the 2 way street has become one way because all parties are moving that way. I can't see any scenario where Reid's legal team tells him to sign some contract n0w and he probably has a decent case. Unlike his old QB, he was good at his job. Better than most and in his prime. and the NFL is moving full forward to defend themselves. we're headed into a quarter of the season in the history books, i doubt anybody is looking to sign him now, and he's not looking to sign either. I wish we had him, it would be nice to be wrong again.

I'm not an attorney, but logically speaking, nothing Reid does after filing the lawsuit should change his case. If his legal team had ample evidence to support his claim then, him signing with a team now shouldn't erase that.

Of course I used the words "should and shouldn't" because you never really know what happens when it comes to the "eyes of the court system".

Maybe I have lost my Google touch, but there is really not a lot of new news on Reid. Other than the Falcons saying they aren't interested in bringing him in after losing Ricardo Allen for the season and Reid not wanting to play for Vet Minimum with the 49'ers.

A few teams with obvious needs at S and yet Reid is still unemployed, I think his case should get stronger. :coffee:

Every fan should be used to just shouting Eric Reid in vain. Because the guy would shore up the single biggest problem on this defense with a Pro Bowl caliber guy. Unfortunately, it might lead to some political tweets so the packers front office would rather just field an awful defense.

I can't see any scenario where a team is actually trying to hire Reid. Let's not pretend it's suddenly Reid's choice to not sign a contract. The guy didn't get better while sitting out so it's not like teams are only NOW realizing how good he is. Teams didn't want to sign him for a reason (angry tweets) and that reason hasn't changed.

I'm not pretending it's suddenly his choice. I'm saying at this point, nobody has signed, which I think he has a case against. that much is obvious. But for all the people that think NOW teams are getting desperate enough to take a chance on the media following and circus that will most likely follow, I think they need to back up. Because not only is there the first giant strike against him signing anywhere, there is now a 2nd big strike, which is Reid's legal team and advice they're probably giving him. If you think you have the big case, you don't settle now, when that settlement wasn't on the table before. His chance for success playing in the league are small. Later in season, not in game shape, didn't even have a camp with anyone. we're a quarter of the way in. I didn't even have to sleep in a Holiday Inn Express to know having him sign some teams desperation contract now, if by some astronomically large long shot even appeared would be bad advice.

Packers are hosting some defensive players for tryouts. Only names I've seen are Bashaud Breeland and David Amerson.

I would happily take an out-of-shape, unprepared Reid over Brice at this point....

I don't know what's going on with Breeland. I know he failed his physical after signing with Carolina, voiding the deal. It was an infected foot injury that he got while on vacation. But he should be over it by now. So I don't know if he's out of shape or if the injury ended up being more serious, or what. If they actually get the same player he was last year, that would be fantastic. But it seems unlikely, given how many teams have tried him out and passed.

Interesting that they have 2 CB's in, that possibly doesn't bode well for the state if King's injury or possible they want to get rid of House? I was expecting a bus load of Safeties in for tryouts this week.

There could have been some. It wasn't just the two corners-- those are just the two players who Demovsky named.

I thought the PI calls on Alexander and Williams were ticky tack. Not horrible, but I don't really fault the corners. But House really earned his. They might be wanting him off the field.

As of 8/1 it was being speculated that he was still injured.

I think they are planning on moving on from House.. and moving Josh Jackson over to FS and HAHA over to SS in some packages. King will probably be out another 3 weeks at the least and they have given up a ton of big plays through the air. If you don’t have a pass rush you better have Guys who can cover...something’s gotta give with this damn defense. This playing one half of football ish ain’t gonna cut it. Especially with Brady, Goff who has weapons, Cousins again, Stafford, and Matt Ryan still on the schedule.

I think probably every one of the folks over on Sesame Street even knows we need help at Safety!
