Jaire played only 10 snaps after reaggravating his knee injury in the 1st half... which was still 6 more snaps than Eric Stokes had. I think that speaks volumes about the long term employment of #21 in Green Bay after this season.

I’d really like to see us go after 2 CB’s for next year. Ideally a Day 1-2 draft selection + a good veteran FA

I'd like to see us quit dikking around and beef up both lines so we can win the line of scrimmage to deal with some real contenders like the Lions eagles and 49ers

There will be some good quality DL in this draft. It might even be a position Gutey hunts down in FA after the Preston Smith loss. It often takes a iDL a year or two to pop (think Wyatt). Might be best to just reinforce DL with another know Veteran.

Early prognostications say there will be a run on defensive seven players in the first 3 rounds. It's going to be the biggest takes of that portion of the draft. If you want someone who has real talent, it will have to be very early, or you'll lose out.

Sorry to be so jaded, but honestly... at this point, I'd be very nervous about Gute using a 1st round pick on a front 7 D, or any other D for that matter. I'm half-kidding here, so take this as just a wise-*** crack, but I almost wonder if he's better off taking a 1st round WR and trading him 2 years later for the DL or LB that someone else took in the 1st.

Again... not a serious suggestion... but not completely off the wall either.

I wonder if part of the problem at this point is the switch to more base 4-3 v s 3-4? It's a major difference for so many players within that group that it's difficult figuring out how many actually fit the new scheme.

What I did see, against the Bears, late in the contest, was a pretty substantial pass rush, despite some wide open gaps where Williams exploited it. That, methinks, is more on the fact that the Packers did not use anyone from the LB crew to act as a spy. They played it more as if he was a pocket passer.

Then there was the two different Brendin Cox players we saw on the field. The one who worked to the backfield well, and held corners, and then the one who totally failed to hold the corner. It showed how raw he is, and at the same time, how much potential there is in him. I hope the talent end wins.

Regardless of what they think, or anyone else thinks, I believe they already miss Smith out there. We talked about his lack of production, but to be honest, I think that one of the reasons we saw that is that teams schemed away from him, looking at weaker spots on the field to exploit. But, that's just an opinion. I haven't watched any decent game film to make a judgement on it.The uptick as guys learn to play in his place will come. I hope it made a big jump in this game, because at this point, we're dog meat for the Vikings and Lions if it isn't there.

A good point about division games. Thats why we need the 49rs game to become a springboard for GB to manifest an attitude of confidence, discipline, along with good game time decisions. All of that starts at the top.

One thing about Preston is while he did not always light up the stat board, he was a very well rounded player. He didn’t give up that Edge very often and I recall him running some players down for eventual losses, often it was someone else mopping up his blockade.

DL is very hit or miss outside a Top 10 selection. BJ was good. Kenny was a good pick for a 20’s overal. Wyatt is more recently holding his own as a fringe Round 1/Rd2 pick. Call him break even. The issue is it often takes 2-3 years to get that production and we can’t wait around hoping on it. I think we should do what we did with the Smiths in FA (or McKinney) Go get 1 solid veteran player coming off a Rookie deal, but primed DL with some pocket collapsing prowess, but solid against the Run. We don’t need a $25mil a year guy. I’m talking more on up to that McKinney contract $$. 4X65m 4X69M $25m guaranteed type $$

I know everyone's gonna go ahead and rub it in, but you guys aren't gonna do anything in the playoffs. Anyways you beat the worst team in the league arguably by a point so sleep on that.

This is just taking shots at everyone because you expected a win. You don't have to get all whiney about it. I slept perfectly fine. I would also so that the Packers are in a much better spot to have a playoff run than the bears. Realistically, the Packers are not good enough to make a Super Bowl run. One never knows though. Just get there and get hot at the right time.

Think it's kind of revisionist history to call the Bears the worst team in the league too. Nobody was saying that heading into the game. Terrible offense, but a really solid defense. They're a botched Hail Mary and a blocked FG away from being the #6 seed in the NFC. I know they're not the end-all, be-all, but were there ANY "power rankings" that had the Bears as #32 last week? I seriously doubt it.

Well, I'm sure as hell not going to rub it in. This is nothing for cheeseheads to brag about; it may be the ugliest game I've ever seen us win.

And you're right - this version of the Packers is going to get humiliated in January. They need to pull their heads out of their ***** and develop some consistency and some discipline - although I'll give them credit for keeping the penalties down this time.

And most important, some damned leadership. I don't see much evidence of that this year, especially on offense. It's a serious downside of being the youngest team in the league. Every team needs a couple of grumpy old men to keep the kids in line.

Like I say, I won'tvb rub it it because I know how lucky we got. This is a game the Bears should have won, and deserved to win. And the fans deserved it too.

But hell, I'll take it.

My coach is a female dog in heat. Who doesn't try to get closer for a game-winning field goal against the team you haven't beat in five years That is your arch nemesis........?? my head coach that who.
He tried to run out of soldier field with his tail between his legs with the W like a thief in the night instead of lining up and trying to beat you guys mono mono, and he got what he deserved and he's gonna get what he deserves at the end of the season, but it should be today.
That was the weakest, most pathetic gutless coaching I've ever seen in my life and honestly I'm glad we lost because maybe if he beats the Packers he keeps his job and that cannot happen so as much as it hurt, I would rather have my leg broken then lost that game......but now that I see he'll be fired. It's all for the best.

I'm not going to pound my chest on this one. It was a lucky break at best. The Packers were outplayed, period. Caleb Williams looks like the real deal. A little experience, and a little help in his surrounding cast, and he's going to be a franchise QB.

That is, unless they play musical chairs like they have in the past, with coaches calling the signals. That's killed any continuity with everyone else they've had.

Looking forward to the game in GB.

It’s how us guys win respect. We might irritate the crap out if each other, but once we’ve just went in the backyard and beat each other to smitherines there will never be a full respect.

This long testament is for you @Voyageur!! You’re always telling good stories. I learned this at the tender young age of 21yrs. My older brother used to bounce at bars. He's only 6’1X225lb but he’s strong as an Ox, his best friends were all in powerlifting competitions and I’ve watched him bench 315X10 Once he came over my house and harassed me because I got fired from a job and didn’t tell him. He went to my work just to stop by and found out and I guess it embarrassed him. He tried to take that out on me and I weighed like 185lbs soaking wet. But he forgot I wrestled for 4 years in HS and trained in Korean Martial arts for several Summers but at that time I weight trained 5 days a week and had disproportionately strong legs for my size. I’d tell you what I leg pressed back then, but you wouldn’t believe me. I’ve won $$ betting people on several occasions over the years on leg lift challenges. So I used that training and proceeded to Fireman carry my Brother Gary “Gar Bear” into a literal spinning helicopter ride into a wall. At which time I rode him like a bull on the ground and each time he tried to get up I chopped him back down. Today they call this Juditsu… but I was going a crude freestyle back in 1990!
He eventually overpowered me 5 minutes into all that, but his face was as red as a Cherry he was so exhausted. Now at that point he could’ve probably killed Me, but he underestimated me when I’m mad and I think it scared him a little. Don’t ever F with a guy who just lost his job! Sorry I still have flashbacks of RED!

He’s never talked down to me like that in 30 years since. So a deep love and respect is earned with some punches and a can of WhoopAsz

Yep. Would rather have had my leg broken, then lose the game like that but I have to remember it's all good cause Ben Johnson is going to be a great HC.
Hell I'd take our interim OC as HC now. I can't tell you how disgusted I was that when I woke up I did not have an alert that Eberflus had been fired. What's it take huh? No Sunday road wins in 3 years 2-11 vs division and about 6 this law is not 90% or above to win w/ the amount of time left.

Self respect doesn't always mean winning. Sometimes it means accepting defeat with grace and dignity. When I coached, I had a philosophy that I wanted followed by my kids. When you scored a TD, act like you'd been there before. Give the ball to the official, and head to the sidelines. You can celebrate over there without humiliating the other team. It's actually funny how much better my teams played when they acted that way. The other teams began to think that scoring came easy to them, and they weren't going to stay in the game with them. It's like everything else in life. You don't need to put a light on yourself if you're doing things right. Others will know you are. They can see it.

Like you said, OldSchool, you may not have been able to beat your brother in the end, but you earned the respect, and it was never tested again in that way. I look at the Bears game, two back, and a DB taunting the fans for the opposition, and seeing the TD pass that beat them, a Hail Mary. How ironic. I hope all the Bears players learned something about themselves, and their part of the team, as they move forward.

Caleb, on moving on with a new head coach. I'm afraid that's what the Bears always do. You have to create a winning program, and it never works when you keep starting over with a new staff calling the shots. The Bears constant coaching changes has made them a laughing stock in the NFL because of it. Until they settle in, and give someone several years to develop a program, you're doomed. We went through that in the 70s and 80s, until we had Wolf take over as President, and he hired Holmgren. That put more continuity into the program.
