They must think it because they don't think he should have gotten it or at least not from us.. Call it whatever you'd like. I think it was money well spent. He's stayed healthy, he's performed and earning a contract he earned.

Yeah, I'd love to have all rookies that perform like all pro's, but that's not how it usually works. I don't think Jones got a break the bank contract like others have. Much of that money will never be seen, but it still gave him a good chunk and gave us an out without crippling us going forward if we had to. I don't think he was paid a ton vs his experience and production, especially with hindsight.

Jones played a huge role in our offense the past 2 years running and big receptions at important moments. yeah we could have spent money elsewhere, but then we're guessing they would have given us that level of performance in their play that he has.

Now hang on, saying it isn't necessarily the move you'd make if GM isn't the same as saying he wasn't worth it?

Shoot I love Aaron Jones, but even I realize that you could have signed Jamaal for a fraction of it (he got $2M a year for three years) and arguably went and got say Nelson Agholar at WR for a year with Davante and MVS would have been awesome...and I'd argue a better team overall in 2021 then with Aaron.

As I said though it's all hindsight and doesn't matter. Good news is we have him and Dillon for 2022 (his contract disallows 2023 IMO unless reworked 100%) and that is a DEADLY DEADLY pairing out of the backfield.

at best I think having WIlliams and Agholar would have given us an offense as potent as we had. I don't think it really improves it much. Jones is so much more dynamic out of the backfield running and catching.

Had we given a contract like Henry, Mcaffrey, Elliot, I'd agree, it was a bad move to guarantee that much. But we guaranteed him like 10-15 million bucks is all and he's earned every penny after that.

I think they'll keep a 6th D lineman and only 5 safeties with possibly only 4 ILB. It wouldn't surprise me to see a 10th OLineman kept as well.
Something that concerned me was an SB Nation article asking if the Packers should trade Yosh right now to Dallas. If Bahktiari was a non issue that may have been the case. But it is not. Bahktiari from all indications could be toast after his next trip on the field. In fact he may never see it again for all we know. Hold your cards on this one, Gute.

I don't think I've heard anyone claim he was overpaid? I know many have said they just wouldn't pay a RB a ton in this day and age, but that isn't saying he wasn't worth in this NFL contract landscape he was overpaid - full disclosure I may have missed someone saying it.
To me that sounds like talking out of both sides of your mouth. Or at the least trying your damndest not to make any decision.

I think Jones has already showed his worth and will continue to do so this year. I don't think they could have spent that money better.

I'm not a fan of spending that kind of money on a running back. Don't get me wrong, Jones has performed at a high level but in my opinion it's a better approach to spend that money on a different position on which it isn't that easy to add adequate talent.

Something that concerned me was an SB Nation article asking if the Packers should trade Yosh right now to Dallas.

The Packers should definitely not do that.

Whats wrong with society is...that instead of working together as if we're all on the same team. We choose to fight one another over just about everything

And that is what is wrong though in society today, if you say one thing it by default to tons of others means a bunch of things you never said or do feel.
I clarified and said you can call it what you want, the bottom line is people that don't think we should have given Jones a that contract, which means he would not be here. I think it is good that he is and the contract wasn't a behemoth one like we see with CM, ZE or HH recently. It was really rather modest when you think about what the going rate for top level RB's are right now.

I think people are overlooking the tandem of RBs the Packers have. Dillion is one more year experienced and is going to be a beast. WRs may be lacking, but this team is now almost fully built in the MLF mode. Run heavy and a great defense. Add to that the MVP of the league at QB and I think it will work out. I'm excited to see the RBs go to work.

Weekly Update Projections for me (again no not in a depth chart order)

Special Teams (4)
ST (3)

P-O'Donnel
LS-Coco
First of all tyni I like a lot of this, and I'm gonna start with a question and not a disagreement.

1.) Are we 100% sure Crosby doesn't end up on PUP?

What I don't like:

1.) I think the gaff on the kickoff may have played Goodson off the team. Williams is a better runner, he's just a detriment in the blocking scheme. If that has significantly improved I would keep him.

2.) I'm not sure about Amari Rodgers. Yes he has improved. Enough to keep Winfree off the team?

3.) I'm having a TOUGH time keep Rhyan on this team over Rasheed Walker. Who ever doesn't make it I expect to be on PS though.

4.) Taking both Linebacker positions together here: Garvin and Summers are gone. Garvin hasn't improved enough and Summers as much as I wanna see him succeed has looked bad on ST and D this whole pre-season.

5.) Carpenter doesn't make the 53. Maybe he's a PS guy but not a roster guy.

6.) I expect a vet that everyone thinks is safe to either be cut or traded...maybe for a #1 WR.

I will attempt to answer the inquiry about Crosby, no one knows about PUP either way we will have two kickers in house like always - one on PS or PUP and one active.

Before I share thoughts on others, how much PS have you watched Ric? Have you watched any and all footage of TC practices and interviews with updates from coaches and such?

Just read on Packers Wire that he expects to play in week 1. TBD I guess.

I don't think Williams is in the conversation. It's either Goodson or Taylor. Taylor is more experienced and is a better blocker. Eyeball test says Goodson is more explosive.
2.) I'm not sure about Amari Rodgers. Yes he has improved. Enough to keep Winfree off the team?
Rodgers is a no brainer. They will give him another season. It's between Winfree and Toure for the final spot.
3.) I'm having a TOUGH time keep Rhyan on this team over Rasheed Walker. Who ever doesn't make it I expect to be on PS though.
Agreed, Walker was dinged up but played well last night. I feel like he makes it.

This would surprise me. I think they are good at WR. Safety has some injury issues. Maybe they bring someone in there. TE is really weak as well.

I concur with vet signing not coming in at WR unless injuries hit.

If we add a signing it will be a Safety, TE or OLB I bet.

My thoughts were to re-sign Jamaal Williams and use the Jones money to try and keep Linsley. Not sure if it could have been done financially but that was my 1st choice. I also love A. Jones and have no problem how it worked out.

I once sent several neat song choices to a GF I actually really liked. One just happened to be “Lunatic Fringe”.
She thought it had some deeper meaning about her! (Which I was completely innocent I sent it because I’m a musician and she loves Rock n Roll). The more I tried to apologize the guiltier I looked! But then, based on her feelings of inadequacy, she showed she was clearly in the fringe! That 1 simple text destroyed 3 months of trust and friendship!
PS. We broke it off shortly after that, its probably just as well she was about to make Captain of the Dallas FD and I’d be inextricably linked to Dallas ;)
I guess you could say, I didn’t make the 53

Ego, purposefully dumb down, lied to brainwashed and manipulated from the cradle 2 the grave. Doesn't matter how good the RB's are if the line can't open up holes. The right side is a mess with Newman and Hanson. Hanson has no business in the starting line. How can you false start at the one yard line? Let's just hope and pray that Bakh and Jenkins are ready for week 1.

I reject as untrue nearly everything you've just written.
