:roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: Gotta love Campbell!

Dan Campbell on Jahmyr Gibbs posting a photo: “I don’t really give a crap. If we’re gonna lose because of code words, then we’re not good enough anyway. I think we’ll just post the whole freaking playbook and every code word we’ve got. It doesn’t matter. It’s not gonna hurt us.”

I wholeheartedly believe him, but also wholeheartedly believe Gibbs got his A** reemed....

??

If the Lions cover the 3 1/2 point spread, meaning they score 4 or more points (for me to win the bet) than the Packers, how do the Packers win?

LOL I completely knew the odds were their favor but read it the opposite LOL

Disregard, as I go get more coffee this monday.

It's tough to admire any other NFC North coach, but I really like Campbell! The players probably just love him.

We play each other twice a year. There are no real secrets. The last game was dictated to some extent by the weather. This time the game plan will have nothing to do with the elements.
Probably true. Maybe a few wrinkles that we as armchair observes wouldn't get.

You do realize the game after we play them they get Buffalo don't you?
Yeah at this point, the teams are bunched so close, nothing is impossible as far as the final standings.

What seems like a likely path is that the Packers lose to Detroit, win out and finish with a 13-4 record, which would only be good for a 5th seed because of the lousy play in the NFC South and West.

Too funny....I had to read it several times, before I was pretty sure I was right. That said, if you pointed out how I was wrong, I had the coffee excuse ready to roll too! :whistling::coffee:

Well I am glad that both the NFC West and South suck this year. Part of that is that we have had 3 games (LA, AZ, SF) and will have 1 more (Seattle) with the West and 1 coming up with the Saints. Typically, I wouldn't want 4 games with teams from the NFC West.

Also, no matter how bad all 8 of those teams are, the winner of their respective division gets a top 4 seed, no matter how bed their record may be.

Lions, Vikings and Packers should all make the playoffs and it won't be surprising if all 3 are favored to win their first playoff game.

I gotta say, what's really been impressive to me is just how well Campbell has turned things around but also how patient Detroit has been with him. I don't think I'm alone in thinking that he had a real "high school football coach" energy* about him when he first came over, saying a bunch of ridiculous things that you almost had to laugh at (but he wasn't trying to be funny) and just came across kind of "extra" if you know what I mean.

And then year one they started off 0-10-1, finishing 3-13-1. Next year they start off 1-6, but have a late turnaround and finish 9-8 (and ruined our playoff shot, lol). Last year, they jump out to an 8-2 start, finish 12-5, and make it to the NFC title game (And should have won!). And now they're 11-1 and you could make a strong case for being the best team in the league right now. Kudos to them for sticking with it.

Kind of an aside and a bit of a long story, but....

Way back when I was in high school, we played a team called the Rocks. One day before practice, our coach called us over, had us take a knee, and said he wanted to tell us about a dream he had.

And he said..."I had a dream we were out here on the practice field, and for some reason there was all these big rocks all over the place, so we couldn't practice. So I said boys, gather up, we're gonna have to get these rocks out of the way. And you all pushed all these rocks into a big pile on the side of the field.

And then I said you know what, this is going to sound weird, but I want you guys to try and take a leak on this pile of rocks. Just squeeze out a few drops if that's all you've got. And then I climbed up on top of that pile of rocks, and well, Coach had him a big bowl of Mrs. Coach's famous chili last night, and I couldn't help but take a massive dump right on that pile of rocks.

Well, I think I know what that dream meant. It means that on Friday, there's gonna be a bunch of Rocks in our way, but we're gonna push and shove them right off the field and when we're done with them they're gonna have sh*t on their helmets and p*ss running down their legs!!!"

Anyways, that's the kind of vibe that Dan Campbell's earlier pressers reminded me of, hahaha

I think Lions OC Ben Johnson deserves a lot of credit for the Lions success. Won't surprise me if the guy is HC somewhere next season. At the age of 24, he started at BC as a graduate assistant and at the ripe old age of 38, he's ready to coach a team.

Lions GM Brad Holmes deserves a lot of credit too. Since he started in 2021, the Lions have drafted REALLY well and slowly become one of the top teams in the NFL.

While we're complimenting other coaches in the division, the Vikings under O'Connell rarely blow out teams, but they really know how to win the close games. In 3 seasons under O'Connell, they've played 34 one possession games, and they are 24-10 in those games.

Dan is right. It doesn't mean squat. It's amazing how people don't realize what goes into game planning. On every play, the defense has a play caller, and on offense, an O-lineman, usually the center, calls the line assignments based on the defense he sees, and the QB calls options within the play, or even changes the play.

How many times did people hear P. Manning yelling; "Omaha!?"

Yes. Low scoring game in the elements.
In some ways our last Detroit loss reminded me of our loss to SF49ers in the 2021 Divisional game 10-13. The blocked punt TD and we missed a FG block. While the circumstances were different, that’s a 10 point swing. Last meeting Detroit INT a pass for an easy TD and Mcnamus missed a 46 yarder. (10pts). 2 plays that generated a loss of 10 points for the Packers.

I’m not implying GB would’ve won. However GB did out productivity Detroit and it wasn’t close. We failed to convert in the Redzone and killed ourselves with 10 penalties. Our Defense allowed 17 points to the leagues #1 Offense.

GB has the ability to beat Detroit. The Packers need to play cleaner. I’m not suggesting zero mistakes. Yet if we can win or Tie the takeaways battle and keep flags minimal? We have a good shot. I’m never going to discount Detroit because watching them one thing they possess is they will not quit. They play through the last whistle and they can play from behind or play from ahead.

This said, they are dinged up right now, which = they held 4 players out today. Law of averages said 1-2 won’t be active. They also have 18 players currently on IR. one has been replaced with a starter in Z Smith. But that’s still 17 net. Plus 4 more held out today.

The Packers will possibly have J’aire Alexander this meeting. He did not play Detroit our first meeting. There’s also a reasonable chance we get Romeo Doubs back. Both players have practiced this week so it’s not improbable they both play.

GB is getting healthier and it’s perfect timing.

Yes. Today they yell

To initiate a play I used to like the old “Blue 44 Blue 44 Hut hut hut hut”(pads cracking together)
Today it’s real boring and to the point they just go
“Let’s go let’s Go let’s Go!!”

In another 30 years it’ll be….

“Just Snap the Ball you Fn idiot!”

Of course I want The Pack to win and am looking forward to a great game. But except that I want them to play well I can't help thinking it isn't really that important. Peaking is a bit too early imho and when we get into the playoffs; that's when we should be playing our best and with our best players. So I don't even want Jaire to play yet if he's not 100 percent. And home court advantage hasn't been much of an advantage for us. In the playoffs we have to be playing great and beat all the best teams to get to where we want to go. So whatever seed we are is OK with me right now.

The one thing I would say about this game is that the lions still have their offense. Montgomery and Gibbs are the best 1-2 punch at RB in the NFL. I don't know the stats on it, but they are both starters on almost every team. Their oline is one of the best, if not the best. St. Brown just simply gets open. LaPorta is down a bit but still a weapon. Goff is also playing some of his best ball of the season. They are going to be hard to stop regardless of how many injuries they have on defense.

With that said, the Packers are now a rushing team. Make no mistake about it. They are 5th in rushing yards in the league. Less than 100 yards behind the Lions. It's not that they can't throw. They are ranked 10th in ypg. Lions are at 5. Now, the Lions are the best scoring team in the NFL at 32 ppg. The Packers are 8th sitting at a more than respectable 26.5. The Bears managed to slow the Lions offense down in the 2nd half. Now, that did include a redzone takeaway, but still. They slowed them down. If the Pack can manage the clock well and run the football it will be close. Should be a fun one to watch.

I'm actually going to take the Pack in this one. 24-20
