I'll be adding this to the OP as well, honestly a cool discussion is of the 19 we released and 6 waived with injuries....do we resign more or less than 13 of those same guys back?

I predict we will pick up minimum four new faces I think.
I think I read that like only 2 dozen players were waiver claims after cutdown day over the past 3-4 years. It ain't many.

I see the Packers trying to get deeper at RB, QB, TE, OLB, S and CB today. Whether that is through signing guys they cut or new players, those would be what I identify as depth needs.

We signed safety Rudy Ford. I don't know much about him.

Too late already posted LOL

He is a veteran from Jags.

PFF Grade of 57.7 last season. Targets his way were 47, 39 receptions allowed, 1 INT and 39 solo tackles.

He hasn't seen a ton of snaps however until last season (423) prior to that he never saw more than 62 regular defense snaps.

He has had over 169 snaps on Special Teams every season but one (due to injury)

Im not sad about losing Ty Summers. He was a poor mans version of what we saw too much of at ILB over the years. Too slow to react and usually made tackles 4+ yards past the LOS. Given when the Packers released him, I doubt they wanted him back.

Oh the cut was clear, especially when it seems quite apparent that McDuffie has taken a big step towards what a lot of us thought he may become....and the other three are just freaking studs...no reason to keep a ILB purely for ST help even though ours has been rough.

Before anyone calls me on it, no I shouldn't have described Barnes or Walker in the same namesake as Campbell (studs)....Walker hasn't taken a snap in the NFL, and while Barnes has been a STUD when you weigh in being UDFA, he's a step below what Campbell is for sure.

I wouldn't have said a thing. It is clear that Gute has decided that the ILB position is very important and he is going after quick and instinctive players. No longer is he settling for Blake Martinez type guys. I liked Blake as your football captain on D, but much like I described Summers, he was too slow to react and made way too many tackles too far past the LOS.

I also think that with the D Line being much improved, we are going to see a lot of action from all 4 LB positions. I am super excited about watching the Defense, whereas the offense has me a bit concerned on how well Rodgers and his receiving unit will be.

Ford is strong candidate for ST. Literally strong
Put up 20 reps

4.4 X 40 time (9.8 RAS)
2.51 X 20 yard split (9.96)
1.51 X 10 yard split (9.79)

Really fast kid, on the shorter side at 5’11.1 but a solid 208lb.

Great job and thanks a lot Tyni. Living in SoCal I don't get a lot of Packer news, and this really helps during the off season. Appreciate all the work you put in for this.

First thing I said when I saw his picture was "ok....this guy is a stud". He is considered to be among the leagues fastest punt gunners.

I HAD to post this for all those Packer fans that are still upset about the Love pick. Could be worse....we could be the fricking Raiders!
