I see how that works. He gets the cap number wrong, so it makes everything else that he says wrong. Glad you were there to correct him.
In my opinion if a reporter can't even get the facts correct I don't feel confident in him speculating on other parts.
A lot of the issue in reporting a cap hit for teams acquiring him is there are two figures as it is now - one with that option exercised and one without...two very big differences.
I honestly don't know what you mean by that. While a team acquiring Rodgers could theoretically not exercise the option I don't see that happening as it would result in a $60 million cap hit for him in 2023. BTW, that wasn't the number Silverstein first used in his article either.
Much of what some of us read in the Media are opinion pieces and where applicable, the reporter might throw in a named source, an unnamed source or just their hunch, based on what they know.
Unfortunately none of the reporters that have mentioned the Packers are done with Rodgers have named one of their sources. Not a single one.
I have no problem with people disagreeing with an opinion, but support your different opinion with facts or your assumptions.
It's a fact that during the 2021 offseason those same reporters that you're quoting now published that the Packers are done with Rodgers and that the quarterback told unanimous sources that he had played his last game for the Packers.
Fast forward to now and Rodgers is still on the team's roster and has started every single game since those reports have come out. Yet you still put a ton of stock into those rumors despite them having been proven completely wrong over the past two years.
But don't worry, at some point they will be correct about it.
True. I think it’s safe to say he’s earned his $11m money. Obviously he was a Day3 selection so his rookie money was minimal. The guy is just such a consummate professional both on and off the field. I’m more responding to some notion that he’s been “overpaid”. If anything he’s earned every dollar and then some. Very happy we retained him.
Just to clarify, I don't believe Jones has been overpaid either.
Yup I said it towards the end of the season, I don't see a 2023 where both are in GB. I won't guarantee it as of course there is a very small chance...but honestly I feel there is more of a chance neither is here than both are.
I highly doubt there's any chance neither Rodgers nor Love are on the roster in 2023.
Have you seen the rumors that Dallas would like to trade for Rodgers? That would reunite him with McCarthy. I wonder how they would both feel about that? Unless they fired McCarthy, but then who would replace him?
That's not going to happen. The Cowboys would take an additional cap hit by trading Prescott on top of having to pay Rodgers.
From what I've seen of him in Dallas so far, MM hasn't changed from the guy who left GB.
The Cowboys have actually played pretty well on offense since McCarthy took over as their head coach. Despite Prescott missing a total of 17 games over the past three seasons they rank third in points scored since 2020.
I've thought the same thing, but there is a scenario where I think Love and Rodgers will both be on the team. Rodgers tells the Packers he wants to play for 1 and only 1 year and then he 100% is going to retire. In that case, I still would be fine with the Packers trading Rodgers, but if they keep him and still think Love is the guy, they they lock Love in for the 5th year at $20M and convince him this is what is best for him, one more year on the bench and then he is the starter.
I don't consider that a viable option as it would result in the quarterbacks counting at least $42.735 million towards the team's cap in 2024.
Things that prevent both being on the team in 2023:
No Rodgers scenarios:
3. Packers decide to trade Rodgers and keep Love
Actually Rodgers could force his way into being on the Packers roster in 2023. There's no way the team can trade him without his approval.
Who knows when he will make his decision. Could be another 6 weeks of speculation.
I guarantee Rodgers will inform the Packers of his decision before the start of the new league year.
No one is placing any significant weight on the claims…is there a possibility it true of course…just as much as that none of it is. The worst case is if there is as much of both….and neither side is going to be happy.
@Pokerbrat2000 for sure puts in a lot of weight in those claims. Otherwise what's the point of posting at least one article per day containing another negative spin on Rodgers?
Doesn't take a rocket scientist to come to this conclusion. Of course Rodgers knows it too, the longer he waits, the more he hinders the Packers and their options.
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers could lose out on a major NFL opportunity, and his darkness retreat may be hindering his chances. While Aaron...

Did you even care to read the article? Of course it might make more sense for the Jets to sign Carr as they wouldn't have to give up any draft compensation for him, he would most likely be cheaper and he's significantly younger than Rodgers. It has absolutely nothing to do with AR not having informed the Packers of his decision to return for another season.
