This is a trap game for Packers. So we can’t take the foot off the pedal, if we jump to 21-27 points at half, we need to drop another 25 in second.

also, with goff injured, Anderson not running, rams defense can only do so much to knock Arizona out.
We want to beat bears, let cardinals in as well.
Rams is the no1 defense, that’s super bowl tested, that has the personnel to slow packers, so them not being there helps us.

bears will sneak in as 7, let them deal with Saints and drew Brees and their **** and dunk passes, let cardinals fight division battle with Seahawks, we get 2 targets with one weekend. Should bears beat Saints (apparently they are resurgent lol) then they come to lambeau for divisional weekend 1 vs 7 seed, and we take care of business there. We are left with winner of Seahawks/cardinals vs Tampa bay for nfc championship.
JFC!! you give Packer fans on the west coast a bad name..........trap game? Give me a frickin break! Now go to your room!

I recall that top 2 seeds were the division winners at least 2/4 but usually 3/4 every year.

From 1990-2019 the top two seeds in each conference had a combined record of 89-31 (.742) in the divisional round after receiving a bye in the first round.

Yup and if my quick eye scan of the past 7 SB participants is correct, both teams playing had bye weeks to open the playoffs. Actually, just going down the list for several years after that, seems like a lot of teams that reached the SB did so after a 1st round bye.

Since 1990, when the league expanded the playoffs to 12 teams, 48 out the 60 teams that made it to the Super Bowl had a bye in the first round.

All TDs to Davante for icing.

Sorry, now that Kamara is out I'll need at least 4 of those to go to Jones. Yeah I know. We are one of the few leagues that plays our championship in week 17. The thing is if we had started the playoffs a week earlier I would have been the 6 seed and lost in the first round instead of the 2 seed with a bye. At least this year no one in our championship game for either team is being rested...or arrested for that matter.

As for the Packers/Bears, its a game we should win handily even without Bahktiari. We probably will pull out one that is closer than it should be because its a division game an the Bears may be playing for more than just their pride. I don't know if the Cardinals/Rams being the same time is good or bad. If it was earlier and the Cards lost the Bears wouldn't HAVE to win so that might affect them but if they won that might spur them on. I wonder if they will have updates from that game in the stadium. If not all I can say is if the Cardinals are losing we should have someone on the sidelines with a big sign saying so.

Thanks Captain. Even higher than I would have guessed, but reason enough to really want that bye. Some might attribute it to "they got a bye and made it to the SB because they were 1 of the 2 best teams in their conference". Which is true, but I bet in many cases the #3 or #4 teams weren't that much worse. Much like the NFC this season, I don't see a huge drop-off between the Packers, Saints and Seahawks, yet only one of them will get the bye.

Personally I believe playing to make the playoffs is a greater motivator than playing to attain a higher seed. Getting the bye may not be a great enough enhancement. Just trying to get to the postseason puts the team already in playoff mode. "run the table," R-E-L-A-X, Win and in.

Agreed. I have been saying this for several weeks, hoping the Bears would have been eliminated before this game, so it meant very little to them. The success of their season pretty much rides on this one game. Lose, they go home at 8-8, after starting the season 5-1. Win, they keep playing and probably knocked their rivals out of the #1 Seed.

Packers are playing for the #1 seed, very important, but they could still get it with a loss and no matter what, their season continues beyond tomorrow. The key is going to be not to get behind early, don't let those "oh well, its just a game" emotions creep in. Because if that happens, the Bears are going to get even more fired up and confident.

This game could potentially set the table for what happens to the Packers during the playoffs. Let's carve up some Bear for appetizers.

Hopefully the Rams are blowing out the Cards early so the great motivator to make it to next week is tempered by an assured #7 seed.

I can't hep but think that from the players' perspective, playing for the bye means playing for the week off, at least in part. Win here, and they don't have to go to work tomorrow, or whatever their schedule is.

Well if you think about it that way, the Bears are playing for taking the next several months off. I think we should be good neighbors and help them to achieve that! :coffee:

Khalil Mack moves around a little bit, but for the most part, played on left end against us in the last game, opposite of Turner on the right. I'll be interested to see if he plays a little more over the LT in this one with Bakhtiari out.

In my opinion the game would have been a close one even with Bakhtiari playing. While I still think the Packers should be favored to win it I don't expect a cakewalk by any means.

Interesting tidbit (at least in my opinion), the Bears would become only the third team in NFL history to make the playoffs in a season in which they had a six game losing streak.

Hopefully the Rams are blowing out the Cards early so the great motivator to make it to next week is tempered by an assured #7 seed.

I highly doubt that will happen with John Wolford starting at quarterback for the Rams and them missing some other key players.

Even though Bakhtiari is the big talking point, I'm most curious to see how our defense performs against Chicago.

Guess you were asleep when he converted on the bomb earlier in the game.
I was awake and I have said this about him last year and a couple weeks ago he is never gonna turn into a good receiver he will never be better than a 50/50 receiver and that drop could cost them cuz now I see there embarrassing offense in the second half coming out on the field if they blow this game there are gonna blow it in the playoffs I don’t wanna hear if Seattle loses etc.. handle your business urself no hand outs or charity
