Interesting how perception and reality are often at odds. Under DC Jim Haslett and with a lot of new personnel, the Rams defense is actually middle of the pack in the NFC -- a huge upgrade from last year. 2006 Rams defense is 8th in NFC, better than Philly, Carolina and the Giants in terms total yards against, and leads the league in takeaways with 13.
The 2004 version of the "lamest show" -- with most of the components still intact today-- put up 448 passing yards against a Green Bay defense that was better than the current version.
Still, and despite their success against Detroit last week, the Rams have trouble scoring in the red zone.
Not sure what all of this talk about a high-scoring shootout is based on.
Based on all of the above and a lot of other factors -- the line in this game -- Rams by 5 was the latest I saw, is about right.
