A good job of listing options, unfortunately, the Packers management has done a poor job of putting themselves in a position to get any of these guys at this time. They have major issues on Def. (CB, LB, DL) that have not been addressed; they have offense issues at Center that is CRITICAL to fill with someone who has experience, they definitely need another OL, a WR (EQ should go) and hopefully Tonyan stays; otherwise they need a TE who can get free for FD and is a target in the EZ. Where do they find the money for any of these FA, they just don't have it this year. This team got to the NFC Championship only to lose again due to poor coaching, a Def. that was a sieve and offense that struggled with a huge pass rush like they did all year long. Don't see any "fixes" so far and if anyone thinks the solution is in the draft that is a mistake.

It was pretty obvious the Packers wouldn't have enough cap space to address one of their weaknesses early in free agency. It might be smart to wait at least until after the draft to make an educated guess about the roster entering next season though.

I must have missed the news that Tonyan was tendered or signed a new contract. OTC has his 2021 cap number as 3.3M+. When did that take place?

There were reports on Tuesday that the Packers had put the second rounder tender on Tonyan. It was officially reported on the league's transaction wire yesterday.

If by "done a poor job of putting themselves in a position to sign free agents," you mean they've accrued so many good players worth paying that they're running short of cap space... then I would agree.

Free agency isn't over.

Sounds like they're interest in some OL help. If they do that, then they virtually return the entire offense that led the league in scoring and was one of the most efficient units in terms of points per drive in NFL history.

On defense, they need to add some cap friendly deals at CB and DL. We will see what happens.

I'm a little surprised at how many people are concerned that someone is going to want to give Green Bay a 2nd for the right to pay Tonyan.

I like the guy and all, and he has some legit positive traits, but his production was largely schemed for him. Surely NFL teams will see that.

OMG
I was betting myself how long it would take for the "that's it the season is over. We are doomed" voices to show up because the Packers did not sign anyone big name on the first day of free agency. I won. My left brain said last night, might right side said late this morning.

The Dolphins signed former Ravens center Matt Skura.

I wonder if the center market will start to move. The Packers have been connected to a couple (David Andrews, Brett Jones).

I hope this isn't like the season we lost Scott Wells and then signed Saturday only to find out he was completely done.

Anything is possible, but I'd presume that our interior will be some combination of Jenkins, Patrick, and Runyan.

For what I think they might cost, I am pretty interested in Brett Jones, Troy Hill, Malcolm Butler, Xavier Rhodes, Des Trufant, Daquan Jones, and Jurrell Casey.

Butler and Casey would be a real solid couple of additions. Jones is probably my least favorite of the centers we have been connected to but full disclosure I know very little about centers around the nfl.

I like your opening statement. There is a price to pay for quality.

As for the draft (and this depends on FA), I think they go for an OT who can start quickly or immediately. They are just under cap today, so they need to clear $7-8 Mil for the draft class. I’d like it if they could pick up a veteran CB or DL in FA. Those positions are much tougher for rookies, and this team is a player or two on D from getting back to the SB.

And they need a legit #2 WR, ideally slot. They could have solved this problem last year. This is going to be near impossible. For now and just my opinion, Gluten will stand pat again at receiver. And with Jones back, maybe he can.

The offense should have another great year. The D? That’s a tougher nut to crack.

I'm disappointed that Dalvin Thompson is off the market. I though he was the only one who would bring value and significantly impact the team. Now I'm thinking Rankins. He has played very well at times, but not recently. I was of the opinion, that DE was our most critical need. Going forward with Snacks and Lowry isn't what I hoped for.

As far as CB, we definitely need an upgrade and there are a bunch of okay players. There are a bunch of good prospects in the draft as well.

As far as center, we have a luxury of drafting an OT, OG, or OC. We have a bunch of guys who can play multiple positions, a great coach, and a OL friendly system. The timing is crucial and difficult, but hopefully our replacementa are smart and pick it up quickly.

Personally, I’m more than fine with GB not paying 11M APY for a guy who minimally affects passing downs. Let Minnesota spend their space unwisely.

They can find help for the run defense for much less.

I hope they keep Harrison and sign another mid tier dl and draft one With cb..sign a vet and draft a couple. Ol..I think they should try to get a vet at rt..or draft a guy high that can start right away. Maybe Stepaniak is fully healed and ready to compete? I think they can get by at c. Wouldn't mind a cheaper vet there for insurance though.

This is year 3 for OT Tosh Nijman...gotta think/hope he's in "the plan" if GB's invested 2 yrs into the guy.

ILB Curtis Bolton is a FA...played pretty well for us 2 yrs ago, then blew his ACL & was released for failing his physical. Might be worth another look for competition/depth.

Kyle Fuller has come down a little bit. He isn’t an all pro like he once was. But he would be great in a #2 role and huge upgrade to King.

If all they did in FA was sign him, I’d be happy.

Fangio and the Broncos expected to push for Fuller. His former DC will likely be a big draw.

Hopefully he would rather play for a contender and beat his former team.

I would guess the broncos are the favorite but the Packers signed him to the offer sheet before so he obviously knows the organization likes him

They won't trade him to GB and we'd have to clear even more cap space but.....

Casey Hayward would make an excellent outside corner opposite Alexander. Also would like Adoree Jackson, Desmond King, or Troy Hill to help supplement a somewhat barren cornerback room.
This is merely a guess (or maybe some fiscal strategy) but there’s a flood of players at CB out there waiting. When you gave a minimal amount of funds like we do, it just might be a worthy gamble to wait a little longer than normal. The platoon of CB’s left standing will be hungry for a contract and there will likely be some above average ones that sign for less than normal or anticipated. That simultaneously keeps the compensatory balance sheet in check as it would likely cancel Jamaal’s (late rounder) departure but nothing more.

A Veteran would also take pressure off of us to not force us to draft another CB higher on the draft board. If ones there and worth our selection great. If a CB isn’t situated properly around our selection, we can pass until one is available, or trade up where it’s not so costly (late day 2-early day 3)

I’d feel good to have DT, LB and CB on our team inside our 1st 5-6 draft selections (end of round 5 latest)
If we don’t land a CB in FA and King is gone, we’ll likely be confronted with doubling down at CB similar to our multiple stabs at WR and RB
