We do gotta expect him to come in and run things differently he knows what the fans want and what the team needs

Hopefully he can restructure some of the existing guys making 10M+ who are underperforming. If not, he may be forced to make an unpopular decision with one our prized thoroughbreds out 0f the gate.

Two thumbs up here.
I have full confidence in him.
One caveat; let him run. Total control, A to Z run it his way, first and last say. Anyone doesn't like it is free to leave, including MM.

So, we end up with a rock solid guy for GM, and Uncle Joe is comin' back. Not a bad day, gang.

There is all kinds of cap room if they do something with either Jordy or Cobb along with Matthews.
I'd like to see 2 of these 3 take restructure deals to free up some Cap to sign either a Veteran CB or Veteran TE. Then hopefully we'll have a pick of defensive playmaker like Roquon or Arden with a backup plan of the top 2 WR's to eventually replace Jordy

I honestly don’t understand why anyone thinks that Wolf would offer anything more than Gutekunst.
I honestly don't know why anyone with the little information available to us the fans would have an opinion about either one of them lol.

I agree. I know it can happen to anyone but what I always will remember about Wolf was how he raved about Kyri Thornton as a third round pick and they could not believe that he was still there. Oops.

I think people can look at his experience and make an educated judgement about his qualifications. The new GM has worked his entire career so far in scouting and talent evaluation. That is ultimately what GM's do so the pick looks solid with regard to his prior experience. Obviously, some GM's are much better at talent evaluation that others and that makes all the difference in who wins and who has fans mocking their own team.

Key scares me....extra baggage, but R Smith would be great. I think they both go top 12. our new GM is going to have some fun this draft.

I still don't get what Gutenkust offers that Eliot doesn't. And having a better interview doesn't really make sense.
I don't know what either of them offer :) other than they've been kept around in this organization for a while and have worked their way up.

This is an organization that gave Driver a final contract as a lovely parting gift so as not to draw the ire of fans. We'll see.

I believe it was more publicity... He just won dwts... Wasn't about the fans wanted per say, but how could you fire him after that win?

So now we have a GM that may actually be aggressive in free agency, but who is actually worth targeting in free agency this year? Of course the obvious in DeMarcus Lawerence, Ansah, Morris Claiborne, or Trumaine Johnson, but what’s the likeliness they aren’t resigned by their current teams? I feel like this is a bad year for FA. Not too much in the pool.

Obviously it depends on the cap, but if we have cash to play with you have to think they bring Jimmy Graham in for a work out. I'd also bring Robinson in for a workout (WR Jags who led the league in TD's a couple years ago). Defensively, I'm not sure who's out there.

I say they move back to a 4-3 a sign Ansah..even if it means cutting Matthews/and or Nelson. Restructure Cobb. Ansah is a better player than Mathews anyways , and just the thought of Ansah, Daniels, Clark, and Perry as the starting D line makes me very very happy.

I want Trumaine Johnson.

God, imagine if we signed Bouye.

Can we have a little bet?

Granted this is hard to bet... What would be parameters? 1 high priced free agent? More than 1 average priced?
singl
A Packer free agent count?
I will bet that they will not sign a single moderately priced free agent ($7 mil per year for at least 3 years) without the release of Nelson, Cobb, Matthews or Bulaga. I'll bet they will not sign a single high priced free agent ($12 mil per year or more for at least 3 years). I'll bet none of those players 4 will be renegotiated in any significant way. If you give me 3-2 odds, I'd say none will be renegotiated at all.

You gotta be kidding, right? How would winning "Dancing With the Stars" get him a going away contract that had nothing to do with the fans? That would be more seriously messed up than it already was.

Don't think Ansah is worth chasing.

I would try to sign Tru Johnson.

There's a few WR's I would pursue, but we would have to cut one of Nelson or Cobb, I would assume Cobb. Anyways, pursue Marqise Lee, Allen Robinson, Paul Richardson, Donte Moncreif, Jordan Matthews or Brice Butler.

Sign Trey Burton. Don't sign Jimmy Graham.

Maybe go after Alex Okafor, Junior Galette, or Aaron Lynch? Not a lot of edge options out there.

Yeah. And the Packers offered Favre some ungodly sum to take a PR front office job because they didn't care about the "drooling baboons".

I believe McCarthy will have more say in personnel decisions.

Here's something that's pretty screwed up.

So, Murphy hires a consultant for the GM search. That same consulting company is serving in the same capacity with the Texans. Gutekunst in under consideration by the Packers, then he flies to Houston to interview for their GM job, but before the Houston interview can take place Gutekunst gets an offer he cannot refuse.

This consulting firm seems more like Gutekunst's agent. Murphy should ask that these guys to return his retainer.
