I get it. That's why I do not totally dismiss that if AR had been given 1 or 2 more pieces around him from the 2020 draft that it is conceivable, they could have been to another SB and possibly won.
I just realized the thread we were in. :)

My final thought. Yes, I agree with you, with a few more offensive weapons, Rodgers and the Packers may have had a better shot at another Lombardi. However, pinning that "mistake" just on the 1st round pick in the 2020 draft, as the place they messed up, is overlooking EVERY other draft pick, Free Agent signing or trade, in EVERY year from about 2012 to 2022.

FTR, I was disappointed in rounds 1-4 of the 2020 draft. This is the 1st time in years that I only see 1 game in these 2023 playoffs that IMO has a clear favorite.

So are you saying if Gute hadn't screwed up and drafted Dillon, Deguara and Martin, Love would have a shot at winning a SB? :D :coffee:

The first two are over and both blowouts. Boy does that Houston QB look good as well as Collins, his receiver. Neither of the losing teams had much of a pass rush. The O lines on the winners looked great on protection. And I did not like that semi-delayed blitz by Miami. It seemed like it took forever just for the blitzers just to get to the line of scrimmage. Don't know why they seemed to have to either send 4 or send 6.

The Patriots lead the (modern) NFL with 37playoff wins. There are 4 teams sitting at 36 wins & at least 1 will overtake NE this year. Those 4 are: Packers, Cowboys, 49'ers, & Steelers. Going to be a hostoric playoffs. Go Packers!!

Rice had a great game and the noticeable difference for me was Mahomes ability to keep plays alive. Patrick had more yards rushing than the leading Miami rusher, in a game where you’d naturally expect to run more Miami largely ignored controlling the tempo with quick 3 n outs.

I thought it strange that Miami waited until the closing minutes to throw it downfield (threw lots of short stuff incomplete) where they had some success early and late. They went conservative while down by 2+ scores until the game was already decided.

Using the TE early and often proved effective. Kelce would’ve easily hit 100 yards had he caught a few of those drops. Love he’s a smart player he fought for every yard.

They said the fact that Miami's top 3 pass rushers were out with injuries led to all of the blitz packages.

Interesting...both Dallas & GB should bring a lot of QB pressure, today. The team more capable of OL dominance (pass pr & run game) should emerge with the win.

I thought Miami's offensive game plan was horrendous. All those quick passes to the side and way behind the line of scrimmage were ridiculous. Using those other receivers as pointless blockers forces you to throw it there even though it's going to be for a loss. I hope we don't use those plays today...at least not multiple times. Better to let the TE go a little past the line of scrimmage off to the side w/o a bunch of blockers. imho

45 by the Texans! And didn't Cleveland have the league's top defense? Go figure.

Don't pay much attention to the other teams, but I saw an interesting comment in one of the post-game discussions. Evidently the Browns D was the best at PPG at home and the worst at PPG on the road.

I don't know, but I hope it keeps happening. Especially if they hire Belichick.

Not that I have anything against Belichick exactly, but the combination of the Cowboys, Jerry Jones, and Belichick? Just too nauseating. Especially if they fire McCarthy, who has won 12 games a year with them, he doesn't deserve it.

No way in hell Belichick will coach the Cowboys. He would never get along with Jerruh. They're both massive control freaks.

I thought I read they were, if not friends, at least amicable acquaintances. Jerruh swallowed his pride and voice to get Parcells for a few years, didn't he?

No matter either way. What has he done without Brady other than run the Patriots into the ground?
