Packers have a chance to shore up their QB room with the possibility of Levis or H00ker. Either one would be excellent Love sucks insurance.

Do you say this because you are a big ARod fan? Because I see no sense in it.

"The Packers have traded the 13th Pick of the 2023 NFL Draft to.......for their 2024 1st round pick and......."
What is this 2017?!
Total Ted move, make the fanbase wait until 11:40pm and trade out if Round 1 for Kevin King and Vince Biegel! Then operate on both their feet while TJ Watt is next up twiddling his thumbs and Pittsburgh is on the clock :coffee: Nice

A revised mock after Day 1:

13: R1 P13 EDGE Lukas Van Ness - Iowa
42: R2 P11 DL Adetomiwa Adebawore - Northwestern
45: R2 P14 TE Darnell Washington - Georgia
78: R3 P15 WR Rashee Rice - SMU
116: R4 P14 G Jordan McFadden - Clemson
149: R5 P14 WR Elijah Higgins - Stanford
207: R6 P30 RB Keaton Mitchell - East Carolina
232: R7 P15 LB Ventrell Miller - Florida
235: R7 P18 EDGE Isaiah Land - Florida A&M
242: R7 P25 WR Jalen Moreno-Cropper - Fresno State
256: R7 P39 WR David Durden - West Florida

Observing the tendencies of this draft to make an attempt at prognosticating, seems apparent after the Top 3 QBs were taken the emphasis has been mostly on D-Lineman/EDGE players

Wasn't over-the-moon about LVN pick tbh-but the measurables are there so...I suspect Gute has the same type of man-crush on him that TT had on Nick Perry FWIW-or in other words, he's a makeup for missing on T.J. Watt years before; expecting him to be used as a standup OLB that can get into a 3pt stance if a DC wants to get creative with pass-rush packages

BG is for sure hoping he'll be Preston's eventual replacement

I'm thinking Gute will pluck another war daddy from the midwest by selecting the Wildcat; if he can be a sparkplug fire hydrant super saiyan KGB/Mike Daniels hybrid lining up as a 5/6 tech on early downs that can shade down to 4i or 3/1 tech on passing downs/rush packages we may have something there

If BG stays pat for the most part while grabbing players where they land I could see him looking to address the offense at this point from 45 all the way through the middle of the draft up to the last round aiming for sleepers/value players that may be from Group of 5 schools like Rice from the Dallas area and metro-ATL legacy prospect Mitchell-both of whom were Top-30 visits of ours

With the four picks in the last round I got froggy, considered special teams viability along with position versatility;there's some small school guys with potential sprinkled in

Depth and high-end talent to add onto an underachieving defense littered with 1st round selections while also making a concerted effort of attempting to restock the cupboards with athleticism plus play-making ability on offense

I'm willing to give Gute some rope while seeing where he goes with things Fri nite-for now...

I still have PTSD from that night! I can't watch a Steeler game, without crumbling to my knees.

Why do you see no sense in it? In 2008 the Packers drafted Brian Brohm in the 2nd and Matt Flynn in the 7th--because they didn't know for certain AR was going to be a success.

The same is true this year. We don't know Love is going to be a successful QB in the NFL. It would be smart to have other plans if he is not.

QB is too important a position to not have one who is excellent.

They must know what they have in Love by now. And they like what they see. So I could see a late rounder if you really want one. We've got too many holes to start picking where there isn't one. imho

For what its worth, I actually thought Spanky was trying to be funny with his comment.

Gute using a high pick on a QB? Doing that right now, with everything that just transpired with Rodgers and Love? He might as well hand in his resignation papers, because he would be persecuted b4 even a down was played.

Love was drafted for a reason and the Packers now need to let that plan play out. Throwing another high pick on a QB, before Love has taken as snap as the Packers #1 QB, I don't think so!

Drafting a developmental guy, late in the draft, sure. But anything else is going to be nothing by media and fan gun powder.

My preferred pick in the 2nd is Darnell Washington and I believe he will be there when the Packers pick.

I would love to know the order that Gute has the TE's on his board. Love watching Darnell play and if he impressed the Packers in his visit, I see him as a guy with a super high ceiling, but potentially a lower floor than a Mayer.

I would also be stoked if they got Mayer. I don't think he will be there at 42. I think he will be off the board.

I definitely think Mayer is the more complete and ready to play right now guy and agree with you that he may go in the first 10 picks tonight. Now if Washington is someone that Gute loves, I can see him developing into a better player than Mayer, but it will take time, which I think the Packers have. If this was 2021 or 2022 and Rodgers was the QB, I'd gone after Mayer.

Seems like 2(1) and 2(8) would be in play for trade-ups if the Packers really like someone. Pitt/Car don't have alot of draft capital so, I could see them wanting to slide a few spots in the 2nd to pick up more. Although, guessing someone might go hard for 2(1) for a QB so, 2(8) more realistic if they want to slide up to get the guy they want. I figure Det will probably go TE (Mayer).

The Packers might have to part with their #45 and #78 to move all the way up to #32, but I think Pittsburgh is probably getting all sorts of nice offers for that pick, with Levis still on the board.

As poorly as Gute has done with 3rd round picks, I'd prefer he hold on to it. I think the meat of this draft is going to be in the next 2 rounds. Maybe part with a 4th or 5th, if there is someone that they REALLY like and feel the need to move up from one of their current 2nd round picks.

Heck, I wouldn't be all that disappointed if Gute traded one of his 2nd's for both of the Lions or Bears 2nd's, much like the Vikings did with the Packers last year. The Lions have 3 picks in the 2nd, can see them fine with combining the last 2, so that they end up with 2 fairly high seconds.

If we get our ideal selection at #42
Hyatt/Darnell etc

I’d trade #45, #207
For
#56 #81
Its an area I’d expect to get :
Kraft locked at #56
Mimms/Mingo at #78 (natural)
and a Safety at #81 (Battle/Sydney Brown/Ji’Ayir Brown etc)

Four Wr's? I'll puke if they take 4 WR's and no DB's, especially safeties.

This is our S depth chart rn:

Keep in mind-I fully expect Rasul to move & start @ FS so that Stokes and Jaire start outside @ CB

Also, Nixon is our starter at nickel but could play safety

This is our WR depth chart rn:

The need for corners simply isn't there to me, and while adding a young player that could grab a starting spot would be nice at S I see that as a luxury option reserved for a veteran playoff team without glaring holes, which we are not

The glaring hole on this team is at WR and it is mind-blowing how we continuously neglect that position. We have 5 friggin guys total under contract; the Top 3 guys were drafted last year and looked like deer in headlights (except for some plays made by Watson which while was great to see really was all we had-Rodgers and MLF had no choice but to force feed him the ball and let him make mistakes)

Furthermore-Higgins is really an F hybrid player that could replace the roles occupied by guys like Deguara/Lazard, and Moreno-Cropper is more of a RB-WR hybrid player also to use in orbit motion/jet motion/in the backfield/for gadget plays to keep the playbook open

Rice and Durden would be the true outside receiving targets that could also probably line up in the slot

Bottom line we need more talent/diversity at the wideout spot and since it's highly unlikely we sign a vet FA worth a damn it means we gotta draft bodies...

I don’t care what holes are, never force a pick for a prospect due to only position. I expect two pass catchers most likely tonight of some form though.
