DUI, assault, etc. are behaviors that all have different legal classifications and public perceptions, but in the end they are behaviors that put a player on the wrong end of the spectrum of what most teams and fans desire. IMO, there is a large enough pool of talented players to choose from, players that aren't or haven't been in trouble. I just don't see why it seems like some people want to look the other way when a player like this comes along, simply because that player might be a "talented cheap risk" to give that second (third, fourth....) chance too, instead of the guys who IMO have earned a shot at a career in the NFL. While I believe in second chances, make those guys find their second chances in a lower profile, less public profession.

I've been down this road before on this forum and I remember Ron Wolf pulling the trigger on Andre "bad moon" Rison and all the baggage he had and he helped the Packers win a Super Bowl so I don't see the big deal in bringing in a somewhat troubled guy now and then to help get the Packers over the hump. A lot of people didn't like getting Rison at the time but they were more then happy when the Packers won the Super Bowl.

We're not so much better then everyone else that we can just go after a bunch of choir boys. I understand the culture and wanting to keep that in tact but we're not talking about going down to the local penitentiary looking for guys getting ready to parole.

he doesnt have a long criminal history, he has 1 domestic violence charge that i am aware of

point is we need to draw the line somewhere before it becomes the norm where many nfl players are criminals. we are at a point with excusing these behaviors which we seemed to have become desensitized to. I can see it now,"hey, he just robbed someone at gun point. no one got hurt or killed. what's the big deal?" or "hey, he just beat his wife...what's the big deal? he will learn from it?" wait a minute!
