With each day passing I feel its less likely we resign Perry. The season he had will get him a 10 mil per contract with a team like Jets, Pats, Eagles or Panthers. I feel we will resign Lacy to a 3Mil per contract. Which is groovy in my book. I think we overpay Hyde at 6Mil per and sign Lang to a 8Mil per season with Tretter getting close to the same elsewhere. The big Question is Jared Cook and what his market is. Will it be 3 or will it be 6 per. Its very unclear to this point what he will sign for? I feel we will find out in the next 48 hours though. Peppers and Datone are other question marks!! Datone is so inconsistent I don't know what to think, bring him back at 3Mil per ot will a team like Dallas offer 5mil per which I think is too high? Peppers would be well worth a 1 year 3Mil contract if we use him on a limited pass rush scenario basis! My main feelings are we lose Perry and overpay for Hyde, who I originally thought would get a 3 year 12mil contract but not anymore!!

I would absolutely prefer the Packers to sign an unrestricted free agent cornerback instead of having to give up a first round pick to acquire a veteran.
I agree. Out of curiosity Captain what's your prediction on where Perry signs? Mine unfortunately is Dallas, Philly or the Pats at 10mil per. I just see his 2016 season putting a price on him that TT doesn't want to pay.

Lol no way all those guys are coming back. I'd resign Cook, Lang, and maybe Lacy and call it a day as far as resigning former Packers. Perry is going to chase the money.

My post said I predicted we pay Lang and overpay Hyde and alsk sign Lacy. I agree that Perry will seek higher money elsewhere. Other than that IDK! I also want Cook signed and would prefer him over Lacy! If we could resign Perry,Cook,Lang and Hyde! But thats my wish list. I think TT signs Lang and Lacy and overpays for Hyde!

Just read we signed Don Jackson to return this year so now we have TyMo and Don Jackson. Now we see what happens with Lacy plus the draft. I would love to see McCaffrey or Kareem Hunt as our back over Lacy imo! Unless he signs for 2-3 mil then Tymo, Lacy, Kareem Hunt and Don Jackson looks like a good group 2 me!!!

A guy like Davon House and Elvis Dummerville would be good pickups that won't break the bacnk. Then bring back Lacy for a one year dear along with Peppers. That's already an IMPROVEMENT to the current roster.

The Packers don't need another mediocre cornerback like House but a veteran #1 at the position.

Out of curiosity what did TT do in free agency this time last year? I could look it up but someone knows off the top of their head out there!

Thompson had already re-signed Guion, Crosby and Taylor at the time free agency officially started last year.

I have a feeling that another team will offer Perry more money than the Packers are willing to pay. I have no idea which one that might end up being though.

I'll tell you one thing..with the slew of WRs they're going to have to deal with in the NFC they better get a damn guy who can at least cover or else they will continue to get torched through the air. That I GUARANTEE you. They don't have a single guy who can cover a #1 wr with success ...going to be a long year if they go into 2017 thinking this is a good group.

The Patriots are signing CB Stephon Gilmore, most likely resulting in them not bringing back Logan Ryan.

It sounds like the Packers are working with Lang to get a deal done today as well.

How is it possible for the Patriots to keep signing bigger name players when they have Brady? Are we just paying our underwhelming players too much?

I'm not saying this because I wanted us to sign Gilmore, but what the hell is going on? No matter what they do, it's always the right move and yet we're left grasping our ankles in free agency and struggle to fill holes.

The Bills and Lions are interested in signing TE Jared Cook.

If the Packers lose Cook I'll be livid..I'm not really worried about Buffalo because they have qb questions...but Cook and Enron mixed with Stafford will cause our defense major issues.

That would suck to loose Cook. If the Packers do and don't find a suitable replacement for him in another FA, TE all of a sudden becomes a high priority in the draft. Given how strong the TE draft is expected to be, I can almost see TT thinking there isn't the need to resign Cook.

Because they GET IT. Kraft and BB understand that at the end of the day winning the SB for the organization is all that matters. Even if they "rent" a player for a year. The Packers and TT don't seem to get that. TT is so worried about drafting and developing guys mixed with resigning his own guys so much that he literally has the organization stuck in neutral.

The Patriots have the best GM/head coach combo in the league in Belichick. They annually prove there's a smart way to use free agency yet Thompson doesn't get it.

This is frustrating. I'm pretty sure this is why we can't sign other players, we overvalue our own players. Perry played great last season, but the dude is never healthy and he's not worth $12 million per year. These kind of signings leave us bankrupt and keep the status quo. I know we need edge rushers, but signing an often injured guy who could have been labeled a bust before last year, for that much money is a mistake.

I'm really surprised Cook made it to free agency and would be disappointed if he ends up signing somewhere else as well.

I would like to see the numbers first before evaluating the move.

Perry missed 5 games the past 3 seasons.
Perry graded out as the best run stopping Olb in football last year
Perry lead the team in sacks

We don't know the money yet but it doesn't matter if he was once considered a bust because he isn't one anymore

Not sure if this guy knows anything

Michael Rodney‏ @PackersNotes
Was told by two people that #Packers are getting close with TE Jared Cook. Could be a big and very expensive day for GM Ted Thompson.

It should be a big and expensive day for the GM of a team that is "this" close to making it back to the SB. I just hope he leaves enough Cap space to address the CB position effectively as well as another OLB, RB and depth on the OL.

I hope the Packers get a cb and depth on oline in fa. They can get another Olb and an rb in the draft. And more depth on oline
