I guess as a fan of another team when I put forth my points on the "Studs and Duds" thread I should refrain from the Duds part. Because apparently that's "trashing" the Packers.
Your initial post started with the word "Dud" with no mention of any studs. This from a known Viking Fan after a game where the Packer's offense dominated the game. Again... most of us know that the defense is not good, but combined with a very good offense.. it has been good enough to win the last 5 games. As you pointed out, the thread is studs and duds. Your post came through as a very condescending way to conveniently ignore any mention of the studs.

The long TD was awful. Terrible job on that play by Rollins and Haha.

Overall though, I don't think it was terrible.

The Vikings only had 13 points while the game still mattered.
That catch was due to another break down by the D backs. When they collided, it looked as if they were supposed to let Thelin (spell?) score. Imagine if that collision would have injured Clinton Dix! That type of boneheaded play needs to stop.

Unthinkable??????? Certainly I'm not the only person here who had it cross their mind when the Vikings were 5-0 and were the toast of the NFL , that this is very potentially an 8-8 team at the end of December. I mean, they are the Vikings, this is what they do.

Come on, admit it. You were thinking the same thing, right???
Sorry to disappoint you on that one, but not really. I was thinking early in the season that yesterday's game would probably determine the NFC North. It was Detroit that seemed destined for another 8-8 season, especially after the Packers had defeated them. After all, the Packers had already lost to the Vikings prior to that and Bradford looked pretty good. Plus, the Vikes were the defending NFC North champs.

While I never expected them to go undefeated, I didn't expect the collapse. Nor did I expect, the Offensive line to be decimated by injuries. I really thought yesterdays game would be for the Division. And next weeks for a wild card for who ever lost yesterdays game.

Now you're thinking like a Packers fan. Have a drink if you need it.

Said earlier in the season the Vikings would come back to earth if the turnover differential change and if they stopped getting return tds. Both changed. The defense quite getting turnovers outside a couple games and as a result the Vikings fell apart. After 5 games they had a completely unsustainable plus 14 or 15 and sense then they are minus 7. Look at the record switch. From 5-0 to 2-8. I told people the Packers could play with the vikings because the first game the Packers turned it over a ton and that wouldn't happen again. The number switched this time and it was a blowout.

Well then, you called it correctly.

Dud. Packers Defense. Other than the one forced fumble. 475 yards from an offense with a makeshift line.

Last two weeks.

924 yards
52 points

Against a 2nd string QB and a team with a makeshift O-line playing 3rd stringers.

If they play like this in the playoffs, they will be one and done.

To be honest with you some might consider this post as "bashing". It's entirely Packer negative. I'm curious why a fan of another team is so interested in the Packers ? Do you go on other teams boards also ?

See, it's only bashing if I'm the fan of another team. If I was a Packer fan it's just a different opinion. As to my interest in the Packers, I grew up in Appleton surrounded by Packer fans. Matter of fact it's Packer fans that made me Vikings fan. And yes, I belong to a Rams board, a Bears board, have been on a Niners and a Seahawks. Currently I am on 3 Packer boards, 3 Vikings, 1 Bear and 1 Ram. I find that fans of other teams sometime have a better understanding of my team. So I try to keep an open mind on what they have to say.

I don't think it's bashing as I agree that the Packers Def needs to be better to have a playoff run. Pointing out easy to find statistics, even by the fans of another team, are part of the reason for this board.

who hasn't seen issues with the Packers D this year? Anybody, anybody? Thanks for the news flash.

Just like if MN doesn't win turnover battle and have superb special teams play they usually don't win, the packers rely on their offense to carry the load and hope the defense can do just enough. Every team has a strength and weakness.

Our defense does need to play better than they did during that abysmal stretch. And if they play just a bit better and our offense plays like they can, there isn't a team that should feel safe. There are a lot of "ifs". Just like there are for every team this year.

There's absolutely no doubt in my mind the secondary has to perform on a higher level for the Packers to have a chance against elite quarterbacks in the playoffs. Whe the defense only allowed 13 points while it mattered that was because of decent play in the red zone and an inferior opponent.

I don't know why its so hard to figure out that when teams are up by a ton of points they go into prevent or at least change their defensive game plan and giving up lots of yards and even points is acceptable to them as long as it takes time off the clock. Its not like they gave up those plays all game long. You have to look at how they played when the game was still a game. The goal is to win the game and the final stats are irrelevant when you dominated like the Packers did.

If the Packers are up by 30 points and they give up 150 yards and 14 points in the 4th quarter I really don't care, this is not the defense that played the rest of the game and it most likely not the defense that would have played had the score been closer and its not the defense we can expect to see next week.

The Packers defense allowed Adam Thielen to set a career high in receiving yards at 142 within the first 23 minutes of the game.

Didn't Gunter get hurt in the 2nd Q?

True, Gunter suffered an elbow injury in the second quarter and as far as I know didn't return to the field afterwards.

How many points did the Packers give up in fourth quarters this year, a BUNCH, whether close game or not.. The defense just does not seem to have a killer instinct when ahead.

The Packers have given up a total of 112 points in the fourth quarter this season which is more than only six other teams in the league.
