We have no issue with people disagreeing with others opinions. We DO have an issue with smartass and childish behavior towards other members. You're all adults, and we'd like you to act like it.
Why is there no pessimistic button? If someone has the right to call a post “optimistic”, it makes no sense to not have the alternative.

If you don’t like longtimefan’s packerforum there is atleast 3 other popular packer discussion boards on the internet. I kinda like this one though, it’s less cheerful and I like it that way.
That's because there is a critical mass of intellectually honest and analytical folks who stay on top of things around here. Fan boys with rose colored glasses don't get much traction.

Sorry Buggy that was just too big of a softball floating in slow motion coming at me...I just had to hit it out of the park with a Red X. :whistling:

Actually, what you need is a different symbol for "disagree".

What do people viscerally (another fancy word) associate the Big Red X with? It's the teacher marking an answer wrong. So it's a double whammy. The user of the X is assuming a superior position, the teacher, while not so much disagreeing as saying, "you're wrong!"

You might want to consider one of these if you're not locked into the X by the software package:

https://www.google.com/search?q=disagree+emoji&tbm=isch&source=iu&ictx=1&fir=UztpVTm6p-SlMM%3A%2CHAyLR7-j6iDDyM%2C_&usg=AI4_-kRF5sizeF_6fJ6pw-Prll8x3R3ZSQ&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjIh62Dn4TfAhUILK0KHQB1CIoQ9QEwAHoECAIQBA#imgrc=UztpVTm6p-SlMM

I'd go with this one:

Dunno if you have to pay to use it.

Personally, I don't care, but it might help solve some headaches.

Why not just have a thumbs down marker?

Maybe they can just shift this emoji down into the ratings emoji's, what bad things could become of it? :poop::poop::poop:

Quoted for truth. This "rule" is definitely going to create many pointless arguments. Like you said, sometimes there is no point in continuing to argue with someone. Disagree and move on is the best for everyone.
Well said. And use Push to Ignore. Just don’t use it on a moderator. I was reminded this is a big no-no!

The RED X only had any real purpose when this forum has what I called "popularity points".

Or...was that a different forum? Phft...whatever.

The red X did cause a lot of problems a few years ago on here. I agree we could do with something different but we don't control THAT side of the forum, Robdog does and until changes are made that's the best we have got.

The rule is simple enough to understand if you bother to read it. CONTINUAL use against an individual WILL be seen that way. If you don't like what they say put them on ignore.
Good point. After a while, if I just can’t reason with someone, and vice versa, the Push to Ignore link is the best way to deal with it, as long as it’s NOT used on a moderator. And that makes sense. Moderators are, or at least should be, moderate!

You cannot ignore us although some wish they could...lol It IS the best option though.
