The Bears are good, but losing Fangio is a big deal for them. Their defense won't be as good.

I'm still not sure we win, but it should be a good game. Trubisky is still a mediocre QB propped up by good coaching.

I was talking to a Bears fan yesterday and he said the defense is going with a new philosophy. Fangio was more of a coverage type guy and Pagano is more of a pressure guy. Don't know how true it is but maybe signing Ha Ha had something to do with not focusing so much on coverage.

I live in Chicago so I hear nothing about how great the Bears are. Which to be fair, I am sure if you live in the town of any team that's typically what you get. But if I was a Bears fan, I would be cautious about their defense. I think they may be the Jaguars of 2019. The defense is great, but if Mitch doesn't take that next step forward and the defense is constantly on the field, getting exhausted. I think it can be a long season for the Bears.

You see it a lot with QBs that have that running ability, but not the greatest arm, the 2nd year you're not a surprise anymore. Defenses are more readily prepared for you. I think it is a lot of gameplanning in Nagy rather than Mitch. If Nagy gets too cute at times, that will be another downfall of the Bears.

But...at the end of the day, the Packers need to show up and match the intensity that you know the Bears are going to bring after a disappointing end of last year, huge expectations and a crowd that is going to be going wild from the start. It will be a huge hurdle for a brand new offense and defense to go in there. Nothing I'd love more to quiet the Bear fans for a minute the first game of the year.

For those worried about a first year offense with MLF, the Rams with Goff in 2016 went 4-12 and Goff had 5 tds and 7 ints. The next year McVay was hired, MLF was OC although he didn’t call plays. Rams went 11-5 and Goff goes for 28 tds and 7 ints. I think our offense will be ok. And there are several other really good qbs that did not take a snap in preseason, and most starting qbs took less than 30 snaps. Relax and let it play out. Enjoy the ride.

In view of the fact that I haven't seen starters except at a camp visit, the only statement I'm going to make at this time is this:

The StadiumView Bar and restaurant made some MAJOR renovations. MAJOR! Place is really nice and the expanded menu is really good.

Go Pack!

Rodgers' back is reportedly still sore. Hopefully it won't affect him much, or will heal up by Thursday.
Not a single preseason snap, and his health is already in question. It's discouraging. I'm wondering if we will ever see him healthy for long stretches again. I sure hope so.

Stranger! Welcome back!

I think we're going to surprise a lot of people in the opening game this year and win convincingly. Having said that, you may see a QUARTER, where the Packers may struggle to gel, but as the game progresses I imagine that The Packers managed to get things going as well as the defense keeping Trubisky at bay, long enough for it to get out of hand and forcing him to throw.

I think signing HaHa is an indication that they are NOT interested in covering anybody

If I'm being completely honest, just a quarter to gel, figure it out, etc, is very optimistic. I'd honestly expect more like 4-5 games.

Hopefully I'm wrong though!

That may be, but Fangio is probably the best, at minimum top 3, defensive coach in the league. Shanahan, McVay, and LaFleur all said he's the hardest to coach against. I don't think Pagano is bad, but he's not Fangio by any means. I think they take a step back defensively.

If it was against an explosive offense like The Chiefs then you would have me. But the fact that it's Chicago and the fact that they typically try to favor winning low scoring games, makes me optimistic. They don't want this to become a shootout as it doesn't play into their hands.

Here's a few "IF's" by me about this game in Chicago on National TV.

I would be surprised with a new coaching staff the Packers will pull out a win.

I'll be watching really close if our coaching staff can make adjustments during
the game or games down the road, something we didn't see with Mike H.

Sometimes a losing a big game like this can bring out a lot of good in a young team and their coaches.

You know what... I have literally no idea what to expect from this game. I think I expect to lose, because as a Packers fan who remembers QBs before Favre I still have this deep pessimistic facet to my fandom, but I also know that Rodgers can Rodgers and we have Rodgers so who knows when exactly Rodgers may just go all Rodgers. I wish we had a more complete team, though. Still, probably our best overall roster since 2010, even if Gary ends up being a wasted pick.

1) so most of the Packers on the list are "Full participant." Why didn't they go ahead and list the other 35 team members?
2) Rodgers is not on the list.
3) We knew there were several guys on the 53 coming out of camp that will not play for several weeks because of injuries.
4) It's the Bears. Not like Rodgers needs much help. He just needs to remain healthy.

According to their career performance, Fangio is more of a great defense guy and Pagano is more of a mediocre defense guy.

My feeling on this game is that a win is going to have to come via a strong defensive performance. I fully expect a slow and rocky start for the new offense. The season will, in my opinion, stand or fall according to how long it takes for the offense to click and how much of the slack can be picked up by the defense in the mean time.

Hold the Bears to 20 or fewer points and come away with a win at Soldier Field. Allow more than that, and I'm guessing we open the season at 0-1.

Let this be known that should we win, every person that predicted The Packers to lose will be on my dud list. Feel free to put me on your mega dud if I'm wrong. XD

According to everyone Cobb was washed up and we were better off without him.
Cobb would have been fine for the right price. He was a Bear killer, but he was an expensive one that past couple seasons being unable to stay healthy. He's not washed up, he just can't stay healthy. When he was, he was good. If I felt confident he'd stay healthy, i'd have made more noise about them needing to keep him. But recent history wasn't on his side in that way. If he stays healthy for the Cowboys, he'll have a good year, i'm confident in that.

He just always seemed to be a part of putting a knife right thru the Bears since he joined the team.

Hub Arkush & other CHI media are way over-the-top in their collective belief about Clinton-Dix being a huge upgrade over Amos, and the always cheap McCaskey's saving all that money (as if that is anything new).

But, on the field it won't be Ha-Ha vs. Amos...

It will be Rodgers vs. Ha-Ha.

Can't wait!

Do ya think Hub and his friends might be in for a big let down?
