Was he definately arrested ? I would imagine he was first warned he had committed a criminal offence but persisted being a **** by arguing back. In my experience 99% of the time the passenger will apologise profusely for being such an idiot and that is enough. I dont know if the officer reacted because of lack of experience but for him to have been arrested, he either continued saying it or they were making an example.

The story I read said he was arrested, misdemeanor of making a bomb threat. NOt even sure where that rates on the scale of giving punishments is involved, but that's what the story said. It's also hard to say what exactly happened, it's only one side giving a story that I saw and it was the side you'd expect to see slanted against Davis. When I read it, it didn't seem too bad. Silly, not probably the best comeback, but hardly criminal. Sarcastic, but not criminal. I'd have a different opinion if he did something like stand up in the middle of a boarded plane and proclaim to everyone that he was the bomb or something. But that's not what appeared to have happened.

Well it will almost lead to some type of suspension and while it wont be a long one it leaves a weak receiving core even weaker.

I highly doubt Davis will get suspended because of it.

I wonder what would’ve happened if a more recognizable athlete made the same (granted, stupid) joke. My guess is Brady or OBJ asks their girlfriend about packing explosives and no one’s in custody.

Brady definitely wouldn't say something stupid like that though.

I know I’m just saying from a all round stand point it would be nice to have someone else really step up in returns maybe someone other than a receiver perhaps cuz him as a wide receiver has done next to nothing

I wouldn't mind the Packers releasing Davis if the team is able to find a returner capable of adequately replacing him.

Cut him. He isn't what TT thought he would be. He isn't a deep threat or a punt returner we thought he'd be thus far. Yancey needs a shot at showing what he can do anyway. Draft Braxton Berrios late for an extra punt returner and route specialist from the slot.

No sense cutting him now. He has no roster or workout bonuses, so bring him to camp and let him earn a job. His dead cap hit for the next 2 years is "only" $170K, so an easy guy to part with if he can't win a roster spot.

He actually shows signs of being a very good punt returner, he just needs to improve on his actual decision making skills.

You'd think someone who practices his catching skills all day would be a little quicker to catch a slip of the tongue! I would've loved to seen everyone's face! What was his girlfriend reaction!?

This is typical airlines blowing things way out of proportion.
OK I get it folks, pull him aside and warn him how serious of a nature this is.. do a full search (like the airline did to me unwarranted a few months ago! Jerks!) and even drag it out to make him sweat. Maybe do a quick background check even if he misses his flight. But arrest him and possible ruin his career for being stupid?? Do we suddenly have a shortage of criminals that we have to ruin an innocent man's career over this?! If this was my family I'd be very concerned this was overkill. OOOPS! Please PLEASE don't arrest me I'm just joking!!

Or just make him do 40 hrs on this forum, answering questions. I guarantee you, he will never F*ck up again. :coffee:
lol. And take away the "Disagree" button just in case he loses his cool. It's the closest thing to another sudden outburst and we shouldn't promote that in the healing process

Davis has actually done a pretty good job returning punts. He has to make better decisions on when to fair catch the ball though.

While you are very much entitled to your opinion here, you don't know the workings of aviation security obviously. I'm sorry you had a bad experience with the TSA yourself but they do a hard enough job as it is without some ******* making stupid remarks and thinking they are above rules and regulations because they are a professional sportsman. He may think he's a big shot footballer but that doesn't give him the right to act like a ****, especially as it seems his girlfriend warned him to "wind his neck in" and shut up. He sounds like one of those typical people who look down thier nose at people in lesser paid jobs.

Davis is the team's best returner though and will most likely make the team solely based on his contributions on special teams.

There are lots of guys in the draft who can be better returners as well as wrs than Davis. Christian Kirk is one, dj Chark is another and the one I like most because he's gonna represent excellent value is Antonio Callaway. Also there are good corners who can double as returners, Mike hughes and Darius Phillips come to mind

There's no doubt the Packers could draft a returner capable of taking over for Davis. It should actually happen before the team thinks about releasing him though.

you must have found a far different report than I've seen. This seems to be the gist of what i've read
According to USA TODAY Sports, an attendant asked Davis normal security questions about his luggage and Davis allegedly joked about having a bomb in his bag. Davis turned to his companion and said something along the lines of, “Yeah, did you pack the explosives?”
She said no and attempted to keep Davis from going on, USA TODAY Sports reported. He replied that he was just kidding, but police were called and Davis was arrested.

Had he actually packed some, or a gun and then acted like Jerruh Jones and played it off like he was some very important man, Maybe i'd be more inclined to agree with you. So far, at it looks like is a guy that made a sarcastic joke. People, TSA agents included should be able to handle that without police involvements and arrests.

At what point are people going to realize what ZERO TOLERANCE means?

If I got this wrong I apologise and I cant speak for the TSA officer here but, if Davis was warned he had committed an offence (which it actually is, even in jest ) and continued in the same way, arrest was inevitable. IF he tried to back down then 1. The officer was inexperienced and hadn't had experience of the situation, (26 years in my case ), or was trying to make a name for themselves. In our situation I've usually found a friendly warning and then a less than friendly warning does the trick.....Your laws may be different but highly unlikely.

I know what zero tolerance means, and I think it makes everything worse. Nobody knows how to deal with anything. Nobody knows how to read people, nobody has to deal with uncomfortable situations. Employers can't hire good employees unless a test tells them to and a credit check. people can't handle every day interactions, it get's worse. It was the point I made in probably my 1st or 2nd post. Buggy has it right. If he continued with acting like, hey, quit hassling me, i'm the man type stuff. Arrest was inevitable. If it was, hey man, i was only joking. People "should" be able to recognize a serious situation and one that isn't. Even when it comes to flying on airplanes. A warning, talking to about the seriousness, check his bags extra long, whatever, but everyone knows this wasn't a criminal act. Had he been talking to his girlfriend on the plane after a game late last season and said, "he just threw me a bomb and I flat out didn't see it" would an arrest be warranted there too? zero tolerance and all?

There is a time to speak in jest, and a time to curb your tongue, especially when the person you are dealing with has the power to throw your *** in jail. Zero tolerance is to take the judgement out of the situation. What I see as light hearted banter, you may see as a coded threat. FWIW I don't agree with zero tolerance either, especially where children are involved. That's as far as I'll go without taking this to the asylum.

to bring it back to football, it's like the zero tolerance they were creeping towards with PI a few years ago. They were calling it pretty close to the letter and tiny incidental contact was being called for huge plays and momentum shifts in games. I think it affected the game, and not for the better. Very thankful they seemed to have backed off a bit the past 2 seasons or so and call the game with a little more on the field judgement. and I understand planes are not football fields, but people are people and at no point would I ever consider a ticket agent asking that question a legitimate line of security. Unless of course she was trained in psych evals, in which case she/he needs more training if they really thought Davis was serious. At least according to the reports i've read.

He sucks he won’t make the team this year if rookies step up

I can only hope. He's the second biggest cancer to our team next to Brett Hundley and if he is as Capt said the best returner we got, then Gute had better start stockpiling this team with WRs who can actually make returns because he's literally worse than Jeremy Ross was in 2013.

Davis was actually 3rd in the NFL for average yds/return on punts and tied for 7th on kickoff returns in 2017. So he actually is a decent return guy. However, as I have said and a few others, his decision making on fair catches has to get better.

I think he'll end up with a fine, nothing more. I can't say about your case, I'm just sorry he wasn't doing his job properly.

Davis is definitely a better returner than Ross, especially as he's able to hold on to the ball.

Did he act like a ****? did he think he was above the rules and regulations? I have not seen anything of that sort. Everything I read says the girlfriend went along with it. Nothing I read shows in any way that he was being anything but cooperative. I'm guessing even the most innocent of transgressions would take an hour to figure out and it it were anything more Resistance , acting like a **** etc.) than that it would have taken longer. If you could provide a link to reports of the contrary I would appreciate it. I've run about half a dozen google searches on various keywords and I come up with nothing newer than 3 days old with the same information. He made the comment, she said yes, he was detained for about and hour, booked and released on bail and he has a court appearance ion May.

I'm sure being a TSA agent is no dream job and most of them are trying their best to make a bad situation better. I also agree that the comment did not help matters and was certainly better left unsaid. I'm sure your opinions differ because of your occupation and I respect that but I think waty to much is being made of this. I would expect and certainly hope that all charges will be dropped and TD has learned his lesson.

EDIT : Sorry BB I replied before I read all the posts including your response.

I think we all have said something out loud, that we didn't take the time to think about before it left our lips and we later regretted. This just sounds like a case of someone not thinking before they spoke and due to the environment in which it happened, the consequences more severe than just awkward embarrassment.

Nothing I have read points to Davis being a jerk about the situation after it occured. He cooperated with the agents and I would guess that whatever consequences he faces after his court appearance, they won't even rival the lessons this 24 year old has already learned.
