Wow. Great job Gute!

The man isnt afraid to wheel and deal. Maybe a serious Mack deal really is on the table.

Oh hell.....there goes our Trade Bait to land Mack....first Janis, now Hundley. Time to pack Ha Ha's bags up, get some value and sign Reid.

I WISH the Packers would have the cojones to puck up Reid. Great stat I saw yesterday; since 2010 there have been 9 safeties who had at least 30 pass deflections before turning 26, all are ProBowlers or AllPros with the exception of Reid (unemployed) or Tyrann Mathieu (who has torn his ACL a few times). It's criminal that the team won't man up and sign a guy when they routinely expect their players to show more bravery and dedication to winning.

And to help tie this back to the topic, I think trading Hundley is more a function of MM realizing he won't design an offense that caters to Hundley's unique skills which are closer to what Russel Wilson does than Aaron Rodgers.

That is an excellent point and one I hadn't thought about. Good luck to Brett, just don't become a Pro Bowler! Something I am not too worried about. :coffee:

Gotta Keep Boyle on the 53. If he is waived, someone will pick him up. They tried that last year with Taysom Hill.

One thing they might try is to keep him on the 53 to start the season. Then after week 2, try to sneak him through waivers when Jones gets activated and then Boyle to the PS.

Had to get rid of Hundley he was making the Kizer trade look bad. Thing is Boyle looked better than either Hundley or Kizer, so let's trade Kizer for a 7th rounder pick and roll with Boyle as the number two.

I was really impressed with the way Boyle was slinging the ball, kid can throw. If he plays well in the final PS game he might finish up his dark horse campaign to make the roster as the number two Quarterback.

Not that the Packers would win a lot of games with Kizer playing, but I think putting an UDFA rookie QB in the #2 spot would be a disaster waiting to happen. No way should a team that is predicted to make a run at the Super Bowl have such a guy sitting as its backup QB. Might be fine for the Browns, but they have been playing for Draft position the last several years.

All of that leads me to the question of why even have Boyle as your #3? Only reason, is to protect him. Boyle should not be expected to take any meaningful snaps in 2018. If Rodgers or Kizer go down, time to sign a vet FA QB, if the Packers are still in the playoff conversation.

Slightly increases my pathetic chances to pick up points in Amish’s draft contest. Very slightly. Gonna be tough next year without any compensatory picks.

Also the Saints traded for Bridgewater. Did none of the Packer fans around here tell them that Taysom Hill is a future HOF'er?

Given Kizer's work in PS and last year in season I think you need a Vet quarterback if Rodgers goes down. Would have liked to have seen more development and more seasoning from him as a second year NFL player. I'll say this much I was impressed with what Boyle showed throwing moving in the pocket and the poise he showed with oncoming rushers. A couple of his big pass players came with blitzing LBs coming up his nose.

VERY STRONG arm, looks smooth on his dropbacks and seems to throw a beautiful ball even when he's out of position. Doesn't seem to get nervous with the rush. Would like to see if Week 1 wasn't a flash in the pan because throwing off your backfoot like you're Aaron Rodgers only seems to work if you're Aaron Rodgers and a few others. That being said Boyle's arm talent has been turning heads since OTAs.

Hill has been a special teams standout and with his unique skillset the Saints are talking about finding a role for him on offense other than quarterback. Given the way theyre thinking of using him Id see it as a likelihood that the injury risk is simply too high. Besides with his intelligence and skill set maybe he is better off playing elsewhere on the field.

Wow. Busy news day for the Pack. Can't say I'm sorry to see him go. The coaches and Brian G. said that they could see an improvement in his play this year. I'm glad they could see it, cuz I sure didn't. Hope things work out for him.

Sure hope Kizer keeps improving. I have more hope for him than I did for Kizer.

He's not a good enough quarterback. If he was, the Saints wouldn't be shelling out a 3rd round pick for Bridgewater, or sticking him on special teams. A backup QB is way, way more valuable than a gunner. The infatuation that Packer fans have had with Hill since they cut him is ridiculous.

You can't base Kizer as a QB on 1 year in Cleveland a team where they have so little talent that Aaron Rodgers would through more INTs than TDs. I myself will admit I wasn't impressed with Kizer this pre-season though, and we would need to hope and pray Aaron doesn't get hurt this year, but I think we're better off with Kizer than Hundley no matter when Aaron gets hurt again.

Interesting that they’re reportedly keeping Boyle on the 53.

Not all that surprising. Boyle is probably the better short term backup, he's just way ahead of Kizer in making reads and all the mental stuff. I think it would make more sense to let him carry the clipboard on gamedays and let Kizer run the scout team to start the season. Kizer left college a year too early and it doesn't appear he's learned a lot in his time with the Browns (can't really blame him for that though), so he basically needs another redshirt year.
