LOL...I have to laugh, somehow I was surfing an article by an Atlanta writer concerning the Falcons remaining free agent options. Not to pick on Jeff Janis, but this goes to show you just how poor some writers information really is:

Jeff Janis (Green Bay Packers)

At one time a dangerous receiving threat who helped the Packers win a playoff game, Janis has fallen off a bit since his surprising 2015 campaign. But, he’d give the offense a reliable depth receiver, and someone with proven returning abilities, likely on the cheap.

Only thing this writer seemed to get correct is the last part, "likely cheap". Not even a mention of his #1 skill, gunner.

after seeing Jones run around lost everywhere besides at the LOS, i'm not sure I'd say he was better than anybody. He made a couple nice blitzing type plays, but in the role of a safety doing anything besides attacking behind the LOS? he was lost and it was obvious. He has athleticism, and i'm hoping he gets it a bit more his second year and with a different DC, but it was ugly back there last year. He wasn't ready for it at all.

tick tock tick tock....are we going to see the Packers sign a FA CB or are they really expecting the current group + a rookie or 2 to be adequate?

The list of FA CB's even worth considering is getting shorter and shorter:
  • E.J. Gaines
  • Rashaan Melvin
  • Darqueze Dennard
  • Ross Cockrell
  • DRC
  • Delvin Breaux
  • Tramon Williams
  • Davon House
  • Byron Maxwell
Guessing by the time I post this, at least one on this list will be off the market. Tick Tock Gute, what say thee?

My guess is that they will see how things go with Melvin and then turn to the trade market if they miss out again. I have absolutely nothing to back that up. But this regime’s obvious willingness to make moves wouldn’t seem to jive with just leaving corner unaddressed. We shall see.

Doesn't feel much different than last year, when all we saw was Davon House brought in through Free Agency. I'm just trying to wrap my head around the fact that the CB position has been the biggest weakness for the Packers for far too long and yet, all they keep doing is throwing draft picks at it and whiffing. The jury is out on King still, but that shoulder issue can't allow for complete confidence in him. Just like last year, all I can fall back on is the idea that the Packers thing they currently have players on the team that can play the position adequately. :cautious:

Frustrating times for Packer fans.

Okafor staying with the Saints on a 2 yr deal.

Should GB consider signing Eric Reid? He could theoretically replace what Morgan Burnett brought to the table. He's younger and potentially cheaper considering the perceptions surrounding him. Strictly (please try) talking football, what are your thoughts?

https://packerswire.usatoday.com/20...s-free-agent-eric-reid-a-fun-fit-for-packers/

Political questions aside, I would be in favor of signing a guy like Reid, at the right price. He is young, graded out better than Burnett and is predicted to play for less but that still won't be cheap, Spotrac is saying $8.6M

But some of us can put personal political decisions aside and others can't, so not sure how the Packers feel about it.

Obviously, the big question for the Packers, do they have that big of a need at S? I think their bigger need is at CB, so even if Reid was a bargain, they just don't have the funds to warrant it.

What does everyone think about EJ Gaines? The kid has pro bowl potential, used to playing in the cold...I know injuries are a concern, but at the right price a 26 year old CB would absolutely boost the defense.

I would have to guess that the Packers are looking at all these mid level FA CB's and either guys like Gaines are seeking too much or just aren't interested in signing with the Packers or the Packers aren't interested in them.

I feel like the Packers are sitting inside of a bakery, wondering if they should buy the day old bread or just wait a few more days, until they can get it out of the dumpster.

Political??? I wouldn't define my dislike for his actions as political. I would phrase the question like this, would seeing him kneeling for the national anthem in a Packer uniform be worth what we would get from him on the field as opposed to MB? For me it's a huge no.

How are Vikes able to make so many big additions? They got a lot of rookie deals? They gotta be the NFC favorites this year.

The Vikings have done a really good job in the draft for the last 3 or so years as well as managing their cap. If you look at their team cap numbers, you will find out why they can do what they are doing with Cousins and a guy like Richardson.

I like him over Melvin and his hamstring. I thought the Texans were in ******* him though and he would be signed by now.

It'll only last another couple of years.

But yes, they're done a phenomenal job. Have a great coach in Zimmer.

I'm going to slow my roll on Reid. He is already chirping about how he is not going to be cheap and that if you think he will be then you are part of the systematic oppression he is fighting.

Kind of funny that there was so much activity in the 2 days of 'legal tampering', and next to nothing so far 3 days into actual free agency.

Most of the big fish have left the pond, time for the bottom feeders to pick over the scraps.
