i think people are reading way too far into things once again concerning Aaron Rodgers. I doubt they flew out there 3 times to "beg" him to come back. They're probably doing the "paying extra attention to the star QB" treatment and meeting in person about a contract thing. They'll probably do it again as deadlines approach and each side decides to dig in, call a bluff, or compromise.

I realize that there are different factors involved here, but the longer this plays out, the more it feels like the Favre situation to me. You have 2 pretty stubborn sides, not wanting to flinch, until they have to. Back in 2008 Social Media wasn't as popular and most of us weren't getting alerts every time there was a new "breaking rumor" about the Favre situation. 13 years later, the Rodgers situation is hard to avoid if you are plugged in. Every day there is "new evidence/information/rumor, etc" of some sort, creating more angst and tension on both sides. Just watching this board is like riding a roller coaster, I can't imagine how much Scotch Rodgers has had to consume just to R-E-L-A-X and how many times Gute has had to remind himself that there are a million other decisions he needs to make. I am pretty sure of one thing, there aren't a lot of tears being shed over this outside of the Packer organization and fan base. The Viking and Bears fan base must feel like Christmas has arrived early.

How is it a bigger stretch when I literally just told you the Packers were lacking playmakers in the second half after Jones left? I mean, it's a MASSIVE stretch to think that an inactive QB was as helpful as Tee Higgins or Pittman would have been.
Or maybe drafting Love was a bigger boost to the team than any skill position player.

Rodgers had 4 years of declining play. He was missing throws, not passing to open players, and generally not playing as well as he had. Suddenly his level of play snapped back last season back nearly to his apex. His rating went not only back over 100, but to his 2nd highest ever. What changed? New weapons? No. MLF offense? Maybe he was more comfortable in his 2nd season, but his poor play wasn't familiarity. It was bad throws. Not seeing the field.

I think his better play was because he was going to be replaced and he focused more on his level of play.

Maybe the 'slap in the face' of drafting his replacement woke him up.

At this point if reports are true want is the stubborn side of the front office? Not trading love?

Reports are they offered Rodgers and extension making him the highest paid qb. Gute at least publicly acknowledged he should have communicated better with Rodgers about the Love pick.

Rodgers has always been that guy that played well with that external chip on his shoulder. The chip’s name this time may have been Jordan Love. He came to camp last August and said he had worked on correcting his throwing mechanics and seemed very happy and motivated to play well right out of the gate. Does this happen if Love isn’t drafted? We’ll never know.

You are right, I don't think we fully know yet to what extent each "side" has been stubborn or accommodating to the other. Nor do we really know what they are doing/saying. I was merely pointing out that both sides seem to have their heels dug in and when that happens in a disagreement, it usually means both sides aren't willing to give enough ground to come to an amicable solution. We only know a few things for sure that have seemingly lead to this "standoff". I do think its safe to say, neither side has fully agreed enough with the other side to figure it out. Are they close or miles apart?

I agree that we have no real idea what is really going on. I am mainly just going off the more general reports that the Packers have offered Rodgers a big extension. I guess that may not have happened but it seems like it has been reported a lot. If they did offered a long extension it does not seem that their heels are that dug in. If they have not done that then yes they have dug in.

Well maybe the extension didn't have the guarantees that Rodgers wanted or it wasn't more than a one year extension or......... The Packers are probably going to only spin out information that makes them look good. Meanwhile, Rodgers might be trying to do the same. Somewhere in the middle probably lies the truth and if Gute and Aaron have a phone conversation, unless its recorded, we will never know, nor do we really need to know, what was said. Meanwhile the other 10 million people talking about this have little or no skin in the game, so they are going to spin it as they see fit. Adam Shefter didn't break his story on draft day because it was breaking news or to try and help, he broke it for what it gave him....lots of attention and notoriety.

All of this makes sense. We don't know what is really happening.

Right and we may never have the full story. At some point a decision will be made and probably both sides are going to be as professional as possible about it and give us their best PC spin on what both sides privately agreed to, as to what the public should hear. I don't think either side wants blood from the other side, well not yet anyway. :)

Disrespectful to who Bro? I guarantee you that I am one of the biggest Packer fans around. If you can't see that Rodgers is going down the same path as Favre, you are either blind or ignorant. When is the last time you saw Rodgers actually act like he wanted to play football with a great attitude? He looks miserable. He acts miserable. If he is as smart as everyone says he is, then I have to believe that he is setting the Packers up for the big kiss-off. Now he has the country hick in his ear. Rodgers is dangerous to the franchise because he thinks that he so much smarter than everyone else. Everything about him bothers me right now. If it's just me, so be it. Ashamed of myself? Don't be silly. The day that I feel sorry for ANY athlete is the day that I will be ashamed of myself. Have a good day Bro.
I wrote this almost exactly 1 year ago. Sound familiar? It just felt like this is where it was headed.

I think a reunion with his old coach in Dallas would be fitting.

That isn't happening with what they just paid Dak. IF money and cap weren't involved, I think the most "ironic" place to trade him would be Tampa Bay. Let him compete with Brady for the starting job and possibly have to carry the clipboard until Tom decides to hang them up.

I am sure there are a number of Team Rodgers wants to go to and a number of teams that the Packers would never trade him too, as well as a number of teams that have no interest in him. If a trade is made, only a few teams might fall through all those things. Whatever team it would be, I am sure that a new contract would have to be worked out, one that Rodgers agrees to.

How about Rodgers to Seattle for Russell and 2 first rounders? That might be giving up on Love, but I would love to see RW run MLF's offense.

This may have been said before and I missed and I'm sorry if I did but it needs to be clear to those who think the Packers should have taken the 49ers "offer". There never was an offer. Lynch, the 49ers GM and person who would have made any offer never talked to Gute, the Packers GM who would have either accepted or turned down any offer. There was contact however. Kyle Shanahan, the coach of the 49ers contacted Matt LeFleur, the coach of the Packers and presumably a very good friend to simply inquire if it would be worth it for Lynch to contact Gute. LeFluer told him it would be a waste of time so it never happened.

So in essence the "offer" that Paul Allen tried to use to stir the pot never happened. I had said in a couple of posts that Lynch said he contacted Gute and Gute said he didn't so one of them was lying. I was wrong about that. Apparently I either misread or misinterpreted what Lynch said about the contact and assumed it was he who in fact made the contact.

It probably doesn't matter anymore at this point but I just wanted to set the record straight and make it clear that the 49ers never made an offer to the Packers.

Which is I been getting so mad at the media lately because they now been guilty of multiple rounds of BS on this.

Man, I say the government should pass a law allowing NFL teams to be automatically paid $50 million for every single piece of untrue information put in sports media articles or on television. Force them to pay $50 million fines and they will quiet down on propaganda talk out of fear of going bankrupt.

Why do people keep making this stuff up about Rodgers being on a steady decline for 4 years straight?

And actually he did kinda get new weapons. Dumped useless Graham and gave him Tonyan who's on par with Travis Kelce, and while MVS and Lazard had been here a year before, watch and dissect game film on both of them from 2019 to 2020 and you'll find a huge difference in route running.

According to John Kuhn just a few days ago, which I put much more credence than a typical reporter, Aaron said he both wanted to play into his 40’s and he liked playing for the Packers. He was just confounded in what was going on.

The more I hear from those in Aaron’s circle, the more I’m hearing a player #12 who lashed out not because he didn’t want to finish his career here, but because he did want to retire a Packer and he doesn’t have control over that and he’s irritated that he can’t get confirmation either way.

Those sentiments align with post NFC game interviews and statements I’ve watched. At which time Aaron was clearly hurt as he looked like he lost a friend. I respect that and his emotions spoke to me that he loves this team.

I think this has more to do with GB wanting to move on than Rodgers wanting to move on.

Agreed, while I'm not sure if Kuhn or James Jones have talked with Rodgers about this directly, they certainly know him better than we do, and also have their own experience working with GMs and contracts and all that. Something tells me if Rodgers was actually dead set on getting out of Green Bay, they would find out.

Who ever claimed that Love was helpful? You are insisting that some phantom player that they didn't draft would have been. That my friend is a stretch.

Insisting a player who would have been active at a position of need would have been more helpful than an inactive player isn't what I would call a stretch, it's more, uhm, reality?

Kuhn said he spoke to Rodgers in last week.

So I trust him over anyone

Am I reading this correctly? You want THE GOVERNMENT to tell others that they can't lie?

Did you bother to read past the first sentence?. He said that it is possible that the drafting of Love lit a fire under Rodgers and helped propel him to his MVP performance. He didn't say he was a big boost he said maybe.

There is no way you can refute this as there is no possible way of knowing how anyone on the team would have performed had they not drafted Love. There is also no possible way of knowing how the drafting of any other player would have affected the play of Aaron Rodgers or anyone else.

Maybe drafting a WR would have helped or maybe not. It's possible that a WR would have won us the SB but its also possible that same WR would have kept us out of the NFCC game due to rookie mistakes (like maybe running a wrong route leading to a pick six that changed the momentum of a game)

Its easy to say that doing this had that affect or not doing this caused that but the simple truth is no one knows or can know if its true or not.

If you said "hey Amish, do you think its possible that if the Packers had drafted a WR they may have won the NFCC game and maybe even the SB?" I'd be willing to bet he would say " yeah, its possible". Whereas if he said "hey Sunshine, do you think its possible that drafting Love inspired Rodgers to play better than he might have had they not drafted him?" It seems like you would say " no way in hell"
