Also - just how big is one game in the regular season? If we somehow flip the outcome in week 8 last season against the Falcons, we finish the regular season with a better record than them and, IMO, wind up as the NFC representative in the Super Bowl.
The way I have it figured, just flipping the outcome of that game would have resulted in the following seeding:
1. Cowboys
2. Packers
3. Seahawks
4. Falcons
5. Giants
6. Lions
This results in the Packers getting a bye in the wild card round. Jordy never gets his ribs broken and the Packers get two weeks to rest and double up on film study. Seahawks still face the Lions and beat them. The Falcons beat the Giants at home.
Divisional round: Cowboys host the Falcons, Packers host the Seahawks. I think that would have resulted in the same NFC Championship game we saw last year (Packers/Falcons), only with the game being played on the frozen tundra.
There's such a fine line, and a small margin for error in professional football.
That's how important one game is in a 16 game regular season.
