I honestly thought I wasn`t a big fan of Favre, the way he behaved at the end, but the last few seasons of Rodgers tenure here has made me detest the man. He is an ego maniac. I`m seriously glad he`s finally gone. Sorry if that offends some of the members on here but it is what it is.
Well of course I am offended!! :laugh:lol how dare you go to a game at Tottenham only to expose the egocentric for who he truly is. This is really rare coming from you bill. Watch the chokefest begin!:)

I'm late to this, but I'll just say that this was a masterful job by Gutekunst.

The argument that the Packers didn't hold all the leverage here always presumed that the Jets were the only team that might be interested. As soon as there were rumblings about other teams jumping in, that all crumbled.

The other thing I will say is this: the offensive supporting cast that Rodgers is joining is not good.

The OC is terrible, the line has the potential to be flat out bad, the stud RB is coming off a torn ACL, and for all the talk of "weapons everywhere," they have Garrett Wilson and their next best pass catcher is Allen Lazard.

There's a real chance that Rodgers is downgrading in terms of offensive support when you fact the OL and the coaching. And if Hackett just allows him to embrace all his worst on-field tendencies, which seems likely, this is going to get ugly.
I cannot disagree w this take - I think its spot on. Hackett - pffff ya NO - he was so prolific in Denver. ;) Cobb and Big dog are way over the hill. All in for the jets will produce a 10 W season with a lot of luck. Their D is legit but what if the princess decides he doesnt like his targets that he needs to feel out before throwing to them regularly.

Sad to see him go? Like a band aid - RIGHT OFF

Yeah I mean we just saw this right?

Hackett had no control over Wilson, the restraints that had kept him from coming unraveled in Seattle were gone, Wilson leaned into all his worst tendencies, and the whole thing fell apart.

There are a lot of parallels. Rodgers has been partially hemmed in by LaFleur and his offense. He’s been stellar when he plays within it. He’s sucked when he leans back into his old hero ball habits. No his coach is his buddy who will probably let him do whatever he wants.

If angry, chip on his shoulder Aaron Rodgers shows up in New York they are absolutely Super Bowl contenders. If indifferent, distracted Aaron Rodgers shows up they will be lucky to make the playoffs. But I think they get the former and not the latter. I'm sure AR wants to stick it to Murphy and does not want to be Jets Favre 2.0.
The same angry, chip on his shoulder Aaron Rodgers who wanted to stick it to the 49ers in all those playoff games?

Don‘t let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya. Never was a Rodgers fan and I’m ready to move on. I think we got good value, we could have done far better LAST year but what’s done is done. Way ready to start watching a TEAM tring to WIN instead of a team being led by an arrogant a-hole feeling like his underlings aren’t worthy of him. GoPackGo

"Never was a Rodgers fan", that explains a lot.

Disagree to a point. Regardless of whether they hit with the picks doesn't change the fact of what Gute managed to get in the deal.
Agreed.

Also, the fact that the Jets took on the $58.3 M was just as big, if not bigger than the picks, IMO. Had the Jets backed out and went a different direction, what kind of deal do the Packers get and how long do they wait? Some suggested to just sit Rodgers and reject any low ball offers. Besides the drama that would have created, suddenly your cap is a disaster, you are paying massive amounts of money to a guy that isn't playing and you lose a roster spot, just to make a point? That would have set the Packers back more than just outright releasing Rodgers would have.

Would have loved more draft capital, but that ship sailed last year. The Packers can now get on with LAR (Life After Rodgers) and after this season, be financially (cap wise) done with the him.

This IMO is as good as Gute was going to get.

See ya Aaron. It was great having you all these years and I wish you success with the Jets--just not against us. Made following the Packers fun but i'm looking forward to see the page turned.

One has to imagine that behind closed doors that the Jets offered Rodgers a lot of latitude when it comes to the offense. I agree that I think we see the worst in terms of Rodgers and doing whatever he wants when he wants. For example, the ole passing on running play calls that go flying by a WR with his hands help up after it zings by.

Now, don't get me wrong. I was on the side of keeping Rodgers due to him being our best shot at winning. However, now that the deal is over it does seem a recipe for disaster in New Jersey. Lazard is a gutsy player, but I still see him as a #3. My hope in all of this is Rodgers hits that 65% of plays mark and we get that coveted 1st round pick.

Since we will be getting either the Jets 1st or 2nd rounder in 2024, I'd prefer any "success" he has with the Jets comes in 2024. Cheers to Rodgers playing at least 65% of the 2023 snaps and the Jets don't win a game or at least end up with the the worst record in the NFL this season. That isn't asking too much is it? :D
