You know there are years where the top team(s) look beatable and you're like man if we could just get in we could beat the #1 team. I do NOT feel that this year. I am scared for any team who has to play the Saints. The Vikings PISSED them off... And now the entire league is dealing with the consequences.
I understand feeling that way, but this is a week to week league. Anything can happen.

The '01 Rams seemed unbeatable. The '07 Patriots seemed unbeatable. The '13 Broncos seemed unbeatable. The list goes on.

And that's the thing. There used to be a time, like in '87 with the Giants, that you knew by week 12 they were going to win the Superbowl. They were clearly just so much more powerful and better than everybody else. But in today's NFL, the league of parity, not so much.

No doubt. As it stands (assuming GB wont make it in), Id like to see the saints face the Steelers. Don't care who wins that match-up. I like Brees and would like to see him get 1 more. But how satisfying it would be for the Steelers to win it just to spite Leveon Bell. Petty I know, it aint below me at this point lol

LOL thanks. I thought for a while about something Packer related and there's kind of a double-meaning. I'll probably keep this one. And if Gutekunst proves to be an incompetent baffoon, I can always have it changed to "DasIstNichtGute"

I was going to go with "EhrIstGute" which would make more sense, but I thought Das sounded a little better. I don't know, should I make it Ehr? What do you think AM? Now I'm starting to think Ehr is better. Hmmm...
DasIstGute was perfect. At least for me. My Grandpa reverted back to German in his elderly years and that is something he would say to me as we were eating. My German us poor, not sure what your new name means exactly. To "Ehr" is human and you can always change back.

This really is the bottom line. With all the threads about Rodgers doing this or that, the truth is he is not really doing anything differently than he always has except throwing away more.
That's hard to argue, isn't it? Nobody went out of their way to identify the open receiver underneath when he threw those balls to Tonyan or Adams, or all of the other long completions over the last decade. He used to routinely pass up Finley open over the middle for the 10 yard gain. The fact of the matter is when Rodgers sees single high safety or one-on-one on the perimeter or he's in scramble play mode, he's looking first to go down field. Always has. He did catch Seattle in a 12-man situation and threw underneath for a nice gain. In past seasons that was always a deep shot. So there's that.

If one does not like Rodgers' approach now, then they should have disliked it when the team was winning with it. There's an argument for that, but not much for, "what's wrong with Rodgers now is x or y or z".

I would note one area where he's not quite the same. While his straight line speed looks about back to normal, he may not have the same lateral quickness with the knee injury. His past uncanny ability to slip and slide through and out of the pocket has not been on display. It seems he's getting tripped up more trying to escape. That may he the reason we're getting more throwaways.

You hit the nail on the head with every single point.

I pointed out that Tonyan actually had a step early in his route and was open much sooner than he threw it :) But I do think pressure would have prevented him from throwing it to him if he was looking at him in the first place.

But yes, when you lose, people generally look for reasons why and when they win, it covers things up. Like nobody in Saints land is talking about delay of game penalties or wasting timeouts twice for the game clock running down last night.

Sorry. Das is "it" by itself or "the" when put before a noun. Ehr is "He".

Not sure I understand. Right before Thanksgiving, they were 7-3, and even after the loss to the Bears on Thanksgiving, they were 7-4. Don't remember a lot of "the season is over" talk.
Okay, whichever season started 4-6.

One hundred percent true, as we have had in various times in the past, you can get away with being sloppy with clock management and penalties. Now that the margin for error is that much tighter, we can't afford to let clock management incidents happen. I think what was more telling was that he decided to punt in the first place when you were down to one timeout and your defense was decimated by injuries and hadn't been able to consistently stop the run all night. I was in the stadium in Seattle and we all knew it was over as soon as the punt team went out (the collective energy just drained).

Why do people always point out the games we shoulda coulda woulda won but never mention games like San Francisco and Chicago that we should probably have lost.

Also, we never led in New England, it was close for 3 quarters and then they pulled away and beat us by 2 touchdowns. Not sure why this is a game we could have easily won.

Save your breath man. It apparently doesn't work that way. Every game we win is a good legit win and we deserved it and every game we lose we could have or should have won or we actually beat the other team we just beat ourselves worse.

Good points all but the bolded part makes a lot of sense. Rodgers has always been the kind of guy who could take advantage of certain defense and when he sees that defense he is going to try to do just that.

If he come to the line and sees favorable coverage on Adams and decides that's the play he is going with I don't have a problem if that's his first read and he thinks it is there then fine, go for it. If he all of a sudden notices a safety dropping back to double Adams and decides to go to his second and third reads and then passes up the open guy that's what I have a problem with. If he wants to go downfield fine but if everyone is covered take the short gain rather than try to force it deep.

I'm not sure I made sense but I know what I mean.

Maybe. I thought the salient part of my post was, "There's an argument for that, but not much for, "what's wrong with Rodgers now is x or y or z". Folks liked it when it worked and translated to wins but they don't like it now when it doesn't. The throws are Rodgers magic when completed, forced when they are not.

My issue is the accuracy drop, overthrows and bounce passes. Something not right whether due to injury or whatever. Just something not right.

Uh huh.

Rodgers career completion percentage is 64.9. His completion percentage this season is 61.9. That 3% difference amounts to one throw per game. That's easily accounted for in the throwaways by themselves, and then some. Overthrows? That's part of the game if the object is to avoid interceptions. Watching most of the first half of the Saints-Eagles game, Brees' downfield throws were regularly off the mark but they scored anyway. Bounce passes? Nobody seemed to want to observe that Rodgers made a lot of poor throws on screens and short touch passes for the better part of his career and those throws are still not a strength.

The problem is experience and the talent level. This team is simply not good enough or resiliant enough to overcome shooting themselves in the foot. They don't beat decent teams if they don't play a clean game. Better teams get away with that sometimes.

It's not just that Rodgers is a tad off, it's that other NFL QBs are performing at insane levels. Probably because the current rules favor the passing game, but whatever the reason, it's happening. Rodgers passer rating is 102.2, which is great, but there are seven guys with a better rating this season, including Cam Newton. Six are above 110 and Brees is at 126.9! We're doing well, but around the league the passing game has been lifted, while we stay about the same.

We've got some good talent and some good weapons, but it seems like we make too many mistakes or hit rough spots where we don't move the ball. Maybe with more experience some of the young guys will come around. Even a few breaks here and there could make a huge difference and maybe instill more confidence in them.

First you jinxed the freaking Seattle game, and now you're already laying down on your sword when there are plenty battles to be fought. (figuratively speaking) Pitiful!

You're afraid of the big bad saints? Please! Any given Sunday!

But right now we just got to make into the playoffs and crazier things have happened! This season is far from lost!
I’m sorry man!! Lol It’s just cold hard facts haha like I said over a month ago that we go 4-6-1 through the m
Heard all the same talk back in 2015 around Thanksgiving too.
im sorry man! lol it’s just cold hard facts.. I mean let’s be real they suck this year something just is off... yeah I agree any given Sunday! But back when they were 3-2-1 I said they were gonna finish 4-6-1 over the games through the Vikings.. they gotta win out to get in.. it’s possible I think if they can beat Minnesota they can turn it around maybe and get fired up otherwise I will stick to my gut pick at either 7-8-1 or 8-7-1 final record.. I can see them choking to atlanta.. this game is defining the season on what they are gonna do.. win then ride it out but lose they are done

He has had uncharacteristicly bad overthrows and ground ball bounces this year. I don’t know if it is due to his injury or not, but he has had non Rodger like throws at important times so far this season. Something is off.

The difference now is the Packers are not winning and that is the problem. This is not to excuse anything Rodgers May or may not be doing but losing magnifies everything. If the Packers were 7-2 right and had beat the Rams would we even be having these myriad of discussions?

Packers need to start winning now, another loss is pretty much unacceptable at this point. Start winning and everything goes away.
Winning is nice and you and others will probably take what you can get. I guess I will to.
It's just that victory is so much sweeter when they beat playoff contention teams instead of ones with a matching, sub par or losing record.
Sure, we beat the 9ers. Ho hum. That was expected.
Beat the Rams? That was unexpected and would have been nice if we had.

One game at a time and I do not for a second believe that a win will turn the table.
It's impossible to know what Packers team will show up.

Yep, exactly. I have to say that this could the most perplexing season that I can ever remember ... and that has been a long time of active fandom.

I'm not even going to pretend to have an answer to whatever is going on at 1265. I'm not built that way - maybe because I've played and coached, though not anywhere near NFL level. You just get a different feel, understanding and love of the game to be screaming through a keyboard.

We, as fans, have enlightened solutions to issues we have NO first hand knowledge of...and by god, we're right because we're told so by some talking head.

Yeah...it's not pretty and it's not fun again this year - just want to say that you're not right just by the sheer volume of "FIRE ______" posts made. I can promise you that Mark Murphy and the Executive Committee, aren't here reading. I'm pretty sure they don't much care what the Media's deep thinkers are saying neither. I mean, you ever see those dweebs?

A 6 game win streak would be the cat'sass if for no other reason than to make the relatively new FIRE EVERYONE crowd to sign off until things go bad again.

Go Pack! Gimmee 6.
I really and seriously doubt that everyone involved with a team, players, coaches, trainers, even the sports drink crew read one word about them or visit sites like PFT.
They probably don't have the time and they don't want the distractions of that garbage.

I have zero optimism if we get into the playoffs seeing how we have a bigger losing than winning record with them and the way the season is going.
I'd be interested to know how you can maintain any hope at all if we got there.
