Packers need to find or trade for some OLBs. The 2 current starters aren't very effective. If they can find someone, that will help with the weak safetys we currently have. But a Dline that can get pressure a qb will mask a lot of secondary issues

OLB's are no longer allowed to tackle the QB, didn't you get the memo from the NFL? ;)

No kidding, why trade for liabilities on defense. The game is changing, will it survive?

I remember Gilbert Brown coaching one of those teams, they showed a clip of tryouts and he was holding an arm pad and having women trying out run thru it. Like chutes a rB would go through to work on ball security, except he completely knocked her on her ***

Pats signed josh gordon.
They will now get a comp pick if they keep him this year....

The Patriots traded for Gordon, therefore inheriting his current contract which will result in him being a restricted free agent at the end of this year. If Belichick decides to tender him next offseason they will at least get a second round pick in return if another team signs him.

In my opinion improvement at safety needs to be the top priority this season.

I don't envision Gordon being signed to a lucrative contract at seasons end that would result in anything more than the Patriots getting maybe their 5th rounder back. I think that is the best they'd do.

Gordon is a restricted free agent at the end of this season, meaning the Patriots can place the original-round tender on him which was set at $1.8 million for 2018. If another team signs him New England has the right to match the offer or let him walk away and receive a second round pick (as Gordon was selected in that round of the supplemental draft) from that team in return.

and I don't foresee any team taking a chance on Josh Jordons history and giving up 2nd rounder. He's a puff away from a lifetime ban

I guess that depends on his performance with the Patriots for the rest of this season.

and even so, he's 1 puff away from a lifetime ban. considering a 5th got him this time, I don't see everyone all of a sudden thinking he's all clean and staying that way 9 months from now. He's not getting more talented as he gets older. Everyone already is aware of that.

Sure it's a possibility. Just like someone could have given them a 2nd rounder now too. But I find it highly unlikely. Even with 1000 yards in 12 weeks

Well, in that case the Patriots have the possibility to have Gordon under contract for nearly two years at a total of only $2.5 million.

and that was probably part of their risk assessment when they decided to give a 5th for him. Kudos, it might work, it might not. If he gets knocked off, at least it won't cost a lot in picks or cap, because it's a real possibility. It was a decent risk to take, I would have taken it too. But there is zero chance I even consider matching a tender and giving up a 2nd rounder for his rights, no matter how explosive of a year he has because history shows it's as likely to blow up in my face. Maybe some team does, but i doubt it.

Even the Pats have a built in defuser in that if he blows up before the end of the year, they get a 7th back.

I agree it's unlikely that another team is ready to give up a second round pick to sign Gordon but it's not out of the question either.

Gordon is just another move by Belichick of bringing a veteran in to try and improve the Patriots. I am sure someone has a list of all the times this hasn't worked, but my hunch is whatever he is doing there in New England it working. At times I wish I was more of a Patriots fan just to keep track of what Bill does, the guy is just head and shoulders above the rest in fielding a winning team and its not just because of Tom Brady.

Then the meds wear off and you are back to normal right?

Or he Albert Haynesworthed us again. Corey Colemaned us. Crapshoot in my opinion. May pan out, may not, but not a big deal yet. On the other side... Chandler Jones... its a crapshoot for all.

..... Gordon hasn't hardly played a snap in 3 years.... Yet he was drafted in most fantasy leagues.... With Brown's qb.

You figure in Rodgers or Brady in as the qb during the draft... He is #2 an with #1 potential.... Without hardly having played in 3 years....

So what does every fantasy football team owner, and belichek , know that th doesn't?

Fantasy football team owners definitely know diddly-squat compared to Gutekunst and the rest of the Packers front office.

Apples and oranges? Virtually every player transaction is a crapshoot, but how much is being risked with Gordon?
