Too bad he wasnt motivated for us in the playoffs.
Well the way he threw it in London, I wouldn`t be so sureWell, I wish I could throw a football like him. But unfortunately I completely lack talent in that regard.
That’s not the only reason. He could get paid very well outside of GB and walk away from the Packers. In my opinion he would’ve made more money doing that. So yes technically they planned to resign him at some point do it was a dummy contract (just $13m guaranteed) with an inflated balloon at the end. Also though it’s yes he took a paycut to stay in GB when you factor he could’ve gotten more total $$ total package going elsewhere, plus his residual with us.
Aaron Jones loves Green Bay and Green Bay fans love him right back
With the cap relief can we make a trade for Hopkins? Don’t know if I really want to, but would it be possible?
Well, then what was the hold up about?
Pellissaro reporting that Rodgers will sign a retro active restructure to save packers some cap. Classy move by the guy if true. He didn’t have to do that. I see it as a thank you gesture for drafting me and giving him an opportunity when many passed him up at the draft.

I don't see how anyone can't be happy with this deal. As long as Aaron doesn't get hurt this season, there will be a 1st Rd pick next year coming back. If he doesn't play well or hit the 65% snaps, the Jets probably struggle and that 2nd Rd pick is most likely better or equal to the pick we are getting this year from them. To get this draft compensation for a 39 year old QB, not to mention moving away from that contract is a win. My hope is the Jets hang around late into the season for a playoff spot, then fall off at the end, missing the playoffs, giving the Packers a top 20 pick in 2024. I have no ill will towards Rodgers, he gave us 18 years of his career. It's just time to look to the future of the franchise.I’m very happy for this deal, I was very happy to have had 12 for all these years. I hope we get better and won’t be mad if the Jets make a run either.
Should have, but didn'tThat is also odd. Any player of any age can get injured. And Rodgers did get injured last season but didn't miss any games.
My hope is that the chemistry isn't established between Rodgers and the Jets in 2023 and they struggle on offense. Maybe a few key players on defense get lost to random injuries and suddenly the Jets are 3-14 and hand the Packers the #1 pick in the 2024 draft....."Thanks for the parting gift Aaron."My hope is the Jets hang around late into the season for a playoff spot, then fall off at the end, missing the playoffs, giving the Packers a top 20 pick in 2024.

LOL....If the Packers don't win the Super Bowl in 2024, I am fine with the Jets winning it. That's my nice. That definitely would be the best scenario... I was playing nice

How funny would it be for the Jets to go get both Adams and Cobb, maybe Lewis too. I can't see Lazard pushing Wilson out of the starting lineup, so now Lazard, the $11M/year guy, is the Jets #3 or worse?Another thing to keep in mind-I believe the deal was done when it was done is because the Jets are not finished doing what they need to appease their new star signal-caller. They have to go get him his amigo from out of Vegas.
Now that NYJ knows definitively they have the #15 pick, they can tell the Raiders exactly what they can offer for Adams' services. I'd think NYJ would rather give up GB's 1st and 5th along with their own 5th while Vegas may play hardball and ask for the 1st and a 3rd. However it plays I believe the Jets were compelled by their owner to get the Aaron portion done ASAP so they could go after Davante-we'll see come draft night...
This is how I've seen this since the Jets' brass went out to California:How funny would it be for the Jets to go get both Adams and Cobb, maybe Lewis too. I can't see Lazard pushing Wilson out of the starting lineup, so now Lazard, the $11M/year guy, is the Jets #3 or worse?
It's funny that everyone talks about the Packers not giving Rodgers any tools to play with. Then the talk is the tools the Packers gave him going to the Jets. Weird. This is how I've seen this since the Jets' brass went out to California:
Hackett's main ploy to get Aaron to come to NY was this-we'll pay Lazard good money because we know he's a glue guy, we'll trade for Davante, then we'll sign Cobby & Big Dog thus putting the band back together.
Little tidbit-NYJ already has Malik Taylor on their roster who made some nice plays for the Packers years ago as a UFA...
That would make it so the Jets would have 5 former Packer pass-catchers on offense with Rodgers, veterans that would know what AR expects and can hit the ground running with him.
Or in other words-they'd have the equivalent of the 2021 Packer offense plus a potentially slight upgrade at RB in Breece Hall and the most pivotal part a coveted #2 Z receiver in Garrett Wilson.
X-Adams-#1
Z-Wilson-#2
W-Lazard-#3
S-Hardman-#4
E-Cobb-#5
X-Taylor-#6
Y-Lewis-#7
U-Uzomah-#8
H-Hall-#9
That's a hard nine. And enough talent to throw to in order to get NYJ in the thick of it within the AFC race...
The 65% of snaps for 2023 is really odd. Were the Jets thinking Rodgers might retire mid-season in 2023?
Gute didn't refill the cupboard with premium goodies that was the issue. When MLF came and in his rookie season they made a deep playoff run and instead of going after Jefferson they traded up to get Jordan Love the writing was on the wall. The Packers have been planning years ahead/trying to rebuild on the fly. The top priority has not been win a Super Bowl. The proof is in the specific moves they've made in the last 3 years to stay competitive but not sell out/go over the top to compete, which in many folks' eyes would have meant go get an additional stud wideout to pair with Adams. I mean, to rub it in all our faces they TRADED Davante away! It's funny that everyone talks about the Packers not giving Rodgers any tools to play with. Then the talk is the tools the Packers gave him going to the Jets. Weird.
Outside of Adams, the tools he had in more recent seasons just didn’t compare to the WR groups he had earlier in his career. And last year he had Watkins and a bunch of rookies who were often injured and leading the league in dropped passes. Disappointing for sure, but most rational people realize the rookie WRs take some time to develop, which turned last year into a rebuild-type season, at least offensively. It's funny that everyone talks about the Packers not giving Rodgers any tools to play with. And Paris could very well be there.
I would argue Gute's excuse to not get Aaron what he needed was that he attempted to mask his motives in the veil of building a shutdown defense on a discount. Campbell, Douglas, Jaire, Amos, drafting Savage/Gary/the UGA guys, etc. was his way of saying "Packer fans we're still trying to win" even though that wasn't REALLY what Gute was doing. He was playing both sides so as to give time for his young franchise player (Love) to develop, just as TT did decades ago with Rodgers...Outside of Adams, the tools he had in more recent seasons just didn’t compare to the WR groups he had earlier in his career. A shutdown defense would have been a much better tool to get the team over the top.
Let's just hope they word-smithed that correctly and its 65% of the total offensive snaps, not total team snaps. Then shortly after everyone was reporting 2023 snaps. That’s a really big difference and the Tide is in our favor.
