Probably no one, but at this point, I'd take more enjoyment out of watching a 3rd string QB try rather than pretending Locke is going to do something. I can't remember a QB (Packers or Badgers) that I just absolutely hated watching play more than Locke.

If I'm a skill position player and I even remotely think that Locke is going to be the QB next year, I'm hitting the transfer portal if I'm on the team.

At this rate Fickell will probably be gone too by the end of 2025 season.
As I said in a previous post, I think next QB up is Freshman Mabrey Mettauer. There are a few reasons you don't play him.

First, maybe he just isn't ready. So playing him might hurt his growth more than help it.

Second, I am guessing they don't want to burn his redshirt. I can't tell you where that stands. I know he has played a bit, but I don't know how much or where the threshold currently is, that he loses the redshirt.

Finally, like I previously said, I doubt he is ready to start. Van **** and Locke got a ton of the preseason snaps. Once VD went down, I would guess that MM got a lot more practice snaps, but I don't even know how much practice they get in season.

I don't think Locke would be starting, if he wasn't their best option. Yes, he isn't any good, but he is 1 of 11 players on the offense, that I feel all need to get better.

Locke is there #2 QB. If Love went down, followed by Willis, how good do you think the Packers would be?

I understand all the hand wringing over how poorly Locke has played, but maybe outside of Ohio State, Georgia and Alabama, who has a 3rd string QB that will be a solid starter?

I think we're going to see a team less intent on passing, and more intent on moving the ball on the ground. That said, the passing game should automatically improve, regardless of who's under center. It will open up those short routes that are well covered when you're too inclined to use the passing game.

I have a hunch this could have a surprise ending. The Badgers aren't going to be nearly as predictable as they were under Longo. I expect we'll see a lot more of our RB depth being used this week.

Next question. Can the Badgers win this one? Yes. I think they have a lot better chance now than they did playing under the Longo game planning. They just couldn't live up to being a passing team.
