I agree Smith was just in a bad spot as far as numbers. Numbers of dollars he is and was going to make as well as number of good linebackers on Dallas. I am pretty sure I read that he was just recently voted as a team captain. Add in what he had to go thru to get back to being able to play at NFL caliber after injury he is definitely not a negative to chemistry, just the opposite IMO.

If you believe this report, Gilmore wants to play for the Packers.

"With a trio of Alexander, Gilmore, and rookie Eric Stokes, the Packers would have one of the league’s best cornerback rooms."

Being an ND fan and thirty minutes from ND, all my connections to the school and folks pointed towards him being anything but negative for locker rooms and the chemistry of a team.

I thought I had remembered you being a fan of his, but I only remember correctly sometimes, so I had to get clarification LOL

I was a massive fan but even I knew I'd not risk anything till the third on him and that was gonna be risky with his massive injury in college. He has healed and I think will be a solid LB in the league for another four to five years easily.

Sounds like the Gilmore deal isn't happening for the Packers. Not that they didn't want him, but they couldn't make it work, at least not yet, with the Cap.

Gilmore traded to the Carolina Panthers for a sixth-round pick in the 2023 draft.

Great to get Jaylon Smith would of been amazing to get him and Gilmore and it could have been done....and was apparently being "explored" by the Packers for "some time" but they decide not to take on the cap charge

Gilmore would of been an all in move but they did sign rasul douglas...so that's bertr than nothing with Alexander likely not gonna be back for awhile or at least not playing at 100%

Kinda makes you wish they hadn't wasted that cap space this year and next on resigning Kevin King...oh wait everybody wished that at the time as well
