I can kinda see why we played starters. We had a chance to nab the #6 seed ( of course once Washington won it didn't matter). I think Love will be okay. Who among us is surprised about Watson getting hurt yet again? Not having Doubs may have been a reason why Watson played. It is glaringly evident we need a true #1 WR who can consistently get open and keep opposing DCs up at night.
Yeah, I can't be that bothered by it.
You're still going to have a hard time convincing me that going to LA or Washington wouldn't have been preferable to going to Philly.
More than that though, finishing as the #7 seed guarantees that if we do manage beat Philly, we're now locked into traveling to Detroit in the next round. Hypothetically, if we got the #6 seed and the Commanders got the #7 seed* and they managed to beat Philly (as they just did recently), then Washington would travel to Detroit and we would instead play Minnesota/LA/Tampa/etc (however it shakes out). In other words: finishing as the #7 seed guarantees we will need to face the top two seeds. Finishing as the #6 seed allows for the (slim) possibility of avoiding both top seeds.
And I know people will (mistakenly) claim that "you have to beat the best to be the best" or other cliches, but it's awfully tough for me to make a case that getting locked in to facing the top 2 seeds doesn't put you at a distinct disadvantage compared to possibly avoiding them.
*Now obviously with a Washington win this possibility was removed. But this wasn't determined at the time of our matchup and we couldn't have accounted for it in our game preparation one way or another.
With regards to injuries, it sure looks like Love just had a funny bone or something and should be totally fine - he was warming up seemingly preparing to go back in when it looked for a minute there like Willis was hurt. ( And if we really believed this was a meaningless game and thought Love wasn't 100% good to go and were STILL having him possibly warm up to get back in the game, then our management is utterly incompetent and should be shown the door ).
And Watson, let's be real...God bless the guy but he was probably just as likely to get injured by a strong breeze on the tarmac upon arriving in Philly as he was getting hurt by suiting up today. I don't know if there's any degree of "load management" that can prevent him from picking up random knocks at this point.
