Of course he has mixed feelings, Im sure a lot of the players do. But he's plenty smart enough to know how things work. Love is good and young and he has a chance to be special. Unlike us, Bakh got to see Love practice against the #1 defense. Im quite sure he understands the cycle. And hed be glad to be a part of Loves transition from good to great.
Good post and for the most part, I agree with it.

It also wouldn't surprise me if Bahk has slightly checked out and is thinking about retirement. His buddy is gone, his mindset was this was a new and rebuilding team, his knees and the rest of his body aren't getting any younger and he made Bank with his last $92M contract, which as of now, $80M+ has been paid out to him. Whatever is up with his knee(s), could get to the point where it isn't worth risking spending the rest of his life in a wheel chair or barely being able to get around on his own.

Not sure if the stat is available but it wouldn't surprise me if the average age of retirement in the NFL is slowly dropping, as the salaries increase.

He very likely just wants to be healthy...cant blame him for that, and if sitting out a game on turf helps his chances of being available for the rest. I guess it is what it is. Not ideal but the best case scenario

First choice id have Bakh ushering in the Love era for a couple seasons. Reality is this is his last season in Gb. If the choices are trade him at the deadline this season or release him in the off season. Then you gotta trade him now. If you think you can trade him in the off season ahead of the draft, obviously you do that
And if he misses enough games and spends the year on the questionable list each week will his trade value drop quite a bit.

If Bahk can prove that he is healthy, can stay healthy and wants to play past 2023, he could be a valuable trade piece before the deadline and for next year. For a top LT, his remaining salary would be very affordable for another team. At this point, I don't think anyone would question his abilities, when he is able to play.

2023: Prorated amount of his 2023 salary ($1.2M) + $323,521/game roster B

2024: $10.7M salary + $1 M bonus + $500K/game roster bonus

Of course that would mean that the Packers would still have his pro-rated dead cap hit for 2023 on the books and the 2024 Dead Cap of $19,065,514 to account for.

Much like Rodgers, if Bahk wants to keep playing, I think it would be doing him and his career a big favor, if he was traded.

Which was
the way he got hot showed anger. something is awry sorry to say. Either MLF is frustrated with a player refusing to play on turf and using swelling as a front..or...frustrated that a great player cannot go anymore so much so that he literally almost blows his top? Just struck me as odd.

I admit it, our HC doesn’t hide his disappointment very well.
That press conference going over the injury list yesterday confirmed exactly what you are saying.
There’s swelling in my derrière just listening to it

I could be wrong, but I think MLF was just frustrated by pretty much the same question over and over about Bahk. Let's face it, Reporters smell blood in the water and they want to see the shark. MLF is just as frustrated as everyone is about not having his star LT, but he's got a lot more to think about than just one player. Hate to always bring up Rodgers, but he took a crap load of energy from fans, the front office, coaches and maybe even a few players. It's nice not having all that turmoil around anymore, I hope that the Bahk situation doesn't turn into Rodgers 2.0

Better to put him on IR than to just delude people each and every week. Now it is over and we have to move on. We were not expecting a winning season but we did expect Bahk to be a part of it.

There should be a few teams out there who would sign him at the lower cost and then deal with him week to week like us.

Nobody, and I mean nobody, wants an OT that can't play. He's a great player and a good locker room presence, but even at a league minimum contract he is taking up a roster spot. We are talking about an ACL tear from almost three years ago. Any GM should be shot for even kicking the tires. I'd be happy if someone out there is that desperate, but I highly doubt it.

Having an arthroscopy surgery and then another surgery after that. He's done for this year unless it goes well and he feels good enough to come back next year. My bet is late in the season or sometime shortly after it he retires.
