I only report the news of news LOL :coffee:

We have to expect TT is going to bring at least 1-2 vets in at ILB. Even using our first or second rounder on one, doesn't completely satisfy our needs there.

I politely disagree. I feel if he gets a Veteran 2nd Tier ILB, we are upgraded. Fixed, no...hence why we'll still draft one high and maybe a second low one. But I feel if we get two true pick ups whether it be through draft or FAs ILB will be much better....Barrington could still explode as well as who knows what Bradford does in year 2.

There aren´t any great ILBs available in free agency with Brandon Spikes probably being the best. Jerrell Freeman would have been an intriguing option but unfortunately the Colts put the second round tender on him.

Which is why despite wanting him too...I could see TT go after a DB in FA if Williams doesn't come back before he goes after ILBs. More options and to be honest much better options at CB than ILB in FA.

With Cromartie all but certainly signing with the Jets the best options available at CB include Rashean Mathis, Chris Culliver and Sterling Moore. I´d rather bring Tramon Williams back and draft another one after addressing NT and ILB in the draft.

I actually like the idea of Spikes on a small deal to help stop the run. He is great that one thing and our defense isn't. Also allows us to draft an ilb to groom and who can provide depth.

Um...if we want a cheap LB that can only play the run we should have resigned Hawk cheap. Just sayin/

Adding Spikes wouldn't allow the Packers to develop a rookie on the bench as neither Barrington nor Spikes are capable of covering RBs and TEs. The team would have to partner him with a three down LB like Kendricks.

I still say rate return for similar style player isn't worth it.

Spikes is one of the best run stoppers playing at ILB. Hawk wasn't even close to be as good as Spikes.

I don't feel he (Hawk) is as good, but I do feel the money he'd take you don't get equivalent value as you would for a cheap Hawk contract. I personally don't want either though. Spikes used to intrigue me but I don't feel we should.

The Packers should bring in a veteran at ILB, unfortunately Spikes is probably the best free agent available.

Would he be an upgrade yes, but he'll take more than Hawk would have and at a rate of return I wonder if worth it. I unlike most didn't feel Hawk was TERRIBLE...and I know ability wise Spikes does same thing better...if for right price he'd come I wouldn't be against I just don't think I would do it....however I trust TT way more than my opinion.

I'm convinced that no matter what the Packers do in the draft they need a veteran presence at ILB. Spikes probably is the best albeit not a perfect solution.

Spikes isn't going to be as impactful as some think if the Packers don't get a real NT. It's for that reason I'd like the packers to go after Terrance Knighton. Would have liked Dan Williams as a cheaper option but apparently paying him $2m more per year than the Packers were willing to pay Raji was just too much...

A little bitter about Dan Williams. Packers paid Raji $4m last year and he's been terrible for years. Williams has been GOOD for years but he's not worth $6 million?

Big difference between a one year $4 million dollar deal and a three year one with $15 million guaranteed.

The contracts for Williams and Raji are not close.

Why are you bitter? Because Raji made 4M last year?

If the Packers sign anyone, it probably will be after this week when they will not have to overpay.
Yeah I agree. I think Ted spends this week in the Caribbean every year. (Tic)

Yeah, you'd lock up an actual GOOD nose tackle for three years. What, you think Raji would have cost less to re-sign if he'd had a good year last year?

Mind you, I'm bitter but I'm not blaming Ted, more just blaming fate. I have no clue if Williams even gave the Packers a chance.

I could care less what Raji made last year. I'm just bitter that a good nose tackle cost another team just a little more than a bad nose tackle cost the packers last year (yes, he could have been good last year but based on performance and not hope, he's not good)

I'd be extremely happy with re-signing Raji and Guion and then adding an ILB via FA and calling it a day until the draft. That is all very doable for us. More than doable actually.

Of course, things change if Tramon signs elsewhere...it means we'll be in the market for a CB too, but I honestly see Tramon returning.
