After 2 games half this forum were writing off Rodgers. I would say there is no specific time frame, but some circumspection should be applied.
Should be? Yes

But you're not going to see much of that circumspection stuff here. Lol

Boy he sure does like to run to the outside haha.
It's like he's afraid of getting tackled and going nowhere.

Is it on him or an O-line that isn't opening up the holes?

Lacy is a tank moving forward and plowing down the D for a few extra yards.

Wow its crazy seeing you guys turn on starks so fast because lacey has been doing good. Starks has barely have had any chance to play. He also needs enough touches to get in a grove. Starks is a solid back he is tough as nails. He barely gets injured hes always finishing his runs moving forward. He has not had many holes to choose from, hes always in on obvious run situations. Starks gives more punishment to defenders then he takes Ive seen him put linemen, linebackers and safties out the game. Im a starks supporter.
I agree with you but up to a point.

We are not seeing the Starks we used to see.
Is it on him, the O-line or a bit of both why he is off to a lousy start?
As a pro, shouldn't he be off to a better start? He is no Sanders but I would think we should see something better from a Packers pro player.
Yes, give him more of a chance but how much more should we give him before writing him off?
I'm willing to give him one more season.

12 carries for 9yrd spread over 3 games. Is that any justice to really say hes not playing well?

I think Starks will be fine. He has had nowhere to run on his few carries thus far.

The offensive line, aside of Bulaga, has been decent blocking for the run this season.
Maybe as a unit, overall. I know JC Tretter cost us a turnover when he got shoved backwards 2 yards on 4Th and 1 against MN. I think he still has more room for improvement when it matters.
I don't believe Linsley would've gotten manhandled on that crucial down

Unfortunately, he looks like he needs a little less "tank" in him at times.

I just want to know why the team no longer throws the ball to the running backs.

A lot of overreactions in this thread. Starks had his best year last season and he's barely played this year. He'll come through with some clutch big runs late in games like he always does.

He's slow. Coming to the end of the road. Let's see how many years it takes the 'braintrust' to get it.

I agree that Starks has not had enough attempts to make any judgement. However, I understand why some people may be doing so. In the few times that Starks has had the ball, he did not appear to have that extra spring in his movements that he has shown in past years. I have always been amazed at how quickly running backs go from dominant to ineffectual. Before Adrian Pederson went down, I was already wondering if he had hit his wall. It is not unreasonable to speculate that Starks may have hit his. BUT, at this point that is all it is ... speculation. He definitely needs more attempts before any conclusions can be drawn.

IMO Starks has never been a great back in an obvious run situation. His strength seems to be on downs where the defense is expecting pass or when he comes out of the backfield and catches the ball. He doesn't seem to have the power or the speed to get by 7 in the box.

While Tretter was pushed back on that play Lang and Bulaga double teaming Shamar Stephen and letting Brian Robison unblocked didn't help either.

Let's not forget that the coaches see him in practice .... we don't. They probably have a much better idea of where he is than we do watching his 9 carries.

Was debating creating a new thread, but oh well.

What is Starks' situation? I know he had a concussion forever ago but he's not getting better? What is with our team and these long term concussions?

Thank you! It's nice to see someone knows how to use the search function and keep things tidy. :)

Out of the clear blue western skies...
Starks was struck by a truck that failed to stop at an intersection and he was probably hit broadside. He's lucky to be alive. However, since he's still on the roster so there must be a chance that he could still make an appearance in the playoffs. He's far better picking-up blitzing players than either Montgomery or Michael, and those guys make me nervous in protection. It would be a fitting end to a career if his Packer swan song came after playing in the SB as a contributor, even if it was in a minor role. Who knows, maybe his block would allow Rodgers just enough time to throw the winning TD. The way this season has unfolded anything is possible.

Lol no...we don't care about Starks. Jk but his time is over here. We don't need Starks taking carries from Monty or Michael. He had a good run in 2010 . Good luck to him.
