I defended Rodgers when you ripped on him? Dont recall that. I have been a big AR fan, I think he is the best I ever watched. But now I see he is no longer that player.

He is absolutely still that player. The difference is he has fewer tools than ever to work with, for the time being. His #2 and #3 WRs are rookies. And I don't care how good they are, this is a ridiculously complicated offense for any rookie to be reliable in. The only vet receivers he's had to throw to for the past month are Adams, Graham (who is only average now and who is now out for at least a week or more), Lance "Wait... he's still on the team" Kendricks, and Lewis who is really a small tackle. Maybe Cobb can get back on the field and have an impact, but I haven't seen anything about him returning any time soon. What's Jeremy Maclin up to these days?

Great post this is exactly what I have been saying since Thursday Night. AR is the same guy he has always been in the sense that at times he might look for something else down the field instead of taking the short route.

That’s who this guy has always been!

I don’t know though if everything is correctable to salvage this season, but what I will say is that, if the Packers find a way to beat Minnesota on the road, I dare someone to tell me the Packers don’t have a chance to win the last five. Home games against the hapless Cardinals, the floundering Falcons, road games at Chicago who we’ve owned for years, the Jets who are a dumpster fire, and then a home game against a Detroit team who will be dead and buried by then.

The fat lady is warming up, but she hasn’t took the stage yet.

Explain to me how we should've lost those games.

Do I really need to explain the Bear game? We were down 20 points in the 3rd quarter and it took not only a Rodgers' miracle but a defensive awakening.

The 49ers game was one we were trailing by a TD late and converted a 3rd and 15 with a really questionable penalty call on Richard Sherman.

Anyway, neither of which are really my point. My point was that we often point out the ones we feel like we should have had but ignore the ones that could have easily gone against us in the other direction.

Agree with much of this but it was definitely a penalty on Sherman. ;)

I am talking 4 or 5 years ago now, not a big deal at all. And we are thinking alike as I do believe AR is off his game right now, no matter how many good looking stats he may have.
He’s absolutely off. Aaron is now able to scramble again and he was a non factor there for 8 games. One of Aarons other biggest problems though is also very fixable. His relatively new receiving core is not coming back to the ball and that inexperience has clearly been a major factor in throwaways.
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. It’s time to focus on the scramble drill and quit ignoring an obvious problem.

I mentioned this in another post, but I'll go over those two games you mentioned.

Chicago: Considering how we gift wrapped Chicago at least 2 of their scores, I don't see how you come to the conclusion. Are they better defensively? Sure, but at the same time we adjusted and held their offense to 3 points in the second half.

San Fran: I say that was more of an aberration on their part personally. Nevertheless we managed to overcome and we got the win.

Guess we saw the games differently I suppose.

That's not quite what I'm saying though. There are some who think he's not seeing his wide open outlet passes for easy first downs. I think he sees them just fine. The difference is that he is choosing not to use them in critical situations like he has in the past. I think that's a conscious decision he's making. The question is why? Is it because he's already mailed it in for this season because a part of him wants to make sure MM is not successful to ensure his ousting? Is it because he's in full-time desperation mode? Maybe it's because he thinks the big play is all that is going to keep this team afloat. I don't know the answer and I don't think anyone else outside of AR does either. Whatever it is, my gut tells me all that is needed is a change in approach and the rest of this season could be very different. That said, unless this team gets hot and gets to the Super Bowl, MM still has to go. Winning a playoff game isn't enough. Getting to the NFCC game isn't enough. Been there, done that. That is not the goal.

Could be worse. Imagine winning the Super Bowl, getting your franchise QB back and being at 4-6.

You have a point with the rookie WRs. I have seen AR upset with the patterns the kids have run. But that doesn't explain the poor passes to Adams. Working in his favor is the most dangerous run game he has ever had. That should open up the passing game.

Passing up open WRs to go deep is something I dont recall as pervasive as it has been lately.

Most dangerous run game ever, but Jones ran the ball 11 times against Seattle. Perplexing is an understatement.

You're dead on right I think. And I think the primary source of Rodgers' frustration is that he can see the running potential and I also think he recognizes that MM has no clue how to use it. This offense should be deadly with play action, but its not because everyone on the planet knows by the 4th quarter, MM will refuse to run no matter how effective it has been.

We dont know that for sure. Another possibility is that Aaron audibles out of runs. Every play has a 2nd play option, often a pass if it's a run. Rodgers has the option of changing the play depending on the defensive look. MM is good about not criticizing players publically, so we will never know.

BTW - great Username!

LOL thanks. I thought for a while about something Packer related and there's kind of a double-meaning. I'll probably keep this one. And if Gutekunst proves to be an incompetent baffoon, I can always have it changed to "DasIstNichtGute"

I was going to go with "EhrIstGute" which would make more sense, but I thought Das sounded a little better. I don't know, should I make it Ehr? What do you think AM? Now I'm starting to think Ehr is better. Hmmm...

Heard all the same talk back in 2015 around Thanksgiving too.

Not sure I understand. Right before Thanksgiving, they were 7-3, and even after the loss to the Bears on Thanksgiving, they were 7-4. Don't remember a lot of "the season is over" talk.

I keep reading lately from various writers that McCarthy is gone unless the team finishes strong and makes the playoffs. I think he should have been gone a while ago and should be gone no matter how they finish.

We do have the easiest strength of schedule of any team in the league moving forward.
And that's including the Vikings game.

After that, it gets silly easy. If McCarthy really wants his job, he needs to pull out whatever tricks and gimmicks and creativity that he might have been holding back to this point and win next Sunday in Minneapolis. If he can do that, the team will gain a ton of confidence and could roll into the playoffs with a full head of steam.

I honestly think he's gone no matter what, unless he gets the team to the Super Bowl. We saw two NFC Championship game losses in a three year period. The same result isn't going to save him this time around.

You know there are years where the top team(s) look beatable and you're like man if we could just get in we could beat the #1 team. I do NOT feel that this year. I am scared for any team who has to play the Saints. The Vikings PISSED them off... And now the entire league is dealing with the consequences.
