Then they could of kept him this year, and still had plenty of options for cap room next offseason.
Wonder if the play of Taylor / Barclay ends up hurting the team or Rodgers, and if so, how much support will this move make then?

I agree they could have and maybe should have kept him. I can't figure it out but i also think calling it a dumb move without knowing everything the staff saw is as simple minded as saying we just need to trust TT. He did slip last year. He does have back issues.

A few things here:

1.) I heard on social media Sitton's release was a personal conduct issue along the lines of Ritchie Incognito. Haven't been able to prove or disprove this.

I always wondered what happened to the offense after the bye week last year.... ? We come in dominant, and came out looking like a steaming pile.... Why?

I suspected there was a shock in the locker room of sorts. Something that caused a rift and was on everyones mind. The drama that ensued secretly, took the 100 percent attention away. and screwed up the chemistry...

?

Maybe sitton was involved somehow? And messed up by bringing it back this year.....?

Dont mess with team chemistry. Your services are no longer needed.

Yep, and we saw how that situation went down. Once a player not named a QB hits 30, hes in that gray area of "any given season" his play declines. Just look at what New England does with some of its players at times. They trade and cut starters left and right. There are a couple of OL examples via NE thrown in there as well. Hell, even a double digit sack man is a recent example (albeit he was traded), but still. And nobody questions NE's philosophy.

They also have done a lot more winning for a longer than anyone else.

Yet we do very similar to them. NE never holds on to vets for too long. Sure, they'll sign a vet to plug in holes, we do too at times, but you don't see them giving non-QB vets 30+ years old big contracts.

Sitton apparently has had double digit teams contact him. The Packers started shopping him this morning. Can't believe they couldn't find a deal

Is he not a vet that was overpaid when we should have let him go? My point stands and even Wimm will back me up in that.

Your argument doesn't fall into the parameters of the conversation. So yes, invalid.

I'm not 100% sure how accurate this is, but I'm a little surprised by the Sam Barrington & Carl Bradford cuts. Obviously the Sitton release was a shocker.

Green Bay Packers
Players cut to reach 53: TE Kennard Backman, ILB Sam Barrington, LB Carl Bradford, CB Robertson Daniel, OLB Reggie Gilbert, OL Lucas Patrick, TE Casey Pierce, DL Brian Price, RB Brandon Ross, G Josh Sitton, FB Alstevis Squirewell, WR Herb Waters

Please stop comparing what TT does to what Belichick and company do. Yes they cut and get rid of guys but they are way way way more active Bringing vets in to contribute immediately.

We are already one of the youngest teams in the league.

And now the word on the street is that Sitton was pissy that TT and Ball hadn't offered him a new contract and TT was like, "Bye Felicia."

Cutting Sitton derails the season.
Period. They have no replacement for him. TT should be fired for that move. He just destroyed a promising season.

Well we can tell you how the season goes. You obviously have no reason to watch since you know the season is over.

LS Rick Lovato released as well. That means the Packers don't have a long snapper on the roster.

Im not sure if this is sarcasm but just in case it isn't....

After the initial shock wore off I realized one important truth. Cutting Sitton only opens up a question mark at RG after they move Lang back to LG. Taylor, while he hasn't had a great camp, played well enough in actual games last year that I'm not going to proclaim the season over if the coaches feel confident enough he can be at least serviceable at what I would label the least important position on offense that's not FB.

Not saying I would've cut Sitton. I wouldn't have. But doom and doom prognosticators need to step back and realize it's just guard. And RG at that

Did we really keep 7 WRs or did I miss either Davis or Janis getting put on IR?

If they wanted Sitton they could have kept Sitton. This isn't hockey and they aren't over the cap with a need to get down before the first game.
