Shocked but glad. Because few things are guaranteed...death, taxes, and Matthews or Perry (possibly both) getting hurt just to name a few. Now go get Haden.

I'm slightly hoping for OT Cyrus Kouandjio... IF his "behavioral issues" are under control and/or chemically managed.
If there is another FA signing, OL would not surprise me at all. It appears the Packers depth is slim to none, so much like OLB, a veteran signing would be welcomed IMO.

While great news for Packer fans, the signing of Brooks has to make Fackrell, Gilbert and Calvin very nervous.

Nah, not when it's a one year deal on an aged vet. This is a recognition of weakness, not an exploration of options. Or, at least, they shouldn't be any more nervous than they should have already been.

Only room for 1 of those 3 on 53... Special Teams and ceiling will decide, IMHO. I believe all 3 are PS eligible, which may not be a bad landing spot for the other 2, though.

FYI on the "Another(!) free agent signing coming" comment...... he just worded his tweet poorly. He was just saying that this was another FA signing from ol Teddy. This has to be the most active offseason he's ever had.

Yes. Misleading the way that it reads, but I agree he wasn't suggesting another signing.

Hell another Ted Thompson signing after this one might make the universe explode. :D

Yup and depends on the status of Biegel as well. If they want to get one of the 3 on the PS, I say release him at the final cuts, while there are 1100+ other "new players" on the market and odds are none of those 3 will be that interesting for another team to sign. If Biegel starts the season on the PUP, which looks likely, might be harder to hide the guy they release when Biegel is activated.

Right now it looks like the following will be the Packers OLB group to start the season. They may have to keep 6 if Matthews and/or Perry aren't healthy:
  1. Perry
  2. Matthews
  3. Brooks
  4. Elliott
  5. Fackrell/Gilbert/Calvin

Amazing what one veteran signing can do to change the depth/outlook on the entire OLB group.

Ahmad Brooks wore #55 in San Francisco, who wants to be in charge of telling Cody Heiman his services are no longer needed, but to leave his jersey by the door?

I liked Heiman's story when the Packers signed him as un UDFA, but I haven't heard anything about him since.

I think that Denver is a legit playoff contender. They need a good QB, a starting RB, and a competent OL to be in serious consideration for the SB. Sieman needs to step up, not to Rodgers level, but needs to be more than he's been.

Defense doesn't win championships - except for 2000 Ravens. Offense wins in the modern era, and it helps a LOT if you've got a good defense. I see a Denver offense that is about as competent as Dilfer's in 2000 but the defense isn't of the same caliber - which, was one of the greatest of all time.
We will agree to disagree. Yes, their QB play must improve if they are going to take the next step. I disagree with your RB analysis however. Anderson can play and play well, when healthy. He's averaged close to 5 per tote for his career and has a nose for the end zone. Charles was a sneaky good pickup too in my eyes. He has obvious injury concerns but he also has the highest career YPA in league history and certainly flashed the other night. He still has plenty of juice in those legs and can house one any given carry.

Also, I would point to the Seahawks when talking about defenses winning titles. Yes, they scored plenty of points but a ton of them were either scored defensively, on ST's or stemmed from outstanding field position compliments of you know who. When you say Seahawks the first word that comes to anyone's mind is defense. They had a ground and pound offensive game-plan and a stifling defense.

I'm not here to carry the water did DEN but I do think they're right on the cusp of being legit SB contenders. We'll see...
