Ugh. If any of these two sign with them I'm going to be sick.

I'm hoping both find employment this year in the NFL.....They're both good guys, and I wish them well.

I would be happier, of course, if neither signed with one of our divisional rivals.

But if I'm not mistaken we have to play Seattle and Dallas this year. And I don't like either of the teams.

Better them than the Vikings, Bears or Lions.....GB plays them twice, every year.

I'm not sure how Dallas would be able to afford Cobb - They've got plenty of their own players to sign, and their cap space is pretty limited right now.

Its a one year prove it deal with a maximum value of 5M. How did the Packers not get him to this price?

  1. They didn't want him.
  2. He didn't want to come back.
  3. Packers are prioritizing their remaining cap.
IF 1 and 3 apply, this could be a sign that the Packers are comfortable with JA, King and Jackson at CB or just that they have another player in mind.

I'm guessing he wanted a guaranteed starting role, something the Packers couldn't provide if King stays healthy. He probably wanted an opportunity to prove himself and earn a more lucrative contract next year. Just my guess.

This was the last thing I was waiting for to do my latest mock draft. I'll probably move CB up on the priority list if Claiborne signs elsewhere.

I know I'm going to get more flak for this guy as well....Sam Shields is also a free agent. He played primarily on special teams for the Rams and provided depth at corner. I'd love to have him back as the 3rd or 4th corner on the depth chart.

Here comes the Burfict posts

Behavior issues aside, Burfict is a perennial Pro Bowler. He would lock up the ILB position with the loss of Ryan and Morrison. The market will be fickle on him, so if he hangs in the wind for too long, a somewhat above vet minimum contract would be ideal. He would be on a short leash, and the first sign of trouble he'd be shown the door. Really anxious to see what Gute does/doesn't do about character guys.

There has to be more to this than meets the eye. A 1 year deal for a max of 5M with incentives? For a guy who stated he wanted to stay here and was even recruiting others to come here?

I believe it's fairly simple, Breeland wants to start so he can earn the money he should've had with the Panthers. Breeland being the 2nd or 3rd CB on the depth chart likely wouldn't grant such an opportunity with the Packers. Being honest with ourselves, did anyone thing he'd earn a large contract here? He or either his agent were honest with him. Meanwhile KC just jettison Houston and Ford. They will have ample money to spend before having to pay Mahomes.

Brice signs with the Bucs today. Not sad to see him gone.

Is it just me or does it say something about the "quality" of the guys you lose, when all they can seem to find are 1 year prove it deals?

It's fine, the Ted Thompson generation is all but dead, minus the few gems he did manage to farm. It's a new dawn gentlemen.

S Curtis Riley, who started every game for the Giants last season, visited the Packers today, per source. He snagged 4 interceptions last season.

Update:

Tom Silverstein‏Verified account @TomSilverstein 7m7 minutes ago
#Giants free agent safety Curtis Riley left his #Packers visit without a contract and the two sides aren't negotiating a deal. Appears both sides will seek other options for now.

Maybe a good thing.....

"While often terrific in coverage, Riley struggled as a tackler, finishing last in tackling efficiency among full-time NFL safeties last season, according to Pro Football Focus."

Didnt he say that he would like to stay here? But I can see the argument that he wants a starting role and Packers couldnt guarantee that.
Still feels weird because I was sure he would come back. He was productive, had good chemistry and liked GB.
Now CB is a position of need, again, because I dont trust the depth they have. King cant be trusted to stay healthy for 16 games and after that they have 3 talented but inconsistent guys( i know they were rookies but they still gonna have growing pains) and one CB/S old guy in Tramon. I did not expect the Cb position being a hole again.

I'm starting to hear the #Packers aren't in good salary cap shape as reported. Because of cap charges that weren't previously calculated, multiple sources say they are very tight after their most recent spending spree. One source estimated it was close to $5M under. We'll see.

If that is true then that is not good.

The more I think about it the worse the Graham deal gets. Absolutely terrible. Also don’t understand the Mercedes Lewis deal. Could get equal production from a rookie for 570k.
