Brett got a huge monkey off his back. It’s Monkey called his first NFL Win!
He still has some growing up to do but he showed us today that he is not nearly as bad as many made him out to be.
Anything goes in this league. We’re about to play 2 good teams. The Ravens are an inconsistent roller coaster with a stellar D and it depends which Flacco shows up. The Steelers at Heinz is going to be very difficult to win with our Defense.
But if we somehow pull out 1-1 the next 2 weeks things suddenly get very, very interesting.

Brett Hundleys back shoulder TD pass was as good of a pass as it gets. For a flash second I thought I was looking at Rodgers. That being said, kid still has a ton of improvements to be made to get two more wins, to keep this team competitive for a potential AR return in Carolina. They need to work Davante Adams on quick out routes. He is not Aaron rodgers and wants to hold on to the football, which is why he was dropped repeatedly. With the Ravens coming into town, he has to be ready for pressure and play smarter football.

Don’t want to speak too soon guys, but if this kid can squeak out a win against Baltimore and Cleveland and AR can get on the field for Carolina, this season could be saved. The Vikings have some tough games ahead, as do the Lions.

While I'd be nothing short of delighted to have that happen, can I ask where you heard this? The severity plus surgery coming from such an injury makes it seem a bit of a pie-in-the-skie notion. I mean, if it's true he could actually play by then I'm all for it, but I got a feeling it might take a bit of a supernatural event to do that.

For someone who has ascribed himself as someone who "actually knows something about football" you sure don't keep up with what's going on too well. AR is eligible to return from IR for Carolina. Docs who are familiar with the surgery he had made the point that he stands a good chance to be at least 85% healed by then and they said even at 80% healed, with the plates they installed, his clavicle will be stronger than it was before the injury. If that's the case, and we are not at that point eliminated from the playoffs (with 1 or 2 more wins we won't be), the smart money is on him playing.

Every game Hundley has been in this season he has continued to look better every week, he is a backup and things will hopefully get better.

Hundley playing under center is a detriment to all phases of the game. He makes bad decisions that halt drives, then the defense gets short rest - over and over and over. Eventually they get tired and break. It starts with time of possession, and in order for that to improve, you need a more skilled and more intelligent quarterback at the helm
Interesting. For the record, How many minutes above the :34 minutes of the :60 minute game today that he was under Center would you recommend Brett attain in order to appease your minimum requirement to be considered “skilled”?

He was awful most of the day but at some point late in the game he flipped the switch. That td throw was perfect....it was rodgers perfect. I think they have him so scared about turning it over that he quadruple thinks everything but at that point in the game he had to just ball out....and he did.

If gum has any correlation with not doing one's job, Capers and Thompson are smacking through a few packs a day.
It also seems Zook has been stocking up on Bumble Yum. and he’s starting to look more and more like Slocum.. but blowing Special Teams rather than bubbles.

Again. We played the Bears today, and they played poorly on offense and defense. Very few NFL teams would have lost to the Packers today.

Hundley isn`t a bad QB, he`s at worst an ordinary QB. The trouble is the Packers have spoilt you all with an exceptional QB and you have gotten too used to it. Give the guy a flamin break. God help the next guy who gets the starting job when Rodgers stops playing.

He's at par with Trubisky or Keenum or Garappolo or Kizer or Brisset or Glennon...or even Simean imo.

Even at college he was known more for making plays with his feet than with his hands. You really can't expect him to thread the needle or set the game alight with passing.

Design plays to his strengths and he's decent enough to not make this season a total write off.

I think we are on the same page here. I certainly don`t think he`s nearly as bad as some here think.

True dat.

But thankfully today we're rejoicing over the Packers having defeated the loathsome and detestable Bears rather than being miserable at having been defeated by the loathsome and detestable Bears.

Maybe the Packers can defeat the almost equally pitiable Ravens next weekend? At least Brett Hundley looks like an athlete out there. He has some skills.

Let's face it, we're all spoiled rotten by Aaron Rodgers.

Might as well get on the Brett Hundley bandwagon and ride it out until 2018.

Think you are forgetting that we were the underdogs in here. Bears were favoured to win pre-match. This can be rightly considered as an upset win.
In situation we are in, yes this is the Bears and yes this is a big win for us.

Pretty much most here were expecting a loss and it's just weird to see "Remember it's just the bears" popping up after we won!

It was more "then just the Bears" and I believe a quality win. Line opened at Bears -3 and went as high as -5 so $ was pouring in on Bears. Bears resume includes wins at home against Steelers and Panthers. Competitive against Saints. Road win at Baltimore. A top 10 defense and a solid run game.

I'm sure the Packers 160 yards rushing helped Hundley but he did make some "big boy throws" in the clutch. He surprised me. Let's hope for some more of that and a win against Baltimore and I believe the narrative on this whole season changes.

I think they need to let the boy play. Throw the ball, do what the packers do let the receivers make plays. I understand they are scared of the turnover, with hundley also throwing a lot of interceptions at UCLA but your not going to move the ball up the field if you dont let him try. Hundley needs to learn to throw the ball away instead of trying to scramble only to lose yards. I believe in this kid, i really think he has what it take to not make this season a total write off but this will also give the packers a reality check and have work to be done.

We are an underdog in every game with Hundley under center. My point is people are celebrating that we beat the Bears like it means our season is saved. We will not make the playoffs with Brett Hundley as our QB. I may be overly pessimistic (I was not if you read my posts from the first couple of weeks of Hundley). But I’m basing my opinion on what’s on tape now. We’ve seen him a few times now. He’s shown no signs of having “it”. Most of the people arguing in favor of Hundley bring up one throw that Adams made a great play on. It was a decent throw, yes. But it was one throw. Look at how many plays he never went through his progressions - first option isn’t open, check down, no yards. Next play - first option isn’t open, check down. Even more concerning - nobody is open yet, but there’s room to run - throw the ball away. Not to mention the countless times guys are open, but he’s not even throwing the ball until they’ve finished their route and are just standing there waiting. Not only does that kill their chances at any YAC, but it’s making our receivers sitting ducks and setting them up to take big hits and get hurt.

You guys can argue it all you want, but I don’t see it. This guy has made mind-boggling mistake after mind-boggling mistake. He clearly is going to take a lot of time to develop, and we don’t have that time.

That said, I hope he plays better and we can get past the Ravens next week. If we play like we did yesterday, the Ravens are going to coast by.

I will add, though, that it may also be the play calling. I don’t know if they just aren’t letting Brett be Brett. I know they’ve called a lot of safe, short plays. And I know they’ve called a lot of downfield plays that Brett has simply opted for the checkdown because he gets too flustered to let the receivers get downfield. If his sub-optimal play is a result of the coaches keeping a tight leash on him, then I feel really bad for the guy. I’d rather see him take some shots and make mistakes than be in a position where it’s impossible to be successful before the ball is even snapped.

P.S. We get it that he isn’t going to be Aaron Rodgers. Nobody will. But that doesn’t mean we have to settle for Matt McGloin.

I agree. Like many arguments, the truth lies somewhere in the middle, His ceiling is more than likely the
bottom /middle of the pack of #1’s and his floor is probably the middle of the Pack of #2’s.
There’s nothing wrong with a team eventually using him as a second option, many QBs make an entire career out of that.
I’d love to see him pull out another upset against a good Defense like Baltimore or Pittsburgh. I think that would solidify his career as at least a capable #2
