Well we’ll see how he does with Brees now. I would have dumped Lewis and brought him back. Do you know what the Saints gave him?

The Saints signed Cook to a two-year, $15 million contract with $8 million guaranteed.

Point was you didn't have a guy as consistent as Gronk, outside of Graham when he was on the Saints, since Tony G and Antonio Gates

When it came to a TE you could count on, to consistently put up 60+ receptions and 600+ yards

Kelce is hurt too often
Olsen doesn't ever have a good quarterback

Cook was penny pinching by Ted. He thought he could have a string on veteran TE on 1 year contract easily.
Yeah I think everything TT did in FA was penny pinching. He got lucky with Cook, Cook produces on a 1 year, and then he won’t pay him. I won’t be unhappy if they take Hock or Fant in rd 1. Maybe Fant falls to rd 2. And maybe ?Graham has a good year and stays healthy. Lotsa maybes........

Gronk has been the most consistent tight end for the majority of his career but that wasn't true for the 2016 and '18 seasons.

Fant will likely not fall to round 2. I don't think he makes it past New England. If we miss out on Hock at 12 (or select a different player altogether) we'd likely have to trade up to get Fant from 30 the way a lot of mocks are trending right now. The closer he gets to 30, the likelihood NE jumps over us to take him goes up IMO.

I wouldn't feel comfortable with trading up for Fant or any other tight end for the matter.

Good point. NE excels at a lot, but they are at their best with a top 5 TE. #12 is too soon for Fant. If Hockenson goes 1-11, then yeah, trade up and grab Fant. Could be expensive if they get in a bidding war with NE.

In that case it might be smarter to select a different tight end.

I would not get in a bidding war over a TE. There's a difference if one of those guys is there and the rest of your top prospects are gone so you take him, or you start moving draft picks and leaving guys on the board because you don't want to lose a TE to a different team.

I agree and your point is a good one. TE is not a position worth bidding for. I’d like an impact player at #12, that is, a guy who can become All Pro in a year, two max. They should be able to get such a player at #12.

I’d still like to see them take a TE at some point - Hockenson, Fant, or Irv Smith - but won’t get upset if it doesn’t roll that way. I would like to see a solid slot receiver to replace Cobb. Time is of the essence in GB!
