for 6-7 roster spots.

2025 should be a season of Packer WR's either cementing their future as a Packer or one that will be their last in GB. All 6 of those players with expiring contracts still have a lot to prove. Should make for an interesting and very competitive WR room, especially if the Packers add a high profile rookie as well.

I won't be surprised to see the Packers trade one of their current WR's in the next few weeks or during the draft.

I wouldn't mind at all if we come out of the draft with a solid #2 who doesn't drop the ball
