This would be a huge, huge win for the good guys. If we get the W, I think 13-3 is a real possibility.

It's too early to make a fair evaluation of the direction the Packers defense is headed in as the unit held the Seahawks to only 10 points last season as well but struggled mightily against better offenses. Entering the season I expected the team to only lose at Atlanta before the bye week and haven't changed my mind about it based on week 1. It will be a closer game than last year's NFCCG though.
I agree. I think it will be a lot more like last year's regular season matchup between our teams.

I'm expecting a win :) I think the Falcons came out a little slow for 3 reasons against the Bears. The grass, they probably were looking ahead to this week, and new OC. I expect a much more spirited performance by their offense this week back on turf and opening a new stadium. I think our defense is much more up to the task now that everyone is healthy. it doesn't mean I think we're going to shut them out. But I am not going to be surprised when we win either.
I agree with you on all 3 reasons. I don't think your D line is as good as Chicago's and the home field turf should be an advantage for us. That being said, your offense is obviously a bigger threat than Chicago. I think something like 30-28 is what we're looking at. Somebody on either defense has to make a critical play and that will likely determine the outcome.

I really have no idea of how this game will go. This will be a great litmus test for our Defense. Atlanta is formidable in every phase Offensively..the passing game and running game, the O-Line.. I just hope Dan Quinn doesn't blame the referees like Pete Carroll if they lose :sneaky:

Right. I could make an argument that these first 2 games of the season are the Packers most critical games. If they beat us on Sunday, they own tiebreakers on BOTH Atlanta and Seattle which would be huge for them. Atlanta, Green Bay, and Seattle all have one thing in common and that's that they are far more dangerous at home and not the same team on the road. Home field advantage is pretty key for these 3 teams.
The matchup in Green Bay on Sunday, January 21st is the more important game between GB & Atl... this week is a tune-up. ;)

We have some tough road games ahead of us, the Atlanta and Dallas games early this year will go a long way in propelling us to our objective of home field advantage in the playoffs.
Starting 2-0 against 2 playoff caliber NFC teams would be huge.

IF our front 7 comes out and does puts the same pressure on ryan as they did wilson, i'd say it would be a much better match than our previous match-ups. I have a feeling this front 7 is going to be legit. just wonder what our CBs do is what concerns me the most. hopefully this time they get help from the backs.

In real life, I have this one down as a loss.

But on this board, I am an unabashed homer and damned proud of it.

Packers 38
Falcons 28

No way! The Packers will have to score 35 points to win this game. Seriously.

I don't know about that. I could actually see this game being more like a 27-24 type game. Offenses won't be clicking that well this early in the season.

It will be much tougher for the Packers' front seven to create pressure on Ryan though as the Falcons' offensive line is significantly better than Seattle's.

That I think is going to be key in this game. I also am guessing that Bulaga will play, which means that Atlanta will also probably have a hard time getting to Rodgers. If this was on a neutral field, I would pick the Packers because I think that the Packers have a somewhat better defense and I don't see a clear advantage on either side on offense--they are both powerhouses with MVP QBs. Since it's in Atlanta however, I have to give the nod to the Falcons. A victory here by the Packers would be huge.

I also think it's going to take 4-5 weeks till these offenses get going like they have the potential for. It takes reps, it takes game speed, and it takes some coaching in between before they hit their stride.

Well here's to hoping it takes the Falcons at least one week longer than it takes the Packers lol.

cap, this time i'm going to disagree with you. our front 7 will give ryan a hard time. I think our backs are fired up, and will sneak through that line without any problems. This is going to be a scary front 7, cap. hopefully helps out our secondary. this game will prove that our d is legit and will put any doubt to rest. the way we attacked the seattle's O line wasn't ok they demolished them. I doubt that our past front 7 would have played that well, despite it was our first game.

As always, Ryan will give the defense opportunities for turnovers. But unlike the NFCCG where we dropped interceptions that could have changed the game, the defense will need to capitalize on those opportunities in this game.

if we compare our d the first game of 2016 against jags and our first game against seattle this year there were big improvements. that D made jags look like SB contenders.
