Keenum had a great year, but he was a little like Farve. For every two games he'd win with excellence, he'd make a bone head pass to lose the game and make you say, WTF? I think the Vikes made a good move with Cousins, but the O line will need to protect him.

It’s a weird situation. The Vikings upgraded, there’s no doubt about that. But it was such a magical season last year that I don’t expect their actual production at the position to improve by much. Keenum wasn’t going to do that again, and Cousins can be relied on to be consistent year over year.

Just to get this straight, Bradford has the best year of his career in MN, then goes down in the first game last year. Keenum comes in and has the best year of his career in MN, but Cousins isn't' consistent. Have you seen Bradford and Keenums stat lines for their careers? I suggest you take a look at them and compare them to Cousins "inconsistency"

I have no idea what point you’re trying to make with this post. I lost you at “is isn’t consistent.”

Fixed it for you. Let's see the reasons why Cousins isn't going to do well.

1. Won't have the "timing" down with his WR's. Like Bradford in 2016 and Keenum last year.
2. Wont be able to put up the numbers he did in Washington. Even though he has better WR's.
3. Inconsistent. Yup. He has been about as inconstant the last three years as Rodgers has.
4. O-line protection. This one might have to legs to it. But we shall see.

I'm not sure what you are reading Raptor. I see where Dantes said Cousins was consistent not inconsistent.

His feeling and mine along with many others is that Cousins will be a more steady QB without the lows that Keenum was capable of over his career. On the other hand Keenum played so far above his career last year that even though Cousins is a better, more consistent QB, he will have a hard time putting up much better numbers than Keenum did.

I think the vikings upgraded their QB position because Cousins is a better QB than Keenum and is more likely to put up similar numbers to Keenum last season but he may not put up better numbers. I think it is far more likely that Cousins matches Keenum's numbers from last year than Keenum having that sort of year again.

Where the upgrade comes in is that the vikings are more likely to get a good year out of Cousins than they were with Keenum. A good year, that same as last year but not necessarily better.

This is the point I have been making all off season. Cousins is a much safer bet than keenum going forward, but there isn't much reason to believe Cousins will be better than keenum was last year. Keenum played out of his mind and was one of the better qbs in the NFC. Keenum was mobile in the pocket and made a lot of huge throws. Maybe cousins take another big step forward but he always screamed good not great qb. Maybe he will be great.

If I had my pick of QBs I'd pick Cousins over the other two every time. Over the long haul he'll be the better QB for the Vikings but Keenum was fantastic last year.

All right, I screwed up reading your post. I thought you said "inconsistent". I'll blame not having my morning coffee before responding to your post. :(

That makes more sense. And on the coffee front, I can’t say anything about that. I’m lucky if I know my name before my first cup.

The only blessing of Rodgers injury is that it will force McFatty to get creative with his play calling. You'll see him actually stick to the running game and actually get the Oline guys some help Rodgers will be forced to get rid of the ball quick

It’s time to open up the playbook a little and also utilize the RBs and TEs to assist more in the short passing game to counter the overaggressive pass rush. I’d like to see us send Cobb in motion one way, line up Mercedes as a bookend and then pull a Guard opposite direction of Cobbs fake and feed Monty or Jamaal the ball with a few yards of space and a blocker or 2.
Then a few plays later run a similar look except fake the throw to the RB and have the TE release off his block n roll out for a quick strike beyond 6 yards (the area where many defenders draw flags). Id like to see us get these TEs more involved all around.

Keenum threw a total of only 10 interceptions including playoffs last season, he definitely didn't lose the Vikings a lot of games.

Ian Rapoport reports that barring any setback both Rodgers and Adams are going to play vs. the Vikings today.

Say what you will about the Vikings, but their defense is good and you know they'll be hunting to get Rodgers. They need to do whatever it takes to keep him protected and Aaron needs to protect himself.

I hope the our defense has some different looks that Cousins and the OC have not seen. If we can get an interception or at least a sack or two, that sure will help.

I have no idea who will win this one. (fingers and toes crossed)

Did most packer fans go to Minnesota thinking the game was there? Can't believe how many vikings fans filled up the stadium.

Wow that roughing call was some ********. At least we walked away with a tie and not a L
Absolutely. It’s all good and well Charles Davis saying the refs will iron it out, but the season started last week and their ‘taking time to get things straight’ has cost a victory in what will be a tight division.

Sorry but no, and I'm usually the first to jump on the refs for bad stuff, but they called that same thing on Kendricks earlier, and it's the call we wanted made on Barr about Rodgers last year. So no I'm not going to argue the call.

I say both teams lucked out.

Vikings lucked out that Clay is on our team and is stupid.

We lucked out that they got a bad kicker.

Well, nobody predicted a tie.

I saw Rodgers shaking his head a lot at the end of regulation, during OT, and after the game. Seems he's lost faith in the defense and MM.
