It's a must win as far as I'm concerned. I don't want Seattle owning any tie-breaker over us come playoff time.
That could play a big factor no question, but for me, the biggest thing is the threat of potentially going down 0-2, having to play at Atlanta the next week.

It's part of the reason the NFL rules the sports world. Every game absolutely means something. and in the same breath, it's a long season and a lot can change. both points are true. It's not an either or proposition. I think it's great. A game can define the season, at least the outcome and yet it can be almost forgotten by seasons end as well.

Every game is important, but there's no such thing as a "must win" in the first couple of games.

2014 (1-2) comes to mind and look no further than last season when we were 4-6 and made it to the NFCCG.

Yes. we ALL want the #1 seed and home field advantage (AR12 has been preaching this and I think he's going to make it happen), but if we're being real, just win enough games to make it into the playoffs and then win out.

Yeah and in 2014 We lost to Seattle week 1 and ended up playing in Seattle for that NFCCG. Would things of ended that way at Lambeau Field? And another game in 2014 that we choked away since we're on the subject was "At Buffalo".

2010 road warriors was great but if last year taught us anything it was that a bye and home field advantage increases the probabilities of going the distance all that much more. I mean the Pack was playing some of the hottest football I've ever seen and let's face it, We ran out of gas.

Obviously the season isn't over if we lose to Seattle week 1 but just imagine how set we will be if we beat those Sea-Chickens and then march into Atlanta and ruin the opening of there new stadium.

We would be set up for "greatness". GPG!

Run The Table was the most fun I've had as a Packers fan.

Probably for me it was going into the 2010 playoffs on the road and underdogs.....eventually marching into Atlanta and destroying them on our wait to the SB win. But yes, the "Run the Table" was fun too....a season that looked headed for the toilet and some major changes coming....and ******....we are in the NFCCG.

Such a shame that Rodgers wasn't given a chance in a shootout with the Falcons. Crosby's missed field goal, and RIP's fumble took 10 points off the board, and by the time we got our 3rd possession, we're down 17-0 with virtually no chance.

Game was over as soon as Rip fumbled. *sigh*

I wasn't a true fan during the SB run, so I can't look back at it like most of you :(

I need to experience winning it all as a true die hard fan. BADLY.

Think that game was over when our defense got on the plane in GB.

Ohhh you missed out on something special that year. Even the NFCCG at Chicago was a golden moment. Raji picking one off and dancing in the endzone.

But that Divisional game in Atlanta, I will never forget. Atlanta was THE team to beat and nobody gave the Packers much of a chance.....almost like last year. AR and company just went in there and destroyed them. Reminded me a bit of the Playoff game against Dallas last year....I kept pinching myself saying "We are going to win this?"

There's a really great video on Youtube that showcases the entire season + Super Bowl run (It's 30 minutes or so), and I've probably watched it 50 times.

I've always been a low-key fan but it just took me a while to really fall in love with the team/sport (2013 is when I really started becoming invested) but I'm here now and I want the Lombardi Trophy to come back home!

The mission starts next Sunday afternoon!

I'll one up you. That game was over as soon as Crosby's kick went through the uprights in Arlington.

I had the absolute worst feeling about Atlanta for a month or so leading up to the playoffs and knew we didn't want any part of them. As game week went along, the fan in me starting to get a little confident. And I'll never forget as the Fox telecast came on, something kept telling me there's no way we're about to win this game. Just didn't feel right.

New season, though. Really need that #1 seed.

Yeah, my only hope in Atlanta was to force a few turnovers early and get out to a sizable lead. Neither of those things happened and the snowball just rolled faster and bigger.

Wait...did you say 2013 was your first real love for the Packers? The year the Packers finished 8–7–1? Followed up by the snake oil in Seattle the next year. Can I direct you to possibly follow the Cleveland Browns? :whistling: or...maybe you already are? ;)

With the NFL regular season only featuring 16 games every single one of them has significance in the long run. Just remember that the Packers losing the opener in 2014 at Seattle resulted in the NFCCG that year being played at Century Link Field.
Exactly. That week one game has the same bearing on the overall record as the week 14 one does. THEY ALL MATTER!

I'm just glad the game is in Green Bay...while it would be nice to beat them on their own turf, CenturyLink Field is my least favorite place to see the Packers travel to. Opening up the Falcons new Mercedes-Benz Stadium the following week is going to be.....a challenge.

I remember saying in the days leading up to the game that Ryan would give us at least 3-4 opportunities for turnovers. And he did, but our defense just couldn't make the plays.

One big pick-6 in that first half would have changed the entire tone of the game.

Also - just how big is one game in the regular season? If we somehow flip the outcome in week 8 last season against the Falcons, we finish the regular season with a better record than them and, IMO, wind up as the NFC representative in the Super Bowl.

The way I have it figured, just flipping the outcome of that game would have resulted in the following seeding:

1. Cowboys
2. Packers
3. Seahawks
4. Falcons
5. Giants
6. Lions

This results in the Packers getting a bye in the wild card round. Jordy never gets his ribs broken and the Packers get two weeks to rest and double up on film study. Seahawks still face the Lions and beat them. The Falcons beat the Giants at home.

Divisional round: Cowboys host the Falcons, Packers host the Seahawks. I think that would have resulted in the same NFC Championship game we saw last year (Packers/Falcons), only with the game being played on the frozen tundra.

There's such a fine line, and a small margin for error in professional football.

That's how important one game is in a 16 game regular season.

There aren't any must wins aside of being eliminated by losing a game but there's no doubt the week 1 matchup against the Seahawks might influence playoff seedings and therefore is extremely important.

The rich get richer on defense smh. I sure hope we can block!!! I had us winning, but with Richardson being added to Seattle that changes things. He's not an average players he's actually pretty good. If we can't run the ball to keep them from teeing off on Rodgers it could be 0-1. Not to mention the offensive line especially on the right side worries me.
